Where did you visit in East Africa? Kenya?
The Serengeti in Tanzania is pretty awesome.
Yes, all over Kenya, I love it up there. Rwanda too. Rwanda is amazing.
Why do they always run right in front of you? I've had many close calls with these wild donks, luckily there was a turn in the road and I was on the brakes.
Why do donkeys run in front of you? Cause it's a blady donkey
I really like donkeys. A friend has two of them on his small holding...I always bring treats for them and when they see me they come running.... braying...grunting, squealing and snorting...it's so funny hearing them.
I've been to Kenya and highly recommend for folk who want to see wildlife.

I was sprayed by a full grown skunk who was walking across the track at the landing area of a blind jump- bad- air cooled YZ125G - hot engine - bike had a funk for awhile, thru out all gear.
Almost hit a 450 lb black bear on a blind corner by a lake , same bike.
And killed a few rabbits running down the rut of a trail
Saw a badger up the trail once when I was a kid. I found an alternate route. Didn't want to go anywhere near him. I've seen bears, rabbits, deer, and cows that have gotten out of their pasture. My buddy almost hit a cow - around a blind corner and there she was. It took off running, shitting as she went. You don't want to get roosted with cow shit. As others have said, hitting a deer is always a worry on the trails because they're dumb enough to jump out in front of you.
I mountain bike and ride trails on my mx bike.
I feel completely safe on my dirtbike.
I feel that dogs and snakes are a reality on my mtb.
Living in mexico theres plenty of rattlesnakes and stray dogs in packs
This looks like me trying to run over ground squirrels running up our driveway (JK, sort of, I have a hard time killing things, but those little turds are destructive).
I think the lizard brain reaction is to try to outdistance a predator, not step out of its way. It thinks you want to kill it.
I wish I had some GoPro footage of some of the dog packs down there, they are ruthless. It's such a challenge to get past them when they are ganging up on you and trying to stop you by blocking your front tire. The guy in front always has the biggest challenge whereas if you are second or third you can rip around them as they are focused on your buddy.
saw this fella when I was riding in Kentucky. Actually I didn't see him until I was basically over him, not sure if I ran over him or not.
Grabbed this from my gopro
My trails in CT have a lot of barred owls, if I go out in the hour before dark I see at least one every time. One time I saw one fly to its nest and heard little babies chirping
Come across snakes all the time in FL, mostly black racers around where I am but I’ve run into a fair share of moccasins and rattlers. Plenty of deer and wild hogs, the coolest thing I could say I’ve seen while riding is a wild peacock near our house as a kid. We actually used to see the same two around the house every so often, but it’s been years since we’ve seen them.
Most of our hare scrambles are on cattle ranches here, one race I was hauling through a field and the trail tightened back up into woods, usually the cattle farmers herd them off into other pastures for the races but as soon as my eyes adjust to the shade in the trees I see a huge dairy cow just standing in the middle of trail looking at me. In a split second I pulled in the clutch and locked up the brakes and revved my bike to the moon, just barely missed her and she didn’t even flinch the whole time
At our hunting lease we had an old Honda utility quad that took forever to fire up, me and my brother parked it for something and when he engaged the starter and it turned over a turkey started talking to it, he kept blipping it the starter and the turkey would gobble back.
Ran into a family of wild boar today while riding my woods loop in south Florida! Have not seen boar down here in a few years…I slowed down & they went back into the woods…some gnarly shit down here in Florida..snakes, turtles, bobcats.. I don’t walk the woods without a weapon
There's a pretty long list of creatures I'd rather run into than wild hogs of any kind...
oh and Emu’s….
Tons of rabbits, a lot of deers, a few boars, and one (small) snake.
Raced a national hare scrambles years ago at big sky Montana. The day before the race I’m in the pits and a guy points up the hill and asks me if I see the bear. He then tells me that this area is full of grizzly bears. Thankfully I didn’t see any during the race but years later I watched a documentary on bear attacks in that area. I’ve encountered bears twice in California. Once on my mountain bike, and once on my dirtbike. They’re pretty impressive. When they run full speed they roost branches and sticks like a 450. Thankfully it was away from me.
Normally ill rarely see a snake on a ride. However, a ride I did a few weeks ago I saw about 5 black snakes. Started getting pretty nervous about dropping it through the tighter slower stuff, haha.
Pit Row
Came across this big fella on a trail awhile back. Glad he’d already had a feed 😂
Here in Texas its common. Diamondbacks in south and copperheads here in DFW. Saw a beautiful Indigo not too long ago. Had to be 6.5 feet. He was out in the open mid day. Not scared of hawks nor me. Just cruising for dinner full of confidence.
On some mtn bike trails, I came up on a bobcat. He was walking away from me on the trail so I smiled and hollered. Scared the life out of him. Hogs & coyotes are a pretty normal deal.
I almost hit a donkey once, scared the shit out of me. He was facing me and looked like a monster since I only saw two front legs 😂
Yes it's gnarly. Also a donkey kicked a rider passing by good luck the kick hit the bike and not the rider
This came off the middle of one of the tables at Pax a few months ago.
Moose are pretty bad, they a just big and blind with rage for no reason!
I caught this big guy out on a winter ride a few years ago, I tried to talk him off the limb but he just kept saying he was a bird and laughing … crazy isn’t it?
I’ve encountered snakes, deer, hogs, turkeys and tortoises at Croom alone! Not to mention a few squids, spodes, rednex and kooks!
Where were you riding in Kentucky?
Ran over a rattlesnake- hit a baby deer😥 and had a closer than I would have liked encounter with a bear in Michigan. Oh and lots of squirrel and turkey close calls.
You pansies need to quit being scared of snakes "coming after you"
Nothing scary but always a surprise. Deer, turkeys and other small critters are common. Black snakes occasionally. Worst thing was falling into a yellow jackets nest. A few encounters from my private offroad spot.
