Got to laugh at the Coop playing chess comments for whining on TV.  The team can complain to the AMA and they are going to do what they were going to do anyway…just don’t be a crybaby in the post race interviews.  Somebody get Coop a midol..

Personally I think it is dumb to have the red cross flag out for a rider on his bike, riding it. Even going backwards. Yellow flag...yeah.

Red cross flag is for downed riders.

Yea..Red Cross comes out for a downed rider that is not getting right up and could be injured.  Yellow if he is moving to clear the track or get back on his bike.  Dean was literally on the bike when they went by.  That Red Cross flag should have been long tucked away…..but it was waiving and some said they could see the red light on the jump.  I couldn’t see it on my non-4k 55” TV.

Well, it looks like that's a wrap on Sexton's hopes on the championship. 17 points down with only 7 rounds to go. Fuck, this rule is important, but they use the red cross flag way too liberally, and the punishment is way too high.

I bleed Honda HRC red but game over for Chase even though he passed Roczen, Webb, Tomac and Barcia as well as dropped all 5 of them. That’s a lot of points to make up at this point. Sexton literally won a race and lost points… you just can’t make that mistake.

Chase, remember what your new employer just did to you.

Would have been docked regardless of a protest

I diasgree with just a point deduction penalty. It should be points and a time penalty.

Time gained by jumping during a red flag over the following riders who were rolling can certainly be figured out.

He got a point penalty for disregarding the red flag but why allow him to keep the time he gained? Not fair on the other riders.

MotoGP has a long lap penalty and in F1 they have a time penalty option.

Wilson was on the bottom of the 3rd face going backwards. Sexton went roll, roll, double. Not sure why webb would not have hit the double after they cleared Wilson.

If you just started jumping after you pass what you think is the hazard, how would you know that was the rider they are flagging for? What if there's two down?  Or what if they were flagging for a guy laying on the downslope further down that section, not the one you passed?

Have to laugh at Webb throwing shade in the podium interview, he’s such a gamer.
He may not have doubled like Sexton, but wheels on the ground is the rule….

So should Webb be penalised too?

It’s a good rule , the penalty is fair , it was handled well in this case . I see no problem here at all .

Sucks for Chase of course but I’m not counting him out yet . There are a lot of guys out there that can finish between he and Webb and Tomac . The deep field is now in his favour .

I saw Webb catch that little bit of air and I cringed.   On the podium, I thought he was talking about himself  with the"waiting for the penalty" comment, I did not know it was Chase until I logged in here.

Coop appeared to try his damndest to slow/avoid what little air he got.    I'm sure that is why AMA did not penalize him.

...but I'm sure his haters are going to scream Roger pulled strings again.  lol.

Yeah I thought it was pretty cheeky to make that comment when he never rolled either.
But my beef is if the AMA is going to penalise one rider, then review the footage and apply the rule consistently.

100% right. fine them monetarily, or any other way besides points. we’re in a championship battle here. what a disaster to the points chase. this is robbing Chase and the fans alike. can’t believe this.

7 points is way more harsh than a time penalty though. Let's say the penalty is 5 seconds, which is more than he arguably gained, he still would've finished 1.3 ahead of 2nd. Or let's say the penalty is 10 seconds, he still would've taken 2nd.

Someone (maybe the ship captain) needs to lay out all of Chase’s late race decisions/falls that have cost him and see exactly how many points he’s left on the table. It’s unbelievable but it’s Chase so we’re all used to it now.

Fining him monetarily is nothing to them. This Red Cross situation may have been a bit sus but when it’s a real bad situation and they just send it because it’s just a couple thousand dollars there’s nothing to lose. Hit them where it hurts in points and they’ll think twice. Chase is hurting himself no one else.

You might just need 10 more inches, saw it plain as day on my 65". I'm a Chase fan but he 100% made a mistake.

This is politics, Roger and Webb are who the AMA wants to win, clearly should have been docked to.

Points aside I feel like Sexton became a man tonight, he did not play nice with anyone and he rode like he knows he's the guy, I think there's a few more wins coming his way.

If it is not harsh and hurts bad, they will not bother to worry about the penalty. Cooling your jets when there is a down rider on the track should be a priority. I am all for them making it hurt, just don't break the rule, everyone has to follow it.

Shoulda coulda woulda…..but it makes me wonder if the outcome had changed if chase had not gained the advantage over the others by jumping.

1. he wouldn’t have closed the gap on AP7. Does this allow AP7 to not feel the pressure of Sexton anymore and not fold and get the win keeping Sexton in 2nd.

2. Does Chase no longer build a gap from Webb. So then Webb does Webb things and gets Sexton right at the end…again.

ahh we will never know but it’s fun to think about.

Exclusion from the meeting?

The potential to land on an injured rider or first aid crew, is high in this sport.

It was dangerous and it was obvious cheating. He got off lightly.
