Elsewhere on this forum people are saying scaphoid break. If true, he’ll be out til motocross.

I'm reading it takes an average of 12 weeks to heal. He got hurt a few weeks back so lets say at max 8 weeks recovery by Detroit. It's possible he could be close to 100% if he's lucky. Idk if it's legal but there's many treatments that speed healing and heck some make it stronger.  Probably missing quite a bit of a time on the bike though. He posted he's racing. Hopefully he doesn't cause long term damage coming back early but they always make smart decisions. Probably take him a bit to get back to his best

He could have already gotten it plated, we don't know if he has or not but if he has, that recovery time could be 3-4 weeks or so. There's about 4 weeks until detrpit and has hinted on socials that he will be in detroit.

His scaphoid wasn't displaced and was a hairline fracture closer to his thumb. He is on track to be back on the bike in two weeks time.

I hope that is true boom. I love watching the kid race but that was the one thing I was worried about he rides on the edge and was worried about injuries shortening his promising career.

Most of us know that a scaphoid can cause a world of shit when not healed 100%

The folk behing him know the deal and won't  release him to ride prematurely.

Wishing him all the best.

The Deeganites didn't seem to mind hearing about his over achievement in his rookie year ad nauseam. I wonder if they will be as receptive to hear about his underachievement in his second?

I have the scoop on why deegan is not racing the west, hot off vitalmx.

Hopefully the truth will put all other speculation to rest.

Realizing that his tonsils could accumulate particulates if he had to come through the pack after a bad start he decided to have them removed.

He decided to go out and ride his dirt bike to help ponder the decision, and while cooling down and distracted by his thoughts, came up short and cracked his wrist.

No biggie, helped solidify his decision, and plenty of time to heal before Detroit.

Then while being wheeled to the OR for the tonsillectomy, there was a mishap with the gurney, causing it to fall over.

Upon making contact with the floor Deegan suffered a broken scaphoid.

In a rather freak occurrence Deegan's mechanic was helping push the gurney, as any good mechanic would. He realized there was a malfunction and tried to catch the gurney with his leg and suffered a broken femur.

Hospital security has been reviewing security footage trying to identify an unknown individual in a blue hoodie that appeared to have tampered with the gurney.

and for those asking what time Deegan will race, it will be shortly after 2:30 pm on February 3, 2024, if he has a mechanic.

Deegan wasn’t scheduled to race west coast, anyway.  He has plenty of time to heal.

Not if he broke his scaphoid.

He’d be very fortunate if he heals in time for the east rounds. The scaphoid is a small bone with low blood supply and breaks are known to take a very long time to heal, even if those breaks are small and otherwise uncomplicated.

Underachievement because he is injured?  Not cool.

I cannot understand why they wouldn't just post up the details.  It would do nothing but add transparency leading to more views etc.

They should probably release a statement about the situation now when credible media is also talking about a potential injury.

They might not announce anything because he is trying to be ready for round 1 of east coast 250 sx.

If the story of it being surgically repaired is correct that would be considered a complication.

His off happened a while ago...most of us probably saw the little clip...nothing was said. They later found out that his scaphoid took a little hit and he is now on the mend.

Nothing serious. He will be healed up and will be ready for East Coast series.

People like to create a shit storm in a tea cup to generate "hits" on social media.

Looking forward to this year, the kid has worked his ass off to be a title contender.

If what you're saying it true and the injury happened awhile ago and they are just now addressing a fractured scaphoid, that is not good at all.

Just ask Rick Johnson how an untreated scaphoid fracture works out for you.

Sounds to me like they discovered the scaphoid wasn't healing and likely had avascular necrosis, which is what happened to me twice and what happened to Rick Johnson and what happens to damn near anyone who breaks their scaphoid and doesn't allow it to heal properly.

Hopefully his surgery was a success and he heals well. I was thankfully able to get back to near 100%. Some aren't so lucky.

I broke my scaphoid and had "successful" surgery and it still feels like shit almost 20 years later

As a Christian myself, it isn’t very exemplary to be having anger and language issues with random people online lol.

We have one saying he just got hurt that is supposed to know and we have one that seems to know saying he was hurt before, lol, vital.

My money is on Swap (because I know he is not some internet clown) with him being injured just before he posted he was going east. If slang is correct (we did see the clip of him yard darting in a dirt clod with his wrist) it seems unfathomable he was riding all this time without an x-ray, serious fail.

Right there with you!

Seth did his last year the week leading up A1.  He wasn't able to return until Red Bud.  Everyone heals differently, hoping he heals up completely and doesn't rush it back.  It normally takes forever to heal anyway and with this new schedule, if he comes back too early, it will take even longer.

I crushed my Navicular in my foot. Its pretty much the same bone as the scaphoid but in your foot/ankle instead of Your wrist.  I was cleared to ride and only because of pain did they look hard enough to find that it had not healed. I know other racers who have been cleared to ride but then have pain so they do more extensive imaging.  It could have been missed at first, and recently reimaged after the pain returning when he tried riding again.  So both could be correct.

James Stewart had a tiny crack that kept him out for almost a full season.  I wish I had waited longer to ride. First off the ER misdiagnosed my injury and that resulted in a few weeks going by before surgery. So I was doomed from the start. They had to undo the little healing that had happened.  and then Pin it together. That went as well as it could have. I was cleared by my Dr. But the first was just a regular Orthopedic Surgeon. After riding for 2 years on a not fully healed  foot, I found out the bone had died and I had another surgery to fuse my foot and plate it. This time I had  the top sports Orthopedic surgeon in the area do the operation. He only worked on top athletes or people with very bad injuries . He was working with Red Sox players and Olympic skiers while I was being treated by him. I had 6 months of things going well, followed by many years of hell after. A mix up in my charts resulted in me going home early and not getting the antibiotics I should have gotten. 6 months later I felt a burning that would end up being the first sign of the MRSA infection I had.  That took a long time to get sorted out and fixed to a point that it is not an issue every minute of my life.

I know my injury was much worse than is reported with Deegan, the point of the story just being that all it takes is one of the many people that are involved to make a mistake and it can turn into a disaster. Plus I wanted to ride so bad I was not honest about still having pain. Looking back  at it now, that is most likely the reason my injury took so long to be fixed. Hopefully Haiden is not as stubborn as I was , and the people around him do a good job of explaining what could happen if he had complications.

I can only imagine how much more I would have wanted to get back on the bike if I had a year like he had. He stands to make millions , while I was spending 1000's.   I'm sure he has the right people around him. Of pretty much all the racers, I think he would be one of the last to have anybody pushing him to ride too soon to make money.  I think most people on here know how those types of injuries are not the same as  a break  of a bigger bone, and take more time. I hope that Haiden's injury was not bad enough that he needed surgery.  Like him or not, it would suck to have an injury like that so early in his career.

Of all the bad traits that social media has brought us, surely among the worst is the word “hate” being applied to anyone who deviates in the slightest from glowing support of another person.
