For example - TM who doesn't make many bikes - should have a smaller homologation requirement than that big 5

100% 👍

Biggest issue that they have at the moment is electronics, be interesting to see how they deal with that in the USA.

How cool is it that there will be two new manufacturers competing in Supercross in 2024?!

yep..more OEM's = more rides ($$) for deserving riders..................... ala COLT!

And more jobs for team personal too. Truck driver, mechanic's, etc.   And more chances for more brands  to be involved with a Factory team as a sponsor.

I had worked out a deal with a Beta team that was going to do Works series races a couple years ago. A Factory support team. I was going to be able to sell team replica kits. Got as far as getting the designs all OKed by everybody and  then it fell apart when the teams main (Only Rider) was injured just before it really got going. Liqui Moly was also going to be the title sponsor then.  I thought that was cool. But its even cooler to see them involved in a SX team.  My contact was in the Off road world  and has since retired ,so I will not have anything to do with this team.  The more teams the better!

If I was beta I would have hired colt first then Benny. Sorry but not sure why they would have hired Benny first unless pops is cutting a check. Colt at least has sx wins and mx podiums on a lites bike and a sx title.

They needed to sign a rider by a certain date. Colt was going to be that guy, but they had to work out the contract details and that took time, so they announced Bloss before Colt.

Makes sense but at the same time, a company not selling enough bikes to require homologation probably is not going to have the budget to go racing.

Homologation should be easy for Beta, I dont imagine the 450 MX bike being radically different to the existing woods bikes. Probably same frame, slightly different engine internals, transmission and tank etc.

Not sure how many woods bikes they sell but every Enduro and Dual sport ride I attend there are a ton of them usually the 45-65 year old crowd with lots of disposable income.

I didn’t see if someone already covered this.  What is Colt riding in SMX?  He just had that stock ish Kawi with no real support for the outdoors so why doesn’t Beta just give him a bike for SMX?  He would probably top 10 with it.

Mav or ML,

Will Nichols be continuing WSX on the Beta for RWR, or dropping out to prep for 2024 SX? While I can understand Beta not wanting him to race for another "team," it seems like it would be an excellent opportunity to get some testing in under race conditions (albeit shorter sprint type races, he'll be good for heat races!) and do some development. If I'm Beta I'd lend a few techs to RWR and set up a deal for advertising gear/graphics to help incorporate the Liqui Moly/Beta Brands (Roczen style).

RWR already has full race bikes built, paid for, and in travel cases. They cant swap them out and I highly doubt they’d want to be doing testing for Beta when they have a proven package to go racing on with Colt right now.

Colt will finish out WSX for RWR on their Kawasaki.

Also, Bloss and Nichols don’t have Beta 450 practice bikes yet.

Also, RWR’s title sponsor is an oil company, Mobil 1.

No practice bikes yet? ....seems a little sus

I personally think we're gonna hear a lot of "were still making progress on the bike, it's not there yet" ....not being negative bec congrats to colt but I don't think he'll be pulling top 10's

I've said it a bunch (probably even in this thread) but I am so soooo hoping Colt has a good year.

Dude is a badass on a bike, he's a grafter and he's humble, gotta respect the guy.

Last race Colt cashed a pretty good check on non factory bike.  I recall 5th, I’d have to google to confirm.  Seems like one of the announcers said it was a show room bike he bought for the race but I could be mistaken. Would think he could do similar on a factory ride, new start up team or not.  But then a showroom blue bike with a good set up is a pretty good racing scooter.

They weren't for 2023, but will have to be for 2024.

There is no way around it.

I really am disliking the whole small factories don't belong in pro racing vibe. When did our sport become a bunch of non-inclusive elitists?

Have Benny or Colt been spotted riding the bike yet?

86 days til gate drop and Benny is still rolling a 2 stroke and Colt is still riding other brands.....doesn't seem like a great start.

I am very curious about who the suspension tech is over there. If they’re doing it in house they must have grabbed someone good, right? Wondering how long into the season until they bite the bullet and start running KYB… Tongue

I could have sworn I read on here that Shane Drew is the suspension guy. He's been around a while,  former pro himself and factory mechanic for several top riders and teams. Might have been Triumph.

Suspension guy is Bryce Rivera.
