That's not strictly true, there's a (small) minimum 23000 Euro purse that pays down to 14th place and I seriously doubt that a single US rider has ever been required to pay their own air tickets and hotel.
Exactly. Just send a damn team even if it means ending up in the B final .
To be fair to Yamaha they're just covering for their most valuable asset
Couple things. 1 USA would be sending a team if they thought they could win. 2 Star would support the race if Deegan, Cooper or Eli wanted to go. 3 People saying it cost too much-do you really need all the people there that you are paying for? Of course it cost Eli $10k if he’s paying for 10 people to tag along. Agree in front should suck up one race to not make money off of, thus should be a non-profit event ALL teams get expenses paid, but USA could do it cheaper. 4 people complaining about racing for nothing have no qualms about Feld and MXSports requiring the back markers to pay to race and travel all over the US for nothing

During LL Weege interviewed a guy in charge of Des Nations fund raising for USA so do not use the excuse of "too much money" because the resources are there. This situation is the epitome of the state of our country right now, no pride, weak leadership, and entitlement mentality. I don care who goes, it could be 3 guys from C practice, but send a team.
If the reigning champs don't participate, I don't even know what to say. It will be satisfying when Jett dominates them all next year. And by that I mean the top guys that don't want to go.
Don't be so harsh on him, most Americans haven't been to Europe, let alone France.
Yet most americans have their roots in europe
And all humans have roots in Africa!
Isn't it logical for pro teams not to want an opposing teams manager involved with their riders, bikes, and mechanics? It has taken Star, and Kawasaki years and millions upon millions to build these teams only to have a competitor have them and interact with them for a week? Almost sounds like blatant industrial espionage. Do you think the Cowboys would bring a 49ers coach in for a week to help out? The owner of Star had car dealerships, does he invite competitors sales managers in for a week to check things out? Roger has been a liability to the team for years, both KTMs and the desNations. Reference any of Austria's 250 teams stateside, the mishandling of Caorili and Dungey's comebacks. I am 58 and not as sharp as I used to be, he is 80 years old. It would be like Gerritt Wolsink or Kees van der Ven managing a team, the sport and it's athletes have moved on. How many of us 50+ years old can relate to 20 somethings we work with?
Haven’t been overseas, so all my roots have been in Australia……never mind I’ll see myself out
You need to get out more, experience the world!
So is the USA sending a fucking team or not? bunch of wussies man. American pride my ass. Here's your captain america .
Yeah, some decent questioning of the teams would be good, but with moto 'journalism' such as it is, that is not going to happen.
Pretty sad state of affairs for USA MX.
Yep, bangs in about USA blah blah, but is to scared to come over and represent.
Double edged sword for both riders and media personnel. If they speak up, they get the cold shoulder. It comes off extremely unprofessional and childish.
Cheer for the Canadian team!
Pit Row
Yeah I'd like to hear why he passed. Not to beat a dead horse but pretty weak after the way he propped himself up as the American hero this summer
Whats even more fucked up to me is how fans seem fine with the state of affairs. Not Vital but we're on an island over here. I see all over social media how the race doesn't matter and these guys gotta get ready for sx. What?! What happened to national pride? We're all in though when the race is in the US and we have a team that can win. Then it's shit talking and chest thumping all over Instagram and FB
Almost like it was just a dog whistle the whole time…. Who would’ve thought
They should ask this kid, he's very Pro-American, as you can read in his helmet, I'm sure he would give 110% in the event for his country, his Blood is Red, White and Blue.
His team is also very Pro-American, and they also value this event, as you can see in the following photo, look at the trailer door.
Pretty fuckin lame if Star won't let anyone go if Deegan said no.
Like I said previously this is history repeating itself, in the late 70's to 1980 the US teams didn't support the MXDN and TDN and wouldn't send riders. In 1981 Honda sent their whole team to compete and the rest is history until now....The US teams think the world revolves around them in this sport and with Kawi starting the trend of refusing to let their riders go and when they did go to Red Bud in 18 their main purpose was to test the 2019 bike, they separated themselves from the team to the point they used their own headset and had zero communication with Team USA. Now it appears that Star has decided to take the same position as Kawi and with the majority of the best riders on those two teams it will make it difficult at best as we will only have the KTM group to chose from. Where do we go from here? I have no idea but it is a very sad and frustrating place to be in US MX. It's not a money thing, money is not the issue it's a culture and emphasis on SX issue that the US teams have adopted over the last number of years and if it wasn't for races being held at Red Bud we would have seen this sooner.
It seems the guys running the teams have way too much influence in this decision. This should be a riders decision and should be asked from an unbiased group that picks the team. Set aside $1-$2 on every ticket sale to help fund it. Don’t allow any team manager or any higher up from any team to be involved in the decision to avoid conflict of interest. We have plenty of knowledgeable people in this sport that can come together to form a USA MXDN committee of sorts that aren’t team personnel.
MAKE MXDN GREAT AGAIN GOSH DANG IT!!!!
That's not true...
It did feel as though there was real unity last year and a new leaf had been been turned, but it appears it was just more convenient to work together due to the location.
At this point, Sexton would still be far and away the best pick if he threw a leg over a KTM for the first time at practice that morning, or Kitchen on a PC bike.
Still blows my mind Kawi wasn’t talking to anyone at MXdN in 2018. Truly goes against everything the race is about. Bruce must be a very miserable individual to be that petty.
It's more that Bruce its the teams culture.
