I've noticed that when I shut the gas off, the YZ125 revs super high right before it shuts off when the gas runs out of the carb, the YZ250 doesnt do that. Maybe it has something to do with the V-Force reeds? I can't wait for the heat to die down so I can get this thing out on the track and have some fun!

This is pretty much something that happens in all 2 strokes as they run out of fuel and lean out. The idle circuit in a Keihin PJ is based on this very principle.

BTW it is never a good idea to let a 2 stroke run out of fuel because you also run out of lubrication.

Just picked it up yesterday, I think I'm never going back to my YZ250! lol, its very quick with me on it, I'm 180 pounds and there is no vibration in the foot-pegs or handle bars, very smooth. Interestingly, this thing has not dripped a single drop of oil, my YZ250 spit oil everywhere from the breather hose, I am not sure if a 125 is jetted any different. I did not know they come with a V-Force 4!!

Don't worry about the lack of splooge; the dealer probably just didn't put any premix in it. Woohoo

Nice bike.

Nice bike.

Thanks! I think they actually ran double the premix on this first tank like they did my YZ250, The breather hose doesnt spit but the Silencer & pipe sure do! She's spraying premix all over the bike and killing all the mosquitos at my house hehe.

Those smoky smells... it's funny how the smell of a 2-stroke can take you back.

After talking to everyone here and getting good advice about pre-mix, I am officially off of Maxima927 and getting something more suitable to my riding style, I went with the HP2. Its a distinct smell for sure, smells like my old CR80 from 1991. The Maxima 927? smelled like Supercross 1999 in the Georgia-Dome. The Yamalube the dealer put in my YZ125 smells no different than when I was a kid riding on my friends Yamaha jet ski in 1988!

Edit: I have not ridden the YZ250 in months, I have been riding 4-strokes some and my 125. This monster vibrates! Anything I can do to cut down on vibration? New Handle bars/foot pegs?

I used Yamalube for 10 years, 927 for 10 and now use Motul 800. All great oils, but 800 is by far the cleanest burning premix I’ve ever used. Less smoke, no spooge, long piston life (all of which the others offer too). Before having my motor built I ran 40:1 premix (you don’t need 32:1, but it gives some peace of mind), 178 50 jets (east coast sea level) and dropped the needle one clip— it just seems to clean up all the circuits a skoach. 110 hours of Moto (budds creek mainly) piston every 25 hours and never had a single issue, just FUN.  Throw a v force in, change filter every ride and it’ll be a better bike than when you picked it up from the dealership

I'm no expert, at all, but it used to be widely said that the ticket used to be the BRP top triple clamp/bar mount to ease the vibration a bit on the 250.

I bet there's a more recent equivalents, the XTrig PHDS bar mounts are a noticeable on my dirty four stroke.

Thank you! Do you think a set of Pro-Taper bars would help any?

Pro Taper Evos dropped the vibes over the Nekens on my mrs' 150sx however there wasn't a lot to start with somindont know how much it'll help, personally...

I do know I've seen the Elite2stroke Instagram dude and a few people here and on thumpertalk mention them specifically in relation to YZ 250's. Last time I saw a thread come up about it a few people, including Billy (Luxon, super smart engineer and good dude) mentioned putting a length of foam rod or similar inside the bars or even expanding foam or similar helping. There used to be a specific product that went into bars, 500 guys used to rate it, but I can't remember the name at all.

I need a two stroke again sooo bad, this thread is killer 😂

Lol you rang? Evo’s are definitely my favorite bar. To be honest I much prefer the look of crossbar style bars like twinswalls.. but they’re extremely stiff and no flex aka all that energy is transferred directly up your arms. Evo’s flex, which your arms will thank you for. Flat bars may feel a bit more “vague” than twin walls but I’ll take the flex n comfort over the responsive feel n dead twin wall arms :-). I really like 7/8 (crossbar) bars but they’re impractical as they bend way too easy. I Have pro taper carbon bars too.. they’re more rigid, I prefer eco. you can also try rubber bar mounts, silicone on the handlebar used to be done as well. Soft grips over something like Renthal kevlar.. if you want to drop the coin,  xtrig rocs with phds n Evo’s are the best you can get imo 🤘🏻

An old friend’s new bike. He has a decent collection including the Bradshaw replica Vuillemin put together, and a Mach 1 Yamaha that was apparently Nick Wey’s practice bikeBECA10AE-C24B-40FD-88E9-0750C0F0B339.jpeg?VersionId=hF5wSXKZ6 le88i1igg24Wu.

No idea as I don’t talk to him.😂 It looks like the VRP stuff. There’s a member here “luckynino” that has these and raced them back in the day.
