California seems like an awesome place to live.
Peel the sticker off. I never had a problem.... it's actually on there so they can legally sell it in the state.
Its always been like that, the VP cans and similar are marketed as "utility jugs" online because they don't have all the safety crap that gas cans need these days. All of which seems to contribute to spilling MORE gas.
Those cans have been illegally transporting fuel since CARB re designed the gas can in the 2000s.
CHP can pull you over and ticket you for transporting fuel in a non approved can. 10+ years ago there was a CHP officer that kept pulling riders over coming to Pala for illegal fuels cans because he could see the filler hose sticking up out of the truck.
The great part is the CARB approved can self venting nozzle spills fuel everywhere when you use them. It’s great for the environment.

That is my plan. I found it amusing/absurd but it sounds like some cops are actually enforcing the law . Guess I’ll need to stash my gas can while driving
Yup!
They have to put that decal on there. If I remember the law correctly, you have to use one of those CARB P.O.S. Gas Cans to buy gas at a fuel pump…but, I’ve NEVER had any problem using my “race jug” like Kenny pictured.
The rangers don't even use the CARB Crappers any more. They suck that bad.
Just tell the cop that it's not motor fuel, it's weed killer.......................
Well, Kenny, glad you asked! A few years ago I made this baby. Took a beer keg, removed the ball check valve and cleaned it out really well. Cut off a portion of the handle at the top so that it would pour easier. Brazed on a stainless steel bung with a cap and presto! Super strong gas can that totally seals. My gas stays fresh for months! This thing rules. It is unvented and can obviously handle the pressure. I could keep this thing in my car for a week and you would never even catch a whiff. It is awesome.
P.S. No, I did not make it because of any sort of CARB crap. I made it because I get to ride so sporadically I want my race gas to stay fresh longer.
Taking orders?
Cause that is bad ass.
That is awesome! Take that to shark tank 👍
Just follow the direction of stupidity I guess... Like those spring loaded auto closing cans. Everytime I use those I spill a 1000 times more gasoline into the environment than the vapors released that it's supposed to contain. Some engineer actually got paid for that idiocracy and a politician passed an ordinance making it mandatory. I should make a you tube video of the malfunction spilling gasoline into the environment each time I use it and send it to every environmentalist. I'm all for protecting nature but it should be easier: not harder.... and never to line the pockets of manufacturers and politicians.
Wasn’t there something about a gas can have to be red?
There is no view, beach, environment, weather, job or persons that could get me to put up with the ridiculous "laws" of California. There is a 1000 places EXACTLY like California. Thats the hilarious part that people put up with it like their isnt a place exactly like it without those "laws".
Also... "May cause cancer or reproductive harm" on a cookie wrapper.... Really Cali? Will it though?
Where in the continental United States are these 1000 places?
I have been here for 6 years and “California laws” haven’t stopped me from doing a single thing that I want to do. Including carrying my jug, like the one pictured, to the track. No I’m not a rebel, I just mind my business and do my thing. It’s not what people not here make it out to be. Sure there are some peculiar things but those types of things could be anywhere.
Been all over this country and don’t know of any other place like it. Pick your poison!
I’m saving up to make that big move to Saginaw Mi. 🙄

I use this because you can store VP for a lot longer than you can store it in a plastic jug. FWIW, I do have 4 plastic jugs, never caught any shit transporting. Donn Maeda caught a ticket for a VP type jug. He talked a little about it on a vlog and now uses the an Eagle can.

Still waiting to hear about a few of those places just like California. Especially the ones that don’t have any laws.
How about converting fire extinguishers? Sure will get looks when fuelling your bike. Maybe more if in an emergency, someone reached in the back of your truck and grabs it.
New Jersey law. Even with a red can, many gas stations won’t fill it, particularly on the turnpike.
I believe the VP sticker is referring to a federal law. It’s the same thing here in PA.
If you gonna have the fuel tube sticking up drawing attention just put a flag on it for any common social justice cause and they will leave you alone. It’s California…..
You should have put an airtight cap on it and used air to force the fuel into the bike. Kinda like a keg but use air instead. That way you won't have to pick the can up to fill your bike.
An example of how ridiculous things are.. Once I went to buy kerosene but I didn't have a blue jug. So I put my torpedo heater in the back of my truck and went to the station. They wouldn't allow me to put it in my Kerosene heater. Said I needed a blue jug.
Don’t get caught transporting gas in that can, it’s a nice fine.
I transport my gasoline in this thing
The place your thinking of is called Tijuana, it has its own set of problems.
Never been 'caught', but sadly waiting for it to happen.
All my CHP friends say its one of the dumbest rules and they refuse to enforce, but its pathetic that its a law to begin with.
I miss the 70s.
FWYT for the clear win here....I actually started using these sealed metal cans with the yellow funnel for my moto van (a previous post mentioned these as well). Turns out race fuel fumes were seeping from the garage into the passenger compartment, making it necessary to keep the window cracked all the time. These things allow zero fumes or smell in my garage as well, which is a bonus:

As far as Kalifornia goes...no comment. I grew up there, and I will always love that state, but I get sad when I go back.....
