Only $10 for all 2026 SX, MX, and SMX series.
There was a lot of copium in that interview. I get it, it's his job, but some of those answers regarding the US factory teams essentially shunning this series weren't that great or non answers. "Oh, Cannondale is racing SX? You said factory US teams."
I’m confused, Chad said the manufacturers are not in America. So take Honda for example, who ultimately calls the shots, American Honda or the powers that be in Japan on what series they support?
That’s why he made the comment about Cannondale.
I think he made the Cannondale comment as a bit of a smartarse shot (as is the Aussie way) at everyone who talks about the ‘manufacturers’ not supporting WSX, but what they are really referring to is only the US divisions of the real manufacturers I.e. in Japan and Austria.
Reedy backed that up by saying the American factory team bosses don’t support it, because their job is to deliver in the US only and they’re protecting their investments and that’s understandable.
He sounded exactly like I expected him to sound when I heard he got this job..... like a dope.

Right but shouldn't that be alarming for the series when the best SX riders are on the factory American race teams? How do you remedy that other than making a joke?
WSX is directly competing with the 2 largest motocross series in the world and trying to sell tickets to a Roczen vs privateers night show. It just seems like they're trying to run before they even know how to walk. When there are privateers turning down WSX rides, surely everything isn't exactly as peachy as a $6M payday for Roczen.
I get where you’re coming from and there’s undoubtedly some harsh truth in that, but I still think, in reality, WSX is only directly competing (unfortunately) against the Nationals and that it’s up to the AMA teams in how they manage it.
For teams like HEP, it’s not a problem, however for some of the US factory divisions it certainly is. There’s one thing for sure; WSX, succeed or crash n burn, has woken up the American moto scene complacency, and how they react is going to be interesting over the next year or two.
17-11-3 is a lot of racing in the US.
The relatively large prizes on offer this year are one thing but will be contingent on the money being made going forward- ie bums on seats and NBC selling enough packages to attract decent advertising bucks.
Seems like NBC/Feld/whoever is underwriting this are taking a financial gamble not much different from the WSX punt.
Remember, and as Reed pointed out, none of the riders are bagging WSX.
WSX has done nothing but split the talent up in our already very small sport. Hopefully it fails after this year, we never hear about it again, and our riders come back to racing outdoors.
"Everybody wants to go to wsx" is a bold face lie.
I really hope you’re right. I can give two shits about any of those meaningless races
I’ve always really liked Chad, but that interview was horrendous. He was basically a douche the entire time.
He was only doing what he is being paid to do....
Hey Don, Cooksey’s making you famous! lol
at the 3:30 mark.
I just saw that in another thread!! and as I said there his take on me is about as accurate on his take on RC and DB....such a tool!!
Maybe I should mention the DM he sent me thinking I was Swap asking for a job...
Serious question, Webb has said multiple times he intended to race WSX this summer. Obviously things changed but how was that going to work under his KTM contract? Or was he maybe going to leave KTM early, ride a for a Yamaha WSX team, and then shift to Star for 2024?
Haha,, I've never been a fan of his and that smug interview cemented it.
Stock in Chad Reed just dropped into the red....
I didn't even listen to the interview...won't even click on it. The wording "Everyone wants to come to WSX" is beyond laughable.
Can't wait to see WSX relegated to the trash bin of history.
Same here, was my fav US based rider for his whole career, but he came across poor in that interview and made it sound like he doesn’t care if outdoor mx lives or dies as no one is interested in it anyway and SX is where it’s at.
Pit Row
Reed saying that it doesn’t effect supercross failed to address the issue that the series had started working together , and that started before wsx, and is why they dropped the fim giving them the opportunity
ktm is the only manufacturer that runs a world wide race programme under one umbrella , and they are not supporting wsx either
Wait a minute, you're not Swap? Who's Swap then?
Meanwhile at chads house
Ellie!!!!! get me another packet from the pantry…NOWWW before my delusional opinion on WSX wears off….GRRRAPE!
No matter what you say, nothing can change my mind.
Without the WSX starting up the AMA would not have knee jerked and started there own super duper series.
If, and when the WSX fails. Let's see how long the AMA super duper series continues. They will use reasons of rider fatigue, or lack of sponsorship, or some crap, and it will be gone. Then there will be nothing.
The WSX gives fans outside the USA to see great riders racing. This builds fan intrest, which passes onto the real AMA sx season.
That was good. Good find.
I actually hope WSX really takes off
Everyone wants to come wsx clubraces.. races that are now canceled because no one interested? Reed is missing some info?
You know what they say about starting a new business, it takes at least 5 years before your start seeing a return or progress. As much as I love the American nationals and Supercross, I could sacrifice both of those series and share with the world, as long as both become one series(SXGP and MXGP) and America gets at least 4 rounds each. This would definitely resolve who’s the best in the world. lol. I know, I’m dreaming and wishful thinking.
Reed has been such a clown these last few years especially.
Chad came off as Chad. Really he didn’t understand the manufacture support question? Yes get it you are being paid but it was made very clear last year that Honda and KTM were not going to support this series. Yeah he has some inside conversations that are 180 different than what the actions have been, ok…
Chad Reed has rarely had a filter...but at this stage of the game, he'll say whatever the ones paying his bills want him to say. I promise you the only reason a currently relevant rider like Kenny Roczen would go to ride the WSX series is because of the money. Plain and simple. The only other reason any other riders would "want to come to WSX" is because they need the exposure, and NEED THE MONEY!
Anyone saying Reed is only saying these things because he’s paid to, haven’t been paying attention for a very long time…….
Chads a kook, always has been.
