1. 45 minute moto's, no problem.
2. When you get to the pits, you can throw it up on the stand like a boss.
3. If it doesn't start on the second kick, you can still kick it for 20 minutes and not break a sweat.
4. New top end: piston and ring. $100.
5. At 14,000 rpm, they sound soooo sweet....
6. 35 pounds lighter than a 450.
7. Flexing on your friend is fun when you pass him on his new $13,000 Works Edition.
8. Chicks dig them.
Fuck ya man!
9. Stringing five corners and sections together to top bounce the triple to flat.
10. It's the most fun you can have... on 2 wheels.
Agreed. Besides an XR75...

Well we are fixing to find out. Our state series has added a +30 and +40 125 classes this year. My son has a Husky 125 we are fixing to put a lot of hours on it.
If you do well, you’re a stud.
if you do bad, well, what did they expect when you had so little horsepower?
I'll just leave it here..
Because there is NO sweeter sound than someone giving one the beans proper-like....
125s take skill and finesse on a whole other level.....unlike modern bikes were skill is replaced by "modes" and rider "aids" crap.
I rode and raced 125s for years, I think the absolute pinnacle of design was the last year of the carbed austrian bikes. Absolute rockets.
Have to say though, I prefer my 450.
They're just fun to ride, especially on easy tracks (not deep sand). Traded in my 2020 YZ450F to a 2022 YZ125 earlier this year. Probably the best decision i could've made when i only have time to ride 20-30h a year.
Got my first at 13 and love them just as much at 37.
A good 125 may not always be the 'right' tool for the job, but it will always be fun and that's what it's about for most of us.
Now where's Pro125 for his ringing endorsement of Honda's efforts 🤘
11. Because you are hyperactive, and like tap dancing on the shifter.
I ride a 125 but with today's tracks with big and bigger jumps it is a lot of work to always have the speed to clear them which is frustrating. But for the woods especially if tight I wouldn't want to ride anything else really, or maybe a 150/200 would be the best of both worlds ?
I ride a 125 because of how it makes me ride, all out!
I like the fact that I have to work hard to always be in the powerband, to keep my momentum everywhere, to choose my lines strategically.
That's the way I like it!
What a fun looking track! 86er CR?
Check mate, I don't clear anything on anything, anymore 😂
Seriously though, 150's are great, Dave Willet from Motohead summed it up best for me, I think the YouTube video was living with a 150 or something similar.
Gonna grab the 150 kit from the dealer next month I think.
Still race one at 56, most fun ever.
I miss the days of $100 top ends.
Pit Row
You don't have to time most of the big jumps. Just hold it wide open and see if you make it.
You sound fast even when going really slow.
12. Teaches you the art of carrying momentum.
Man I miss my 125....
I'm old, but my best and my most fun year of racing was 1981 on the R&D built RM125X.... Would go back and do that over and over again.
So I totally agree with:
10. It's the most fun you can have... on 2 wheels.
Currently selling my 250F. I should be smart and take the cash and use that to pay off some debt…but I’ve got a bad fever for a yz125!
Damn! You like them so much, you put one in your car!
Corner speed💪
I was thinking the same. I'm doing my first top end now and went with oem. Parts were close to $200 and with labor costs these days it would probably be double that if you had someone do it.
Not sure how maintenance is on an F bike, but I remember changing a ring and plug after moto-1 on my 125 and then pulling the hole-shot in moto-2, its so easy to work on them.....
Air cooled days?
Nope, liquid cooled, probably around 2003/2004 back when I was riding KX's
