T-handle vs. ratchet

I don't see the advantage of T handles.

With a small ratchet, long extension and a few sockets I can do anything I need quickly.

Us OG motorcycle mechanics luv our T-Handles 8mm, 10mm,12mm 14mm always handy.  Torque Wrench is built in to the wrist....

I use both T-bars and a 1/4” ratchet.
Most jobs are t-bars, but there’s some that a ratchet is much more suited to because of limited access/ space to turn a t-bar, e.g. hose clamps, KTM top triple pinch bolt, rear mud flap/ shock protector etc. Also prefer the ratchet for certain jobs because of the ergo’s involved, e.g. perch bolts.

T handle is a better weapon 

I use a tee handle ratchet some, bought it for cheap off Amazon I think.  I think bought two, 1/4 and 3/8 tee handle ratchet.  Just depends what I grab first.  Back before electricity was discovered Craftsman made a really cool tee handle 3/8 ratchet.  I have one somewhere.  Everybody needs an 8,10, 12 tee handle.  Cheap and they work.

1/4 inch drive cordless ratchet, Guess it to be 3 volt.  Low torque, works good on plastic.  

I have both plus a 12v milwaukee impact with a socket adapter. Makes taking stuff apart real quick.

Electric. Nuff said. Everyone else can have a pissing contest over brand.

What torque value do you use for rim locks?

Where do you buy an adapter to use your torque wrench on the valve cores on your tubes?  What torque value?

Radiator hose clamps?

What about those wood screws into the plastic on KTM's?

What adapter gets your torque wrench on your gas cap for fill ups?

Anyone using t handles or ratchets to tear or build bikes up in 2023 is living in the fuckin dark ages.

What's the alternative?

Electric. You couldn't pay me to go back to hand or air tools. Snap on, Milwaukee, or something similar. If you work with your hands electric is a game changer and I fought the change for years plugging away with my stupid pneumatic shit watching all the electric nerds. Im the alpha electric dweeb now.

If I’m taking off one faster, I may grab a tee handle.  If more it’s cordless most of the time.  

Does someone make an electric torque wrench?

No calibration certificate? Pffffftt....

Motion Pro T handle for all 8mm bolts- anything bigger out comes the ratchet

They should have a T-Handle torque wrench. The skilled technician probably can nail it like in a previous post.

They also look pro.

I put clear fuel line hose on the handles so it feels better. If I was real ambitious I would paint them first and then colour code them so they are easier to identify.

I leave my T handles at home (got them a long time ago) and find myself using an ASV Y handle tool most of the time. 
Ratchet only for bigger than 19mm or 1/2 drive.  

Pretty sure vital user GE217 either holds a patent for that or was in process of getting one at one time, I know he definitely made a few. Another company has made them and charges a pretty penny for them, but the torque range is pretty small if I recall. There is one on Amazon from China too, but it has a cheesy plastic handle. 

The advantage most aren't talking about here is when you're a tech doing trackside support or working at the races, it's incredibly hard to just drop and loose T handle, compared to a regular 6mm or 8mm socket that can fall off the table/bench/tray and disappear into the void. I still have complete T handle sets that are over 15 years old but the old trackside socket sets are missing one or two of those smaller sizes. In a shop environment though, it's hard to beat a *insert your favorite brand, as they're all good these days* cordless driver.

I used to like the speed wrench doing engine work.  Now I like like my M12 or M18 Milwaukee with a 1/4 flip 8-10mm socket on it. (or whatever size) I'm surprised every time I see a mechanic in the race pit fiddling around with a wrenches. When he could have saved his rider a lot of time with some type cordless impact.
