That dude needs to be on the other side of the track near the inside corner… why the hell would anybody racing be concerned about a yellow flag damn near 50ft to the left of a straightaway away.
I was referring to the car racing..
It was shitty placement of the red cross flag, but rules are rules. 17 other riders saw the flag and didn't jump.
dude look at the post above yours… Jett is not on the outside line at all and is literally pointed right at the flag … why is everyone defending him making a mistake, he knew he messed up. I for one am shocked that he missed it as it is sticking right out there in his line of sight, and as stated multiple times the far majority of the riders saw it and followed the rules. Funny how some selectively want rules enforced based on their own narrative or how it impacts their rider but when it doesn’t fit their narrative they are shocked and appalled! 😂

/end thread.
You fuckers are missing one point, some riders saw the flag, others didn't.
To stop any further injuries to downed riders, the AMA has to come up with an 100% solution where everyone knows its a red flag situation. It's their duty of care.
Of course there would also be no reason for us all to come on here and have fun bitching and moaning.
Look again. Maximum of 11 riders rolled the jump. Jett, Sexton, Webb, AP and JA were all penalized. Chiz, Hill and Clason are on video jumping but weren’t penalized. AC didn’t start. Oldenburg pulled off the track early. Vince was the cause of the flag. That leaves 11, not 17.
I’m not certain but I’m pretty sure Hunter jumped on it too. Video cut away as he was on the face and on the gas.
When half the field doesn’t see the flag it’s a problem.
Never considered that some didnt see it, because of line choice? Tomac went outer, chase and everybody who missed it, inside.
If you go slow or go the outer ruts, you have your eyes lined up much earlier since you raise your view when you are straight and have already scanned the ground straight in front of you.
So maybe you missed a point there...
Exactly my point, Eli took outer line, Jett didnt. Neither did Chase, Coop etc. There is a pattern...
With the Red Cross flag being so important why did he switch hands of holding and waving flags?
White flag the Red Cross flag was in front. Checkered flag was waving in front of it.
looks to me that he waving both the white and checkered flag in his right hand the screenshots just show different points of the waving during the screen shots.
I think that a lot of guys were rolling it anyway regardless of if there was a cross flag or not. Most of the top 5 jumped it. How many of them do You think thought they would get away with it? Jett obviously did not think that. If You watch the finish of a main, a lot of guys roll the finish if they are not in a battle.
I agree the rule is the rule, and give the penalty. But I also think that there was a big problem with so many riders not seeing it SOON enough to not jump. Like I said in another post, this time it only cost points. Next time somebody could get landed on. Doing something better to warn the riders should be a priority .
I find it hard for anybody who has raced to look at where the flag was, and say that they would never have missed it while in the heat of a battle. No way. Other times the flag has been much easier to see. This time not so much, let's hope that it helps change something that could help avoid a bad injury in the future.
The weird thing is that yellow flagger is gone by the time Jett comes around to finish the race. Kind of odd since Red Cross flag was still out.
Those 2 photos are crap and are not wide angle enough to show the position of the flagger and not out to the edge of the track where the flagger has to be as shown in the pics I downloaded. Look at where the arcing rut is to Jett’s left, probably another 10ft out to the edge of the track where they have to stand. Someone must have a pic that shows the flagger either standing there doing nothing, or flagging the yellow like in the pics submitted. Yours show neither….
Sorry I confused you, or others.
My point is the incident occurred, regardless of line choice, someone could have got further injured, or killed.
Feld / AMA now need to adopt a better solution so it CAN NOT occure again.
Legally It's their duty of care.
My veiw is they spend money on stupid metal starting grates, why not spend the extra on a transponder to illuminate a red indicator on each bike, to protect all riders.

Never change ama. Monster girls on a hot track and flags that nobody can see, but ama's not the problem somehow.
Pit Row
I know it has little bearing in this thread, but I have to ask, why was the Red Cross flag even shown?
It should have been a yellow, no one, not even the futures were single jumping the finish line double, why was it a Red Cross situation?
I agree it should have been a yellow. No medical emergency, nobody crashed on the landing. Furthermore, once Vince realized they were holding out the Red Cross why didn’t his dumb ass push his bike one foot forward to completely clear the track? Stupidity all around in that situation and I can’t say that I’m shocked.
Phil said as much last night and Matthes danced all around it. Everyone can be bought I reckon.
Should have listened to the whole segment before I posted. Matthes did dance around it for a brief period but he eventually said how he felt.
You're really grasping at straws here. Can we just manifest the camera into wide-angle? NO. Just sit quietly and be upset that your boy jumped on the red cross flag. Just own it and move on...damn.
Holding the Red Cross flag according the the AMA rule book has got to be the most racist act of white supremacy we have ever seen at a Monster Energy AMA supercross event
If they truly want to protect a downed rider it is time for radio communications in the helmets. The situation currently does not achieve the goal they are trying to accomplish when they display the red cross flag. If the goal is to make sure the situation isn't compounded by an unaware rider, then step up and at least put a speaker in the helmets or have the riders run earbuds.
OK, I'll concede a little here. Only 5 riders were penalized. The point is, they cannot simply say, "Well it's Jett Lawrence, so we won't penalize him." I don't even want to wade into the debate about why the AMA didn't penalize more people if they didn't roll the jump. Who knows?
What should have happened on the AMA's part is a red cross flag at the inside of the final turn, not just standing on top of the finish line jump. You have to warn riders of a situation ahead of the time they are right on top of it; that's flagging 101.
Put one in Jett's face right here. This makes it abundantly clear that there's a problem:
Use your brain for a second. You really think it would be a good idea to have speakers in moto helmets to distract the rider with ear piercing volume and Emergency broadcast system tones? And that wouldn't pose any issues with concentration or crashes for the riders? yeah okay Bud..
edit: Imagine coming out of the corner after the triple at St. Louis, setting up for the triple out of the corner, and BOOM loud tones with a voice distracting you on a very important part of the track you can't afford to lose concentration.. Too late, you slightly hesitated on takeoff and are now cartwheeling through the air.
Imagine going into that same turn and Barcia comes up behind you and is revving off the rev limiter. Or a fan blows an air horn. Just as startling?
They could practice using them before racing in them. And with an earplug style earbud, You really do not need to have it that loud to hear. I have a set I wear instead of ear plugs and I can have the sound low enough that its still not as loud as the noise I am blocking with the ear plugs. While running a Leaf blower wide open. I can clearly hear the music .
Lots of automotive racing use coms. I know a lot of guys who trail ride and talk with each other during the ride. Baja, Dakar, they are races with mixed traffic that allow communications in the 4 wheeled vehicles. In rally racing You have a guy sitting beside You yelling directions that You have to follow and make turns at the last second. I really think its possible for Moto guys to be able to ride with an ear piece. I bet that some guys would be so focused that they would not hear anything at first.
I agree that they should penalize the guys who jumped. I disagree that the system is working well , and in the case of the finish line I think it worked very badly for so many riders to not see it. It should have been earlier. You had guys who jumped and did not get penalized and guys that were most likely not going to jump it anyway, so they may not have even seen the flag but were going to roll it anyway. If the spirit of the flag is to warn riders, I feel that it failed.
It was awesome to see Eli get another win, and I hope it lights a fire under him and that Jett is not hurt. And that we can see some amazing battles .
You make a good point sir, but Indy Cars have both an indicator in the driver's cockpit connected directly to race control that indicates cautions or other flags in real time, as well as spotters at the top of the grandstands and pit teams that can communicate with the drivers directly by in-helmet radio. F1, NASCAR, and other professional motorsports use one or both of these in some form. I was curious when considering this if MotoGP uses in-helmet radios and I found this:
(From MotoGP.com)
"MotoGP™ is no stranger to innovation, and as the riders, teams and factories headed out with their own testing to work on at Jerez, the sport also debuted the next phase of a long-term project aiming to establish radio communication with riders whilst they’re out on track. A first version was previously tested at Misano in 2020, and now two new systems are under evaluation this season. One goes around the earplugs riders use and the other directly into the ear. Comfort, noise, viability and fallibility are of utmost importance, and a number of different riders tested them out in order to provide their feedback".
This was recently discussed in another forum thread, but maybe it's time the AMA looks at changing the wireless communication rule for Pro MX/SX? Even if it's only limited to 1-way communications with AMA Race Control and every rider hears the same thing to eliminate any possible individual advantage.
As far as St. Louis goes... that's the biggest combo (double) jump on the track, if the red cross was out long enough for el Hombre to get penalized twice, where were the flashing red WOG warning lights?
it's an AMA failure, and not a rider failure in this instance. This isn't just about Jett, the AMA failed to do their job correctly, so none of the riders should have been docked.
