He is one of the smoothest in europe, and he is the best starter. Nice combo, I think he can adapt quite quick. He would be a 250 contender quite immediately, but I am more afraid of the 450, on rutted minefields late in the main, to have some sx experience is pretty important. I vote 250 first in 2025 just for sx Smile

don't get that rule really..........

whoops are a killer and a 250 class may be a better learning ground.?

i remember hakan carlquist(?) competing in SX here in Oz and he looked like a total kook!

might as well be ice hockey to some of these euro riders.

Its to late for Prado he has a MXGP 450 title which means he will have to start off in the 450 SX class if he comes. He will not have the benefit of learning in the 250 SX class. The cut in pay he will have to take to come over will be way to much for him to swallow.

Can’t say I’ve heard of that rule, but then again it’s a long time since an MX1/450 champion moved to the US.  I think Tortelli or Albertyn (whoever came first) was probably the most recent.  Reed was second in 2001 MXGP but then was forced to ride a 250 for his first year.

Yep and that was a year wasted imo.

Prado and Bam on the same team ... they should change the logo to a pirate flag or something else similarly menacing.

If I were Prado, I'd do select SX rounds for the first year, similar to Justin Cooper. Hit up all of the triple crown races because of his awesome starts and Daytona, as well as a few other miscellaneous rounds. Focus on being healthy for outdoors/smx then full attack in 2026

Love it, when top talent comes across the pond it deserves some respect.  It isn’t easy, and the steepest learning curve is SX

Awesome. He’s gonna cop a lot of hate from ignorant people due to AMA VS. MXGP pissing match. But clearly he’s a world class rider and one of the best on two wheels. Somehow I think he’ll be fine figuring out SX and adapting. Interested to see how this plays out into the future.

You are ignorant to think the way you do.

Ville(most recent example) is arguably the most well liked French rider to ever come over. I haven’t heard one person say a bad word about him and typically everyone says quite the opposite. This isn’t the 90s anymore.

Super odd that a premier rider from Europe would want to race in the USA....I thought MXGP was the premier series in the World according to some folks here?

In Spain we use 2 last names, the first one is generally inherited from the father and the second one from the mother, his full name is Jorge Prado García,
Fun fact: Rubén Fernández's second last name is also García.

Reading comprehension ability is questionable among the Vitards!

It gets tiring having to spoon feed you guys!! Put my post in context. hotshot Euro comes to America and goes home on crutches. I started my post with do some research . . . Correct? So, if you think I'm comparing Prado to Coppins in speed and skill level, you truly have a reading comprehension problem. And, if you don't know Coppins broke both heals at the same time on an American SX track, you probably shouldn't have posted a reply.

Supercross is really dangerous and there is NO substitute for a couple years riding those tracks before you jump into the deep end. Riding a track for 2 days when you are 14-15 years old is not the same as racing Jett, ET3, Sexton, Webb, Andersen.

I am a Prado fan and was very happy to watch him dominate MXGP this year.

I will end there where it started . . . Do some research on how many MXGP guys have gone home on Crutches trying to jump right into the premier class

I hope he comes over here for a couple of the first supercross rounds in '24, goes back to MXGP wins Title #2, then comes to USA for the remainder of his career..or at least 2 years.

Yeah, he was here for a few months riding sx then and not just 2 days. He will be just fine. His background of riding some trials and just his technical ability, i say hes probably better suited than a lot that have come before him. When he got done doing motos, he would just goof off for an hour or two just play riding and it was cool to watch the things he would do. I would agree he may have been better off starting as a 16 year old but, i still stand by, hes gonna be just fine. I wouldnt be surprised to see him inside the top 5 or 6 right off the bat and the sky is the limit from there. I could be wrong but, i've seen a lot of good riders riding and he is one of the best and its been 6 years, he sure as hell hasnt gotten worse. The first day i went out with him, I told the crew chief they needed to sign him and do whatever to get him in the US immediately cause he was going to be a champion.

Prado vs Jett would be an absolute treat to all fans of mx/sx. This would be a battle for the ages. I really hope this comes to fruition, this would (almost) make up for Herlings never coming over. Speaking of Herlings, since he got injured yet again maybe its time he tries something else? I know he hates sx so maybe just do a season of outdoors plus smx? That would be great to watch.

Didn't work out for Josh, No. But you've picked one example. So if we stay with that specific theme.... New Zealand rider, racing in Europe, then coming to Supercross....

.... how about Ben Townley? That worked out pretty ok.

Point being. Entirely depends on individual rider, and their skillset
