If it was anybody but Hunta the Donut Bois would be after his head.
Remember how deep Kitchen took the corners on the first lap? It was smarter racing, ensuring that nobody would be able to pull of a dive bomb move. I don't think Jett is used to that happening to him very much anymore.
Quiet obvious Barcia has to take the blame, specially when you see that angle.
What was Barcias plan? He would have lost the position to Friese just as you can see, so he can't say that was his reason. He ain't passing Jett without a T-bone even if Jett turns down later.
Thanks for uploading that pic, made it quiet clear who was without a game plan for that corner.
You can just draw out Barcias line to T-bone Jett if Jett holds a higher wider line.
Barcia is in no-mans land. He gives up the position to Friese since he is not going to stop mid corner on flat surface, and Vince has the right corner covered. What is Barcias plan? To go to the berm in the top left corner from the picture and turn there? Wouldn't be any better for Jett, Barcia is still coming at a T-bone angle.
Just poor race craft by Barcia and unfortunately it tends to have horrible outcomes.

Barcia was coming in so hot i seriously doubt he stops in time for the corner. Jett is most likely still being hit even if he railed the berm. Just look at where Barcia is heading towards in the corner and envision Jett continues on around the top.
People comparing this to the Dungey/Stew incident im sorry but its nothing a like. Dungey cased a triple into the corner and his rear wheel kicked up meaning he couldnt stop in time. Barcia flat out comes in 2x faster than you would normally take that turn off a flat straight.
The common denominator here is Barcia has done this many a time and he has his fair share of T-bones. Just look at what he did to Malcolm which was disgusting. Hes a dangerous rider and a liability out there.
FMD, I finally get to watch the racing highlights and anyone who does not have the fanboy glasses on can see that it was a flat out T/Bone.
I also see it as an (as you say) unfortunate race incident.
But if the exact same situation happened and it was Hunter Lawrence t-boning Eli Tomac you would be burning this place to the ground with your tirades.
You're a hypocrite.
If Barcia had backed off, and let Friese go, it woulda been Friese making this hit on him most likely.
I totally agree.
I've got a genuine question for everyone? Who's MORE at fault? The guy in front who can't see behind him? Or the person following who CAN see whats happening infront of him??
So many are blaming Jett for taking a risky line so early in the race? The exact same can be said for Barcia? Providing the lead rider isn't intentionally doing dangerous stuff like cross jumping, brake checking, swerving etc they aren't responsible for the happens behind them? Right?? The rider behind on the other hand has the advantage is being able to see what's happening infront of himself and should ride accordingly.
I stand by my initial thought of 90%+ Barcia fault. Do I think he did it on purpose? No. But he is responsible for it.
IMO
It's 100% a Barcia move, he's been doing this since the beginning of his pro career, and maybe before, I didn't follow him prior.
His brain disconnects after the gate drop and then after an incident he wakes up and raises his hand. One could make a compilation video of Barcia mishaps, all equally stupid.
It was simply two guys making very aggressive moves in traffic on lap 1. Justin gets jumped all over because of his history and maybe rightly so. It was a racing deal end of story.
Yep.
Stewart cut down before the apex of the corner. Thats the biggest difference between Jett and Stewarts moves.
Jett cut down WAY earlier than Stewart...
There needs to be a wider point of exit on these 180-degree turns so that there's no two-way traffic going on. Make them more like two 90s by widening the tuff blocks on the corner exit inside, so riders cannot turn down quite as sharply or something. As it is, the turn is like it is designed for head-on collisions.
