450 moto 1 they are to busy talking about random stuff while sexton is doing sexton stuff and dont even mention it until they notice a few minutes later.  Please someone tell them to call the race rather than tell stories.

Moto 2, they didn't notice Ferrandis was down off the start and was 37th.

They finally caught him when the moto was almost over, and he was just outside the top 10.

They need a spotter in the booth.

There are moments where RC truly seems like he can't find the words to formulate his thoughts...

If even a foreigner can notice it, yeah, there probably is a problem...

To all the RC haters you must have a perfect personal life and do everything to perfection, congratulations. 👍🏻

He’s got a personality, not a drone, and a ton of experience and insight. How do the announcing bobbles affect your life personally? Serious question… do you pick apart your wives and kids too? Buncha tools 👎🏼

It's not his personal life, it is his career choice. Most people in their careers are at least OK at them, sadly RC isn't at this one. That he is in the public eye, embarassing himself and making the sport we all love seem even more bush league is catastrophic to his legacy as the greatest mx rider of all time. Too bad.

the problem is fixable but RC won’t do it. solution - forget your marks, forget your cadence, forget trying to be professional, forget what the experts have told you, and most of all kick an executive in the balls when they try to tell you “how this is done”. lastly, just be yourself. say what you want when you want and let the rest take care of itself. that’s how to be a good announcer if you’re RC.

This is just not true. It's not a conversation with buddies. It's a skill. Like anything else, to be good at it you have to have a certain amount of baseline talent combined with putting in the work. People get degrees in broadcast journalism. RC doesn't have the innate ability to do this job. He just doesn't. Try as hard as you want, you can't polish a turd.

No one else has bad days where you feel off eh? Perhaps he had some covid brain fog or something, when he was trying to explain the different riding styles with deegan, he knew he was getting lost himself I think with what he was trying to say. I give him a pass. Wasn't his best, wasn't his worst.

All of his days are bad.

Many here give him a pass because he’s the GOAT. He’s as bad in the booth as he was good on the track. Any casual viewer or someone tuning in for the first time no doubt thinks the announcing is god awful.

I can’t even watch tidal 24 anymore, he’s worse on that, and RV is not much better.

If there was an add on to the subscription that allowed me to mute RC I would buy it.

Deegan was nearly crashing about 3x in a lap but instead of calling the race RC was blabbering on about how “Deegan style is just right for him, I’m not saying Jetts style is perfect bla bla” (WTF seriously?)

It’s evident he is trying hard to give the unique perspective that JS7 is bringing, it’s just not working out.. sorry

Well if we are going to bring in a "Richard Lewis" type...i vote for teaming up Weege and Jeremy Martin with Theo Von.

Theo starts talking about mentals and sawed off humans, Weege and JMart will break out in their signature giggles.

I was in Qualcomm stadium 2001 to watch him beat McGrath and was a fan ever since... then when he joined SX coverage and would be constantly putting his co- commentators down and sounding like an insecure douche that lacked any humility or self reflection... Maybe that's what you have to do to be the goat?

I dunno, Emig seems like a really cool dude, lives the sport he is an icon in, to put Jeff down was lame.  Then came the continual LCQ jibes as Blair... laaaamoo!!!

Why should we have to settle for second best. Almost everybody who has done color for SX or MX over the past two seasons was better than Carmichael.

Though admittedly part of it is that any color commentator has the possibility of getting frustrating when they keep repeating their points.

RC must have some pictures of Bondo that he doesn’t want anyone to see and Bondo has similar on DC. What else could explain the obsession with mediocrity for the broadcast??

The epitome of his announcing career came in moto 1 of the 450s. RC was talking about how he doesn’t like this outside line Jett is taking as he’s trying to get around Barcia. Then Jett makes the pass on Barcia using that exact outside line as RC is saying that. So when RC analyzes the pass he says this was all set up by going outside here before Henry Hill. Classic.

I've listened to RC talk in casual conversations as a guest on podcasts and he's actually fairly enjoyable to listen to. However, broadcasting a live sport is a different skillset - it takes more than knowledge and experience in the sport to do a good job; you also have to be a proficient speaker and have a well-above-average grasp of the English language (or whichever language you're announcing in). Carmichael does not have that grasp. And, yes, it is true that 99% of the people watching the sport and complaining also don't have that skillset, and that's okay because we're not getting paid to do a job that requires that skill. But Ricky is, and just doesn't deliver.

I agree.  Ricky is a great podcast guest.

Agree with everything except 99% of us are way more educated then RC.

I just watch the races and mostly don't hear the announcers, no matter who it is or how good he is.  It's not that hard unless you're more focused on announcing than action.  Occasionally I'll notice something bubble up interesting, but most of the time they are white noise like the dog barking outside (sorry Weege).

The best announcer won't make a boring race good, and good racing doesn't need announcers.

RC announcing is pretty much like Ted Nugent trying to do hunting shows. He shouldve just stuck with rock N roll. Stay with what made you famous, or STFU and stay on the couch.

Yeah but that's why JS is so good in the booth. He doesn't try to make himself sound "smarter" or any different than his normal dialect which is great. He just gives it to you like he would if it was a 1o1 conversation which is really all that's needed.

I agree, Ricky is great on podcasts etc but as soon as he gets in the booth it's like he tries to dress up his dialect and go over the top with everything instead of just talking naturally. He's great whenever he's on pulp, I really enjoy it.
