I'd love to own one in the future to go tear up the streets and back trails in my little town. I kind of like having the option to pedal if needed.  But either way , heck yeah if I could afford one , I'd definitely get one. They look like a blast. And you can make them freaking rip!!

G....I am pretty sure I saw the helmet cam video of that. Going to see if I can find it again.

Sur Ron’s are a blast. Just steer clear of those agro mountain biker clickety clacker fags and their precious trails. If you so much as move a pebble on “their” trails, you’ll be up shit creek and they’ll complain on PinkBike and MTBR.com and then go cry to their wives and girlfriends, and boyfriends that they have to negotiate ruts and pebbles in their pristine trails.

Apples to oranges. There are a lot of places you could go on a Sur-Ron, that you couldn't go on a 450.  I'd like to have both.

Luna is NOT the exclusive US distributor any longer. Haven't been for a while, but they haven't updated their website...

Thanks, good to know. Maybe some competition will affect pricing.

I bought mine as a toy/pit bike. All I did was add taller bars, foot pegs and 52 rear sprocket. Wheelie guys go 54 or 64! LOL

I have a '23 KTM 300 XC, so serious rides are on that...

yep, mine will be a toy to buzz around neighborhood and a couple local open trails/fields. OHVs are legal on my local country roads as long as 16 year olds and wearing helmet. Our Winter just won't quit and all forest, BLM areas are closed until May 1st normally and too muddy and COLD right now anyways. Just need a little 2 wheel fix without making a major effort to get there sometimes. Once riding season hits the 2022 Beta 300 and VMX bikes come out to play.

And also look at the price of a 20" Stacyc. those are a little over 3K. You get so much more from a suron for $1200 ish more. And also compared to EMTB's it also seems like a great deal.  The original style  Sur-ron and Segway are very similar if not the same bikes.  I would love to get one, but I'm 6'9" and between 250 and 320 depending on what I ate for dinner and if I'm busy with work and not  getting out of the shop much. So I worry I'm a bit big for one. When I was in my late teens , I was the same height but just over 200 pounds and was able to have fun on an XR100 and XR 200. So I feel like it might be possible to have fun on one. Hopefully I'll get to try a customers sometime . If you are average sized for a motocross rider/racer, I would say 100% go get one and You'll love it. If you are already thinking of getting one, than chances are you will love it. If anybody close to my size has ridden one, let me know how it is. I've been 6'6" or taller since I was 14 , so I'm used to being stuffed into/onto things that are not the optimal size for me. I'm able to ride a size large MTB.

I keep seeing more and more parts for these bikes come out in catalogs or on parts sites all the time. Warp9 has Ti parts for them. And it seems like more companies are adding stuff all the time. Wheels , pegs, etc.

Other than Segway, I'm not sure who else makes a bike in this class. The Zero motorcycles might be similar , kind of a mix between Electric motorcycle with Downhill MTB chassis.  I have not looked at Zero in a while now though. I remember them being much more $$ . I have seen some more utility style options that might be similar in range and power. But the Sur-ron and Segway are more sport styled so not really the same things.  If anybody knows of other similar electrics like the Sur-ron and Segway  post some links up.

Segway version was the 1st 1 I saw on the bike hauler on a truck full of MTB. Maybe 1 year ago. Got home and googled and found them on Segway site- turns out they are just Sur Ron with Segway stickers and a couple minor fender options, etc. - and of course more $ for the Segway name...

Sure, but there’s also a lot of places I could go on a 450 that a sur Ron can’t. Id like to have both also

I'm confused 😕 What exactly are you getting for $1k? It certainly isn't a good MTB, hi performing E-bike, 450, or RV.

Just to make sure you’re not going to make a huge mistake with your life, let me give you a quick synopsis of my horrible ride today.  It started off with me riding through town to go make a new turn track in a nearby empty lot, as you can see conditions were terrible and I could barely contain my dread as the lines began to form in each corner.  I rode this miserable track until I just couldn’t take it anymore, and wanted to see how else I could torture myself today.

After that I proceeded to will myself down a bike path with no real destination in mind.  Here you can see me being sad by some grape vines I passed by.

After that I thought I might be able to find a reason to live by checking out another field, but as you can see it clearly was just the worst experience.

1834864C-A1D3-4CF0-AB48-705D3B91B219

And finally, just to cap off my suffering, I stopped by a nearby creek.  Here you can see me being sad by said body of water.

And you know what the worst part of it all was?  When I got home I couldn’t even change the oil or air filter, I was so disappointed to just roll the bike back in the garage like that.  So ya, as you can see, stay far away from these things or you to might have an equally miserable experience like I did.  Hope you can find the help you need before it’s too late.

Are those fields that you cross and make turn tracks in farmers grass land ?
I would imagine the owners would not be very happy with that.

Check out the Talaria Sting it's the evolution of the Sur ron Light bee.

It comes from the same manufacturers but is specifically designed for westerners not local Chinese market.

It has a wider, taller, stiffer frame and much stronger swingarm designed for full size humans.

6kw vs 5kw power,

40ah vs 32 ah battery.

It doesn't use a jackshaft and belt for gear reduction, instead it has a sealed gear set for a smoother ride and more reliable for off-road use. It has larger independent swingarm bearings instead of the 10mm thru axle trying to hold the sur ron rear end together. Basically it is just a step forward on a 5 year old product, both bikes are good fun.

Both bikes have a huge amount of aftermarket parts available.

If you don’t plan on spending money and just a basic entry level bike I would suggest the talaria R mx4. If money isn’t an option and you plan on getting bigger batteries and KO moto motor/controllers. I would get the Surron light Bee. A lot of options to upgrade. Check out ChargedCycleWorks.com. The owners a cool as shit and build custom everything. You will gain a ton of knowledge from them. Getting battery/motor pretty soon. 70571186758 87A56C8B-277F-4873-BF21-1B9A176A1DFD 1

Can anyone speak on the power modes on the bikes? IS there a mellow setting that is beginner friendly?

I'm considering one for my wife to cruise around on rather than a 110 or 125F as it will be less intimidating and she won't have to wrap her head around the clutch/gears. But, I don't want her whiskey throttling this thing into the next county lol.

Stick with the Surron, it's a better option than the Talaria.  I've ridden them both and the Surron has a much better controller tune, plus the belt drive is a lot quieter and hold up just fine under normal riding.  The Talaria has a lot of design changes that just don't make any sense, and doesn't do anything as well as the Surron in my experience.
