It's been mentioned by ML512 and other media that Team Honda CRF25OR bikes have a modified airbox. Specifically, the relocation of the air filter creating a straight path into the throttle body.
Team Honda has done a good job of always covering up this area during bike maintenance. But I found a picture that I believe shows this modification posted on mcnew.com.au
Thought I'd share incase others were curious. Zoom into the area pointed out.. The orange fabric I believe is a Twinair "dust/mud" cover.

Those Hondas been strongest 250f engines last seasons. Their stock isnt that good so radical mods needed.
Strongest no.. but less bad.
I think I read in MXA that honda 3 D prints a new airbox.
Is that why they got pulled on starts all year and up Mt. Martin

I haven’t seen a 3D printed version, but I have seen a pretty known Honda outfit’s airbox that has pieces JB welded together and are getting 20% more air volume with this configuration. It places the air filter straight down the intake tract like a Yamaha.
If they would trust the consumer to always use a wash cover and not ride in the rain I assume that would already be in production. Is there a cover over that or just the seat?
This is from 2022 at Ironman
I believe this was Jetts bike
This year Jett's guy wasn't as secretive at hiding the airbox. I didn't get any pictures unfortunately, but the 450 had this same type of filter/cover.
Even weirder was Sextons bike had the stock airbox with the upside down clip in filter
Nice shot! Thanks for sharing👍
Too bad carbon fiber subframes are not legal in AMA racing... Probably would see some interesting designs.
Here is a carbon fiber subframe/airbox one piece unit made by CRM. Gives a clear idea (for those that don't know) how the stock Honda CRF air filter is mounted (the OEM air filter hardware is not installed at this point)
I believe they are using something similar to the Twin Air powerflow kit
This looks alot like what Jett's Mechanix pulled from the airbox this year at Ironman
I would bet there airbox/ filter is something that twin air does not sell to the public. Just like how star has a “custom” air box that there is not many pictures of or what it is exaclty….
I think I saw an interview with Lars. And he said dazzy had a big influence in the design of the airbox.
The Old model Factory Yamaha has custom Airfilter
Some privateer MXGP teams were using older 20-22 airbox on their new -23 450f bikes.
This is what Vital needs more of....
That’s more than likely a star airbox if they were still building motors and supplying technical support to the GP team
That’s hilarious. Did you watch budds creek where hunter cased big gulp from the outside the whole moto where the kawis and Yamaha were making it from the outside?
Honda has been noticeably the slowest 250 at the pro level. Closer than years past but still it was obvious at times to be slower than the rest.

more pictures ?
Friends with the mechanic at HONDA ?
COME ON VITAL
DIG DIG DIG
How did you come to this wild conclusion? The Hondas legitimately got pulled on the uphills and the sand.
Does anybody else have pictures of these? Specifically the 21-24 CRF 250/450 HRC airboxes.

Here’s a link to the phoenix Honda airbox. Custom bits. Dude wants crazyy money.
How did Phoenix Honda make that ?
Molded plastic seem to expensive
It looks like 3D printed white nylon, with a back coating
I saw that. Looked interesting, but it’s overpriced.
Also, the HRC setup looks to be a modification of the stock housing rather than a clean slate fabrication. I’m curious to see how HRC did it.
100% agreed.
HRC one was clean slate but meant to look more production to keep the secret.
The Phoenix ones cost $1,500 a piece new if I remember right.
So, Phoenix Honda sells team parts a la Pro Circuit?
No. I meant that’s what it costs Phoenix to have each one made.
