I had a tough concussion like that, hit the back of my head on the frontside of a whoop, flying backwards after swapping. Took me a month to feel right. I get that a concussion is not as series as a spinal cord injury, and that most of the time you recover from a concussion faster than broken bones, but the cumulative effect of taking hits to the head is the most dangerous part of the sport, besides paralysis. It's just hard to see someone hit the ground like that, and I hope he takes off enough time to be 100 percent. If it were me (a neuroscientist who works in neurosurgery), I would be off the bike for at least 4 weeks, away from racing for at least 8 weeks, for each concussion. It's just not worth the risk to hit your head twice within a couple months.

Your down vote was probably from someone with more education and experience than you.

The FXR helmet is a 6d, real good helmet.

Club put out a press release saying he'll be back at the next round. I normally hope that they're taking concussion protocols seriously, and people playing doctor from the couch should quiet down as they don't have all the information.

But after hearing RJ joking about cross jumping Phil on accident while concussed and had no idea what was going on, it's evident some of the guys are completely ignoring/bypassing concussion safety protocols and it has me worried a bit. Hope I'm just being a couch doctor and am 100% wrong.

Not downplaying a concussion by any means. Poorly worded on my end. He laid there without moving any part of his body for minutes. With his history, my mind went to spinal cord injury while sitting in the stands.

Mine went to KTFO. There is a thing called coup contra coup concussion. His head slammed backward and rebounded  forward. That is like 2 hits in one crash. I didn't think his body hit the ground all that hard. It was the backward whiplash action that was vicious.

A few years back one of my best friends decided to get back into racing in his mid 40s. He took a couple of good hits. One was a bad concussion for sure...probably a mild concussion with the other hit. A few months later he took another hit the weekend before Thanksgiving. He was in a coma for a few weeks and didn't leave the hospital until after the New Year!

He's still not 100%  Multiple concussions are no joke.

I didnt hear RJ talking about this - so if i'm wrong feel free to correct me. But I assume RJs concussion happened mid-race, not much anyone can do about it in that situation, you can't make everyone who crashed sit out and go through a concussion protocol. Plus the next round is 3 weeks away from his crash, so it should be plenty of time to heal up

It happened last year, they've mentioned it a few times on Pulp and it got brought up again last week when RJ and Phil were on together. I'm not 100% positive, but I think it was a triple crown and he raced all 3 loopy. If I'm wrong and it was all in 1 race, then I agree, it's hard to police that.

The outcome wouldn't have been any different in a Bell or Arai helmet.

Joe Rogan’s podcast with Dale Earnhardt Jr. is a great insight into concussions, the recovery, and the long term effects if not treated properly.

if it was a triple crown that's very lame, not hard to diagnose a concussion, it takes about 2 minutes of talking to the person lol

Jeremy has had terrible luck the past few years. Hopefully this is the end of it and he can have some good moto's.

The televised angle of the incident that was shown on the peacock broadcast was Jmart rag dolling hard and then it appeared he was trying to sit up. a Red bike went flying by him and when the bike passed him and he was visible again he was flat on his back. I was wondering if this bike or riders leg clipped Jmart in the head.

Best wishes to Jeremy for a full recovery! Concussions suck.

You can't put a time frame on when someone can come back from a concussion. It takes a proper neurological evaluation along with the fact that people heal differently, provided he submits to a good evaluation.

It is a little rude to say it like this, but I'm also a little worried about Jeremy if he keeps racing supercross. Maybe he can race the AMA Nationals on a 450 to show potential MXGP teams that he could be a interesting option for them. In a very nearby future will Ducati need someone to race their bike in the MXGP (2025) and because their American program only starts in 2026, an American rider could help them to promote the bike in America by racing it in the MXGP series.

Long story short:

-He signed a contract with Club MX.
-Exercised a clause to get out of his contract (50k buyout).
-Did it late in the year which left Club MX needing to search for another rider.
-He didn't communicate with Club MX. All of it was done through his agent.
-Signed with Star Racing.
-Club MX isn't happy about how it all went down.

No.

Even if you don't care at all about protecting guys from themselves, I guess you missed the interviews with riders where they talk about cross jumping and forgetting where the track goes when they rode with concussions. It's mostly about the health of the guy with the concussion, but it isn't the only consideration.

If that 3 year deal includes sx, then that’s kinda crazy to me. Outdoors I could still see him going for 3 years, or going up to Canada and being a title contender still. I respect the grit and grind he has in him, but sx has never been his thing. His first 2 years pro he missed making mains, he’s yard sailed himself out of a couple titles in the first race, and he’s just gotten older now. A 450 outdoors will maybe make him happier than thinking he’s going to go after another 250 title and then wading himself trying to keep up. I think he’s got more in the tank, just don’t know why he keeps going after it in sx when he probably has more than enough money and is doing it for the love and for the grind. And yes I know he waded off the hangtown start, but he was on a 250 and maybe on a 450 with less expectations he’ll be a little more content.

I don’t care to see him race supercross.  Win or not.  I’m excited to see him on a 450.    He got 2nd at Daytona several years ago.
