I finally got to listen to last week's Pulp MX and man I feel bad for Darkside, don't get me wrong, I love Pulp MX and Matthes, But I think that should have been between Steve and Jamie. Jamie said OK to talk about it, but it seemed to personal, He is going through life changing moves etc. Just felt bad for Darkside. Great show as always! (Long time reader and my first post!)
I think Matthes crossed the line there and it was very uncomfortable listening. I really felt bad for Darkside. Steve absolutely laid him out for not having $800 on his credit card. I work in financial services and can say with absolute confidence that A LOT if not MOST people are living paycheck to paycheck unable to afford an emergency expense greater than $500. Matthes was way off base. It’s fine not to know these things. I was surprised when I first started working and learned how many people truly were living paycheck to paycheck. But, Matthes shouldn’t have done that to Darkside on the show live.
Now, Darkside needs to know better than to travel to a foreign country that thin on money but Matthes should be talking to him about that off air as a friend. Don’t air his dirty laundry about his poor financial state in life just for a few laughs. You know it’s embarrassing.
I don’t listen to any of Darkside’s stuff but I really felt bad for the guy listening to that.

But the joke has run its course. Time for some new material
Each time I hear him on Pulp now that he’s “Vital Jamie,” Steve seems to jokingly bring up how it was his doing, getting him to the point where he is in the industry. Sure, he gave him the opportunity. But it’s obvious the guy’s been putting the work in, making the most of the opportunity he’s been given, or he wouldn’t be in the position he’s in now. It’s odd to continue taking so much credit for his success while simultaneously making him the laughingstock of the show when his segment airs.
Edit: Just listened, yeah that was uncomfortable… not really trying to pry into anyone’s finances like that.
But the dark side intro needs to stay , it’s just too good
Just got too high schooler ish for me
I only watch Pulp due to their quality guests but most of the time the guests don't get asked interesting questions.
I really enjoy RC/MC and Keefers company on there, they make it worthwhile.
I’m not a financial advisor or anything and have been broke a few times in my life (especially persusing motocross at a high level) but at his age it is a little worrying..
That’s a conversation you can have as friends, but publicly is a little embarrassing..
hopefully it motivates him a little.
I’m a huge pulpnation fan, but that whole thing was a little uncomfortable.
Pit Row
I agree it was a little cringe but that also made it entertaining. If Steve put him on blast like that out of the blue it would be extremely uncalled for but he asked Darkside himself if they could talk it out and Darkside said yes. He was a good sport about it which gave us some entertainment.
Post a reply to: Matthes kinda tough on Darkside?
