Yup....same here...
Agreed. I have been a supercross fan since 91 but the older I get the more I appreciate the entire outdoor package. The size. The heat and weather. The fans. The length of motos. All of it.
Also, I need to come clean here and get this off my chest... I live an hour away from RedBud and I have never been there.
There. I said it.
But this is the year. I WILL be there this summer.
It’s early, there’s still time to delete this. 😂 do not share this with anyone ever again ok haha
Hard to get very excited for outdoors without the defending champ

I’m not going to lie, I was pumped for MX but w/ most of the field out of play & no defending champ, I'm not as excited as I normally would be. With that being said, I’m sure Jett & Chase will give us some epic battles so I am looking forward to that along w/ the 250 class!
*Edit: let’s add Dylan Ferrandis to the conversation.
If only Dunge made his come back season this year, he would probably land a 3rd in the championship barring Jett or chase crashing out.
Attritioncross
In all seriousness I am excited for outdoors.
Dylan was the fastest man at the MXoN last year. Don’t sleep on him!
last year showed it only take 2 riders to create an amazing championship all season long. I think we got at least two guys that will be battling up front all summer!
You’re right, I forgot about him. He could definitely make it a threesome…
Watching Jett and Sexton will be exciting. The 250 class should be crazy as well.
I think Dylan has only got back on the bike within the past few days. Not sure how ready he will be if that’s the case.. I could be wrong though.
With no Eli, Coop, Roczen or Anderson I’ve lost all excitement for outdoors. Supercross is awesome, but I always look forward to the crazy speed and strength we get to see from these guys. I hope Dylan will be up to speed and keep it on two wheels, otherwise I probably won’t be watching much, if at all.
As long as the outdoors aren't runaway series by 1 rider, I don't care who is lined up. I just want both series to be competitive racing. Given Jett, Dylan, and Chase are all going to have the same speed the 450s should be very competitive at the top. Barcia has been riding great this season and could make some podiums (possibly take a Win too) once he gets back from injury. 250s should also be very competitive racing. Eli will be missed for sure.
Me too. Bring on the outdoors!
I get this comment- we are all still feeling bad with Eli out and it knocks a little shine off. But there is still a lot to be excited about- Jett, Sexton, Ferrandis, AC….Hunter, Deegan, Shimoda, Vohland, RJ..etc. It’ll still be a great season!
The defending champ wasn't there last year and we had a great season. Would the season have been better if Ferrandis been able to line up? Absolutely.
It sucks that Eli is out, but we could still have a great championship season.
Hit the reset button .
...and all the other top level guys who are out due to SX meat grinder.
I completely agree. The 250 call should be good to watch!
Pit Row
Yeah
I´m going to Hangtown
Don't forget about the boys throwing down across the pond tight now as well!! Been some pretty epic races already!!
the 250s is looking like it's gonna be an all-time season. With Jett gone, it creates the perfect situation of who is gonna fill his spot. Justin Cooper, Tom Vialle, Hunter Lawrence, Jeremey Martin, and Jo Shimoda all pretty much have equal speed give or take. Add in the likes of Kitchen, Hampshire, and Deegan, this thing is gonna be wide open barring many injuries.
This will be the third straight 450 outdoor season in which the defending champ will not be lining up at round 1.
'21 - Osborne retired. '22 - Ferrandis injured. '23 - Tomac out for season with injury.
Really sucks for the sport in my opinion. Supercross really takes away field depth for moto (I know Osborne retiring doesn't necessarily have to do with SX).
I am very interested to see how the 250 class shakes out, there's a lot of storylines to follow.
Hunter Lawrence - will he cement himself as the top 250 rider in the USA with two championships in 2023 between SX and MX?
Justin Cooper - with a full SX season to get healthy and prepare for outdoors, will he be able to atone for the 2021 championship in which a crash at Washougal threw his season out of whack, hurt his hand, and lost the title to Jett? He's won a regional SX title, but a 250 National title against the likes of Hunter Lawrence and Jo Shimoda would really beef up his resume.
Jo Shimoda - can he be fast and consistent from the beginning of the season until the end and possibly steal the title, driving his stock up and move forward in '24 as the favorite to win with Hunter and J Coop eventually moving up?
Tom Vialle - already having great success in the GPs, will he come into the American series and be "the man" right away? Or will he have some difficulties adjusting to the US tracks & summer heat - both scenarios are possible.
Jeremy Martin - health is the biggest question mark for him. When he's on a bike, he's always wicked fast on a motocross track. If he can stay healthy for the whole season, his ceiling is very high (2 time Nationals champ). This is a tall order, though, as he hasn't stayed healthy for a whole season since 2020 and the chances of him avoiding injuries go down as he ages.
Haiden Deegan - after a strong rookie SX season, can he back it up with a consistent and competitive outdoor season? Given the competition he's lining up against along with his lack of experience, it would be overzealous to expect title contention - but racking up top 5s and battling for a few podiums, along with staying healthy, would cap off a successful 2023 for Haiden.
Obviously, there's other guys that could make some noise (Kitchen, Forkner when he comes back, etc.), but these are the guys I'm most interested in following closely.
Did you feel that way last year?
Supercross is getting way to cookie cutter and this Lawrence Sisster circus is running the broadcast. Outdoors would have been great but with all the injuries its gonna be one Blue bike Smoking 2 Red bikes. Rub it like you like but Tomac out decreases the interest level allot.
It's going to be a great season, only 11 rounds long!
Fuckem, they know how to ruin a great thing.
Vialle will be awesome this summer....
Agreed.
Going to an outdoor race is just a different vibe entirely. I’m REALLY hoping I can make it to Southwick this year.
I really believe we (feld/ama/ mx powers) need to consider 12 sx and 12 mx with 3 smx whatever they call them. Sx is a tough series and at 17 rds its almost a rarity to have the field make it through to mx.most titles are wrapped with a rd or 2 to go. Careers could be longer and the nationals have the fans that actually buy and support the sponsors. Wouldn’t an even amount of each be the true test of a championship? So yes, bring on the nationals🔥👍
