Dude is as good in the booth as he was/is on the track. Not to compare Ricky and James but.
RC was nervous as fk first season repeating himself just to talk.
James is a natural in the booth, like he's been there for years.
I think the two together will help RC become more relaxed.
Good stuff!
They need to stop asking James to commentate because he makes all of the other announcers look bad
I agree with everything you said
RC’s better with Stew there. He’s also better with Diffey than with Harris.
I absolutely love James in the booth!
Five years ago I would have dreamed it was possible to have him as a regular in the booth, and I definitely wouldn't have thought it would be this good.
It makes sense that JS7 and RC4 bring the best out if each other now, just like they did back in the day. Makes me wonder if adding CR22 in occasionally might also be magic?

Never was a fan of James when he raced. I really like him in the booth though. Ricky,.....just the direct opposite.
Maybe but Chad likes to talk. Might not be enough air time for all three of them at the same time.
Yeah I don't think you could have all three at once unless on was on track with DB/JT and the others in the booth
James is good, on there.
I was thinking last night that James has a little Paul Malin ability to give the analysis but still be in touch with and comment on the play by play.
There have been a few times now where he's in the middle of saying one thing and can smoothly transition to something happening on the track, then pick back up where he was. Can almost call the race himself. I'm a fan.
"If I'm Webb, I'm letting him by. One less lap I have to do". I thought that was funny as heck. I wasn't a big fan of Stew when he raced, but I like him in the booth.
So! how many of these James is better than RC in the Booth threads are we going to have this year. When RC and Bubba were actually racing on the track, Bubba's fans were always saying James was faster, even though RC waxed him for Championships every year they lined up at the gate together, now they don't have that anymore, there's a debate as to who's the better announcer between the two. Eventually when these two are in a retirement home, Bubba's fans will be arguing that James is faster in his Wheelchair down the hall to the Lunchroom than RC is. When will it ever stop.
While I enjoy listening to James as a color analyst in the booth, all this talk about him being a natural and so great in the booth and better than Ricky is unfounded. I do enjoy listening and I like James, but just not seeing or hearing what is so awe inspiring about James' ability in the booth. He is an entertaining personality in general and can be humorous, that's about it. I have no issue with Ricky in the booth, or any color analyst for that matter. The real talent for announcing comes in the play by play calling action. I just get the feeling that all the people saying this are just huge JS7 fans and wouldn't criticize him regardless. No offense to Stew. This is a fan problem, not an announcer problem. JMHO
The distinction I see in the both between Ricky and James is clear, perhaps you can draw a parallel to their approach to racing.
James does not mess around with misc comments or filler words.
Ricky: “back in the day when I was racing I would have worried about passing Cooper to get back into the championship lead”
James: “Eli needs to win, riding behind Cooper won’t cut it”
I am always listening for the point of what Ricky is saying but he struggles to be clear.
And he has no “color commentary” like the “German chocolate” from James.
James is doing well. He seems relaxed and is full of personality and knowledge. It’s better with him there alongside RC. They were great as competitors, but seem like they are genuinely buds now.
I guess you are hearing what you want to hear. I recall plenty of clear concise humorous color comments from Ricky. My favorite one was "If he goes any slower in that corner, he'll fall over".. or the "I'm outta here dude". Many many good comments from Ricky over the years. Again, I like James in the booth. I'm just not seeing or hearing anything that you guys are talking about him being such a great announcer. Entertaining? Absolutely, its JS7. But some natural phenom in the booth? You just sound like JS7 fans being JS7 fans.
I agree that he is really good in the booth
He's the only reason I consider not fast forwarding to the beginning of each race, so I can listen to him. He's been awesome.
We have Ricky and James in the damn booth. I don’t complain.
Pit Row
I think James and RC are good together and best of all, they can both pronounce Honda.
James actually points out interesting things and doesn't fall back to a handful of generic observations like Ricky does. He doesn't studder or just randomly stop talking out of nowhere either.
It's a night and day difference.
I like him in the booth, but I wish he’d lay off the attempts to use new nicknames, making pun attempts, etc. It comes off as him trying to force in something that he’s planned way too far in advance.
One thing that having Stewart in the booth has shown is that Ricky lacks any subtlety when it comes to his on air training. It makes it even more obvious what phrases he’s been taught to use that season and it really comes through when the rest of the crew is talking at a relatively moderate level and he hears someone in his earpiece ask to turn up the excitement level so he suddenly screams out an ‘oh boy’ or something close to that. I wish he’d just go back to being himself instead of trying to listen to his media ‘coaches’ because it doesn’t seem like he has the ability of a great announcer but just being himself would be a great part of the broadcast.
It’s Devin Simonson. Not Devin Simmons…
James is excellent. He’s a natural. He’s an excellent voice for the sport. RC is good. The combo of RC and James is awesome.
Chad is an insufferable attention monger. Leave him out of it, for the love of all that is good and golden.
James made me not want to turn the sound off. I hope he becomes an every race deal
He adds great insight you’d expect a rider of his caliber to do. Carmichael does not. Stewart is amazing in the booth and it seems to come naturally to him. Loved his calls outdoors with Weege.
Many times James referenced a racing situation during their own battles, Ricky totally misinterpreted it and spoke on a different tangent.
James is already well ahead of Ricky in the announcing championship.
I don’t know why you have such a hard on for James and discounts anything he does. Why do you care what others say or likes about James?
I personally like James and RC in the booth together. I think they complement each other well.
Like saying "Neckburn" 50x times on a podcast?
My favorite quote from James so far was him telling Ricky he’s white toast and I’m (James) burnt toast when asked if they thought Eli would pass them in wins
I wouldn't exactly call it a Hard on, but I do tire of hearing James Stewarts fans continually discounting the achievements of other great riders who accomplished more in SX and MX championships and always trying to convince others that Bubba is the greatest thing since sliced bread in whatever he does. I don't think broadcasting is an easy job and I personally always enjoyed listening to RC's perspective on SX and MX, but now that James Stewart has thrown his hat in the broadcasting realm, immediately Bubba's fans start making comparisons about how James is much better than RC. If James decided to race Nascar, his fans would immediately start saying he was a better driver than RC was, it just never stops and it's like Bubba's fans feel as if they need to convince the world that even though RC and RV had better championship records, James was actually the better rider and make up excuses why he didn't win the AMA Championships he competed in against them.. I will agree that he was a fantastic rider, but I disagree that he's the FMOTP ever.
