Boys, its Saturday ...06h55 here (SA)...the long wait is over. Its Race day although it will be a midnight gig for me.

The crime and all the other bullshit topics can be kicked to the pavement and its time to focus on how I'm going to watch the SX this evening.

Silly season is over and some really solid discussion will rise to the surface.

Happiness boys..happiness!

I never implied that the crime committed against the OP sucks.

I was commenting on the fact that dude said the world is going to shit and crime is rampant... when it isn't compared to 40, 30, 20, 10 years ago. We are getting safer and more secure, but it is possible to look up every single crime within seconds.

That's all I was commenting on. I never mentioned the OP.

What freakin' news channel you watching?
You’re both right. Major US cities have seen a spike in crime, but the spike results from several decades of declining crime rates. The numbers we’re seeing today were the norm in the ‘90s. Doesn’t excuse recent trends, but statistically the metrics should flatten or return to “normal” in 2022, versus continuing upward.

You can give the law enforcement the location, but doubt they'll do anything anymore! Yeah, unfortunately most PDs won’t do much on small ticket items. But vehicles are something most PDs will dedicate a unit to so warrants are often not hard to come by unless you really do have a shitty PD.

This world we live in is rotting and festering like a ripe boil. I mean, the crimes taking place...murders, rape, armed robbery, hijackings, theft and everything else in between are rampant and its getting worse every year.

The laws and sentencing are not harsh enough for the guilty. It is also unfair that the tax payer has to foot the bill for prison time.

Expidite death sentences for those on death row. Time in jail with extreme hard labour. Bring back chain gangs...let the fuckers work to pay back society. Get found guilty for theft a second time then chop a hand off. Jail time must be so Shit that a criminal will think twice before committing a crime.

A criminal should lose his human rights. It's time to put the law abiding citizens first. Treat criminals like garbage when inside. Flog them daily.

My house was cleaned out some time back. The bastards were caught and got out with a suspended sentence.

Serious boomer energy when you all just blatantly say dumb stuff like this.

Crime isn't going up, it's going way, way down... you just have the access to hear about all crimes nowadays so it feels like more.

It isn't hard to find validated data from trusted sources (unlike some stupid shit like ironpartriotsforamerica dot com or whatever malware sites you all visit)

--------------------------------------------------------

Riiiiiiiiight, crime is going down 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

I just made a post n non moto about going to my local VONs for groceries. They had to eliminate carts because the thieves were filling them up with groceries and walking right out the door and they are powerless to stop them thanks to the criminals that are in positions of power. Let that sink in….a grocery store with no cart! You buy what you can carry thanks to the scum who think it’s okay to steal since you won’t be arrested/charged. Yeah right, crime is going down…..that has to be the stupidest crap I’ve read in this forum

LOL. Crime is not going down anywhere. If anything it is literally becoming more acceptable! Luckily I travel often and there will not be any BS stats that convince me otherwise.

I had my play bike (Z50) stolen out of my garage after my cousin forgot to close the door. They left my 1995 CR 250 a& my cousins KDX 200 behind. I was livid. I went to all the local MC shops and spoke to both the parts department and the service departments and asked that they keep an eye out for a Z50 or persons buying parts for one (no Honda dealers close by).
Sure enough, the local Kawasaki dealer service department calls and they have a Z50 that is fouling plugs in for service. Seems the knuckleheads filled the bike with my premix before stealing my bike. I called the police so they meet me at the shop. They (the police) gave me my bike back as long as I didn’t press charges…..the co*k sucker thief was the mayor’s son.
Go to all your local dealers, spread the word everywhere.
What??? They would only give it back if you didn't press charges? That is messed up.

Great idea to check with the dealers...

1) You cannot leave a bike unattended anywhere unless it has at least one good lock on it.
2) Insurance is cheap and worth having.
3) Both bikes that were stolen in 2019 were recovered months later. The person with the Aprilia SXV550 motard bike wasn't charged, and the person with the $6,500 KTM (that was thoroughly destroyed by the time it was recovered) got a $3,000 fine in court.
Police laziness and weak laws are common all over the world.
Forget about getting your bike bike after it's been stolen - it's all about preventing it from being stolen in the first place.
4) The KTM that was stolen in 2019 was actually stolen again this week... from inside the house, with the back wheel out and an OnGuard 8046 lock on the front disc. The thief put the back wheel back in, and then tore the house apart until he found the key for the OnGuard lock.
I'm not too concerned this time - police know who it is (fingerprints everywhere) and the bike is insured this time. Because police will arrest and charge the thief I'll get my insurance excess back and not lose my no-claim-bonus.
Lesson: hide the key(s) better than what I did (they were locked up in a steel stationary cabinet). Get a good safe fitted to your house, and have a cheap decoy safe somewhere else.

I've been copying/pasting/recycling this text file for a while now. Learn from my experience.

Two of my bikes were stolen a couple of years ago - they were stored inside the house, with locks on the discs and they were still taken. The Xena alarm disc lock on one bike and the padlock on the other bike were absolutely useless (ie both easily removed).
Lesson: Do a bunch of research about bike locks and learn which ones actually work. Nothing will beat a portable angle grinder but the next level of attack is hydraulic bolt cutters.
So, that's my minimum standard now - if something can't beat hydraulic bolt cutters then it doesn't go near any of my bikes.
Summary: Get a Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit and/or OnGuard 8046. Buy them on eBay US and pay the postage. I'm using both - one of each per wheel. Xena alarm disc locks are useless so I've got an ABUS Granit Detecto XPlus 8008 on the way (ie better quality alarm disc lock). Yep, I'm going to have two or three locks on each bike from now on.

Some points:
1) An angle grinder will cut through anything. It won't take very long but it will make a lot of noise.
2) Any lock can be picked by someone who has the skills and experience. However, very, very few thieves will have the required experience.
3) The main tool to be concerned about is a set of hydraulic bolt cutters. These will cut through almost all locks quietly and quickly. Hydraulic bolt cutters is the "standard" that you need to defend against.
Almost all locks can be cut open easily with hydraulic bolt cutters. It takes seconds to do, the tool is easy to acquire and doesn't make any noise.
4) For a disk lock it's all about the strength of the shackle and thickness of it - enough to beat hydraulic bolt cutters. The top-end Kryptonite and OnGuard locks have this. Almost no others do.
5) Don't get sucked in by any bullshit marketing and sales pitch. Before buying anything search for it on Youtube and see how it handles bolt cutters.

Hydraulic Bolt Cutters:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4VGcoMU8_U

Do not buy any lock until you have searched on Youtube to see how it handles hydraulic bolt cutters. Very, very few locks survive.

Two brands that have locks that defend well against any sort of bolt cutters are Kryptonite and OnGuard.

Note: The Australian distributor doesn't sell the motorbike-orientated 8046 or 8112, but you'll get them on Amazon.com.au or eBay.com easily enough.

A friend was shot in his chest right after pulling cash out the ATM.The shooter took the cash and fled. My friend died. Was it necessary to shot him? These guys don't give a fuck for anothers life.

The OP gets out of his bed each day and goes to work so that he can pay the bills. He works to pay for the roof over his families head. He works to put food on the table and he works to buy those motocycles for his kids.

Ever see the Papillon movie? Serious crime and repeat offenders need to go to a penal colony...that will be a great deterrent.
Agree 100%. They know even if they get caught for murder they still get to live the rest of there lives. Granted in Prison. If you murder someone you should get the death penalty, simple as that. Granted the process would need to be sped up. Would save the tax payers money clear out most of the prison population issues. You take a life unjustly you get yours taken. Now that’s a deterrent.

I always take the ECU off of my bikes after I ride them. I come home from riding, wash my bike and unplug the ECU and take it in the house with me. I also keep my bikes chained up through the frame. Even if they managed to cut the chain or lock, the bike is inoperable.

Sad times when you have to do so much to protect what you work for and buy. Then it gets taken and there is no restitution.

Do you realize that a lot of larger crime ridden cities are no longer allowing police to arrest for a lot of offenses. Those numbers will be greatly skewed when the police are no longer allowed to do their jobs. It sucks, and I’m sure mxlawyer can attest to this since he’s probably been in a lot of court rooms, but criminals are being left off with a slap on the wrist left and right. Police arrest them and district attorneys are more worried about their conviction rates than getting justice. In 99% of these cases they take really sweet plea deals as opposed to doing any real time. We have a lot of issues within our criminal justice system.

My brothers Apple phone was stolen, we tracked the location to a house in some seedy part of town, found a cop and told them the exact location, but without a search warrant, they wouldn't do crap. Told us if they went up to the house, who ever lived there can call them every name in the book and tell them to get the F off their property, and they'd have to, he said it happens all the time. You'd possibly have to watch the location and hopefully get some photo evidence, then maybe they'd step up. A phone isn't worth the hassle of dealing with a possible psychotic homeowner, but some motorcycles probably would be to some?
Maybe don’t blame the cop for our shitty justice system. Go talk to an actual cop once, I guarantee you they’ll have the same opinion as you about the hurdles they have to go through to do just about anything anymore.

LOL, you seriously lack basic reading comprehension, agn5008!!
No where did I say anything about a shitty justice system?? I was quoting what the cop told us when asking him about going to the location to retrieve the item? I've got plenty of cop friends and back them 100%, and cant believe the shit the have to go thru!!
So put your glasses on and learn to comprehend what's being said!

Weird. Your source in a current article (not one from 2019) shows this....

"The U.S. murder rate rose 30% between 2019 and 2020 – the largest single-year increase in more than a century"

https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2021/10/27/what-we-know-about-the…

And another source I expect you would trust.

"US records highest increase in nation's homicide rate in modern history, CDC says"

https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/06/health/us-homicide-rate-increase-nchs-st…

Just wanted to update y'all and give a shout out to the Waterbury CT. police department.  Just found out they recovered my son's YZ 125!.  Two years later and we got 1 out of three back.  I talked to the arresting officer and he told me the bike is in good shape and may even have some goodies on it that weren't there before.

Hopefully the POS who stole it gives up his buddies and it leads to getting them all back but this is a great start.

My only issue is I moved to Florida so I can't be at the court hearing to "address" the punk or make a Victim/Witness Statement.  I will try to get restitution for the tow fee I have to pay and hopefully he fails to pay and goes to prison with the really bade dudes.

Again, thanks to the Waterbury police and their task force that is reuniting lots of good people with their bikes.

You do realize that it's the criminal justice system...not the victims justice system.

They tell you who they are in their titles if you're paying attemtion. Stealing is legal now just ask any cop if you talk to that scum.

I hope they actually have room in the jail to lock him up.

At least you got one back. I'm sure it doesn't make you feel that much better though. I'm in CT in a decent neighborhood. But I still don't even like starting my bike that much at the house so people know I have a bike

I hear the air tags can be detected and deleted which I’m sure that’s the case.  But I doubt that’s the first thing the typical wheelie boy is going to do before he rides off on it or loads it up.  Maybe a pro, but not the dumb ass meth head.

Yeah it’s easy to cut a lock on a trailer.  But a simple alarm with a screaming honkin horn and flashing light going off is not a bad idea.  Back in my tournament bass fishing days we had thieves that followed the tournament circuit.  Electronics on a bass boat cost about what a dirt bike cost.  Thieves love to see all those boats in hotel parking lot.  When a thief sticks his head under the cover and sees that little red light flashing on the dash he goes to the next boat.  One of these days I’m going to flip my RV we don’t use and get a hauler.  First thing I’ll do is an alarm system.  Not fool proof but they help.

I hate a thief.

In todays world, your typical biker boy is a professional thief. Drones, night vision, everything. The others are just crackheads. Honestly i wish theyd all do it the legit way because some of them are extremely talented on the bike.

Where i had mine located was in the sticks in a locked shop which was under surveillance at an occupied residence. Theyre very lucky they didn't meet my father.
