Wow, one class ruins a whole lot more than just “less cost for the team.” Such a myopic view is so wrong. You can’t attract sponsors that way, similar to you can’t attract sponsors when you cut the rounds in half. And I’m not buying for a second that fans lose interest after half the show. If they do, your show format sucks, like running all the mains in a row so fast that NOBODY knows what’s going on. You lose all of the excitement trying to force a new gimmick.

Well they don't attract any sponsors anyway.

And it's not just the 250 stars, they don't attract. The one and only star is Roczen, because SX global hired him directly, for a shitload of money, trampling on their self enacted "team equity principle".

I just finished watching the second round of the Indian SX.
I'm pretty sure any Indian newcomer to the sport had at least as much of a good time as the AbuDhabian newcomers, watching a race that probably cost the promoter a tenth of WSX...

And they even have sponsors!

So how is that more appealing to the team owners?  They now have less income from the series and are less appealing to a sponsor who just had their exposure cut in half.  As a person who is spending money on tickets, there's no way I'm paying the same ticket price for half the racing action.  The only one who benefits is the series owner/promoter.

You can't expect a promoter who lost money at every round that actually took place -and lost some more for every one that didn't take place- to offer the same conditions to the teams they had in the beginning...

The prospect of a reliable supercross series around the world, with varying top level competitors, was real exciting.

Was it just managed terribly and then they lost all their credibility bailing on dates they'd planned?

Or was there a genuine lack of interest? The limited Arenacross events in the UK seems to get fans in, French supercross seems to do well, this Indian dealy seems to be taking off... Australian supercross sounds like it's gone a little cold?

I'm asking, as I don't know, I'm not picking a fight 👍

Coming into this thinking -before you've done anything- you're smarter than both Feld and MXsports and you're gonna kick their ass probably wasn't the best idea...

Something else and I’ve always hated the saying, casual fan but there is a lot of people in the locations that they are going that are going to see a supercross for the first time. One class is a lot easier for new fans to keep up with.

They shortened the night show in Abu Dhabi, because they were worried that the fans would lose interest in too much racing.

Based on the proposed markets for 2024, I'd imagine that thinking is prevalent.

It's getting more and more attractive to the actual SX fan.

And more and more legit as a world championship.

That's the nice thing with WSX (and a good way to cut on communication costs): their original claim works every year...

You have to be kidding me.  More attractive and more legit?  You can't be serious; this series is a floundering mess.   I am betting a large percentage of team owners walk away.  The only ones who will be racing are privateers, and they will only race rounds that are in their home countries due to cost.

They're not THAT dumb.

Anyway, just like the financing, the management underwent LOTS of changes since the beginning of the adventure. A clear sign of success and validated strategies.

That's called irony, and yes, I'm actually kidding you.

The same MX Sports that couldn’t get one of the best outdoors season ever to stream correctly? The same MX Sports then had their minions tell the fans of the sport they’re just too stupid to work the app. Not to mention the whole claiming thing going on during this. Yeah they are hard to beat.

The same Feld that chose the current broadcast team?

No panic button yet. I actually think that only running one class is a great move for them.

If they eliminate SX2, they could cut a lot of their costs (prize money, team payouts and whatnot). It is smart for their business.

Maybe not great from a 'sporting' point of view, but it will help a business that is not the healthiest.

It would be hard to justify traveling very far for just the 450's to race.

I would think they would have to add a B main for those who didn't make it into the main event, just to fill up the night show. Or some kind of freestyle event or a superpole. Or if they could get enough riders, 4 heat races would be kind of cool. I'm not sure but two heat races, an lcq, and a main event doesn't seem like enough for a whole night of Supercross.

I do however, see your point on the financial side of things, but I do feel like some of the money they will say will have to be spent elsewhere to fill up the night.

I'm all for a succeeding and hope it finds its place but they're not off to a great start. I for sure would be hesitant to sit out of any other series to prepare for WSX.

Oh god....get over it....you fools complaining about the MavTV deal are what ran DC away from this place.  It's like you think that MXSports had it's own developers to make the streaming app or some shit.

DC ran himself out of this place. Probably still staggering around thinking Bondo does a good job.

Most teams don't agree with the new contracts terms.
And are not happier with the provisional schedule of five races in six weeks.

Oh well, October is still far away...

You gotta love a WSX topic where most posts are about totally something else... That shows how much interest WSX raises...

Laughing

I also enjoy, as usual, people downvoting the actual truth...

Even the most enthusiastic when WSX started, like Yarrive Konsky, are totally dejected by the directions taken...

Breaking news: the very last member of the original "collective of world class masterminds" has left the (sinking?) ship.

Too bad, he was the only one who knew s**t about SX.

...again.

Sending it down to ya, Lewis, watyagot?
