Keep hearing about this ‘thin’ field, but who’s missing?
Tomac was ready to retire at the start of the year and wasn’t even expected to race until he was talked into it during SX. He may or may not be back.
Roczen has been written off by most of you during the last few seasons when he has been there.
Barcia? Hasn’t been a contender for quite a few years.
Webb? Was there, but wasn’t a contender, as he never has been in Outdoors.
So the field is thin at the front of the pack because of a few guys that are towards the end of their careers? This is just how it goes. Get over it and enjoy the racing!
Butron 6th overall, confirms what a Mickey Mouse class this 450 season is. Was a 20-30th place guy in his last 3 MXGP seasons. Jett looks phenomenal but at this point nothing more than a racehorse in a farmers barn.
Butron can be seen somewhat as Masterpool too, he already finished 3rd in the mx2 championship, dealt with injuries later, but was still fast.
The field is not that deep, ok, but the leaders are still fast. I didn't check the gaps this week, but last week the 5th/6th guys (i.e. AC) were 1 minutes 30 back. Only Ferrandis, Sexton and Roczen remained in the same picture this season, within 20 to 30 seconds.
The only rider who will give Jettson a run for his money is not in the class, and tends to attract bad luck.

Sexton still looks badass on the bike and is still gapping Ferrandis, who's obviously not at his potential speed but is still gapping Plessinger or whoever is next in line where the field thins out.
It's just that Jett is even faster again 😂
Please explain why this season is boring and the 24 -0 we're better. Those guys were winning by a minute. At least Jett slows down a little then hits the after burners . The rest of the field has good battles this year
I don't see anyone beating Jett this season. Maybe if Chase was 100% at Unadilla or Washougal, but I don't believe he will be at the level he was last year by those races. I do believe if Roczen had not signed to do WSX, and he came into the outdoors with the health and momentum he had going in SX this year, he could have gotten at least one moto win. And I think that win would have come at Unadilla. Kenny has been a master rut rider his whole career. The year Ferrandis won his championship in '21, Kenny smoked him and won Unadilla. The track had long ruts on the straight aways and corners like always. Roczen had technique at certain tracks that gave him an advantage, and I truly believe, had he not done, WSX, he would have been the guy to ruin Jett's perfect season.
I hope Roczen does Unadilla.
Jett passed sexton in the first lap as if he was standing still. The narrative of him not being 100% is ridiculous. If it was towards the end of the moto then I might buy it. But not in the First few corners of the first moto.
Ain't gonna happen, according one member on here he heard Jett Lawrence say he's only riding around at 80%, so if he wicks up the effort to full 100% Warp speed, 2nd place will be like 3 minutes behind even if Chase Sexton is 100%. Crap! Jett's so fast, he'd have time to pull over during a moto and get a few phone numbers from the Hotties standing next to the track and still win the moto by a full minute.
If Jett wasn’t there
Chase would have won two of the three races he entered. Would we say he was suffering from a concussion by his performance? What about Dylan with the points lead? All the results as expected with Tomac injured.
Jett is just riding at another level and everyone is looking for a reason why he is winning other than the obvious.
I think the craziest part is how quickly he flew past DF and CS at the start of each moto. He loses a bit of time to both coming out of the first turn with the way his bike slides out meaning they both had better momentum out of that turn and a few bike lengths on him. But then somehow he is able to make up that time and be ahead of them almost instantly. He then just settles into a solid race pace once out front.
He has done that a few times this year when he didn't actually holeshot. It's just ridiculous how quickly he can get to the front of everyone.
I seen this video the other day. It might be what they are talking about.

I think Mosiman said to ride it 80%
Big bore kit
All the low key Lawrence haters like to keep moving the bar as to why he's winning... the whole time he dominated the 250's and won 4 championships in a row the narrative was " wait til he get's to the 450's and run with the big boys he'll get put in his place" and now he's dominating the 450's in his rookie year the narrative has switched to being " oh but the field is weak " when it's only really Tomac whos missing now....
I would love to see what the headlines would be if it was a US rider doing this ?? Can just about guarantee it wouldn't be titled as being a boring series that's for sure
All these aussies trying to make it about him being Australian and not realizing Australians are the Americans of the British empire
Every one of his competitors was injured at some point in the last few months. He's smooth as a babies ass for sure and he's fast as hell but not exactly a level field out there at the moment. Roczen was healthy but basically had 4 hours of outdoor testing, he's been the closest to beating him. I think the people will get serious when SMX starts.
Jett looked and sounded spent at the end of each moto and didn’t have the fastest lap time in the 2nd. It’s difficult to tell just how hard he is pushing as his style looks effortless.
Pit Row
2002 / 2004 / 2023
1. RC / RC / Jett
2. Ferry / Reed / Sexton (barring his injury)
3. Lusk / K-Dub / Ferrandis
4. Tortelli / Vuillemin / Plessinger
5. Lewis / Fonseca / Cianciarulo
6. LaRocco / Byrne / Webb
7. Dowd / Wey / Masterpool
8. Hamblin / Tortelli / Noren
9. Reynard / Voss / Marchbanks
10. Ramsey / Hamblin / Locurcio
I don't see a big difference in depth compared to when RC went 24-0. I would argue that Sexton is way more competitive to Jett than someone like Chad Reed or Kevin Windham ever was to RC. As far as depth goes, is there a big difference between someone like Sean Hamblin and Fredrik Noren? Not really.. Kyle Lewis, John Dowd, Sean Hamblin, Robbie Reynard, Nathan Ramsey were "factory riders" but I wouldn't consider them any better than a modern day Garrett Marchbanks or Ty Masterpool. Downvote me all you want, I think you guys are bitter and aren't appreciating how good Jett is.
Ppl can like the rmz now
People are watching greatness and still find reasons to cry. What Jett is doing right now is simply amazing. Yes, lot's of injured riders. But you still have to do this, as a rookie. That is impressive.
This stat is really blowing my mind this morning
Too many guys hurt and recovering, not up to speed even from last year. WTF is going on? Its literally the opposite of last year. We had insane battles in 450 every weekend last year. This year everyone is coming back from an injury except Jett. Last year he could barely beat Hampshire, Cooper, Shimoda, & Hunter... Shows you where the problem lies here...
Absolutely agree twotwosix. I've not seen someone so obviously head and shoulders above everyone else as Jett since James Stewart arrived as a 16-year-old.
For those of us who feel motocross is far superior to supercross, having a pro motocross national get dropped instead of a supercross round was pretty galling.
Until you consider the 12th round was another Pala race but in August AKA Satan’s asshole
I can tell you from experience...the heat/track at Baldwin KS was WAY worse than Pala ever could be.
1 thing I have noticed with chase. Is he looks extremely frustrated and pissed off in the media interviews.
When he was crashing and getting beat by tomac he was happier. I think he knew he was next in line. Now he looks super stressed. And I think that shows something.
Some1 also asked chase what's the difference between racing jett and Eli. He said jett is a better faster rider and Eli has more grit and determination.
Good comment. I think you might be right.
I think that’s part of the reason that people think it’s boring
when rc was winning by a minute, there was no way to question that he was the greatest.
with Jetts just win by enough style, it makes you think someone can beat him, so you’re just waiting for a battle that isn’t going to happen
