Can't wait to watch Jeremy "Showtime" McGrath rip around Glen Helen. He has always been one of my favorites in this sport. Who is racing? Should be a cool format this year with 3 motos over 2 days.

Motocross Action Magazine article about him racing it...

In his latest Life on Two Wheels vlog, Swap said MC is racing an aluminum frame K250 2-stroke.

Was planning on racing but now I'm on the fence due to time commitment of travel with toy hauler (live in the midwest 1900 mile drive) Spring Creek is my home track and I've never ridden Glen Helen! I would welcome some opinions on the overall experience of the event good and bad..

All I can say is i doubt you will be laying on your death bed one day far down the road thinking man I really shouldn’t have gone and raced at glen helen and watched McGrath race.

McGrath is getting the Edison Dye life time achievement award. And racing 40+ pro and Get Ready for this . The 125 Pasha 50+ pro class. I hope he breaks out his cr125 Peak pc bike. That would be killer. I saw Jeremy race in 91 at Millville. He,s actually a Great 125 rider. That was the race where he flew to Rochester Ny. Instead of Mn. Haha too b a kid again. I,m sure he was jet lagged. Too bad I,m on the rd on the opposite coast.

MC is a Kawi brand ambassador, the chances of him breaking out a Peak CR125 are exactly zero.

That’s just silly it’s a 50+ 125 race. It would make Kawi look good that there not Honda corporate dicks. Mitch will probably loan him that 04 kx125 that Ricky recently rode that’s not as fast as his 97 pc 125.

McGrath was ripping on KX250 & KX500 Two-strokes at last year's MX Revival Glen Helen

Pro classes aside, for us average joes, how does this 3 moto format work? I missed out on this event last year due to a surgery and I'm mad confused on how it works this year. Thanks

Hub the way I read it is that they will run motos all day and if your race is early enough in the order you may get all 3 motos in on Saturday.

Of course he was a great 125 rider. Shocking

I shipped a bike and flew out last year, I'm also from NW Wisconsin.

The event itself was run pretty poorly (I called into Pulp last year with some stories). But riding Glen Helen was a bucket list deal.

I would definitely go back. The first time I made the turn and came back down Mount St Helens was epic.

They are going to run as far into the 2nd set of motos as possible on Saturday. Nobody will race 3 motos on Saturday. Most likely, get close to race 10 or so of the 2nd motos and finish out the rest of them on Sunday and the do the 3rd moto. I think this format is much better. It was weird having a "Saturday Winner" and then a "Sunday World Vet Champion"

Pros:
-Race at Glen Helen. There is no other track in America like it.
-World Vets are a fun atmosphere. It's a big event, but not like the World Mini or Loretta's.
-Meet lots of pros, if that's your thing.
-Depending on your class, you might win and be crowned World Vet Champion. (I know, I know, it's not TRULY a world championship, but there will be dudes from all over the world racing there.)

Cons:
-The drive.
-Glen Helen gets rough in a way you cannot understand until you've ridden there. It's weird.
-The State of California might one day decide to tax you 150% of your income because you were once inside its borders. Just kidding; it might actually only be 120%.

If you are seriously considering it, I'd make the trip. It will be a great experience.

I heartily recommend making the trip. For dozens of guys north of the border in Alberta, driving down the I-15 in a burst of late October craziness has been a ritual since the early 90's. The routine goes something like this: Get off work on Thursday; dash home to load the truck; pick-up this year's riding buddies; head south to the border; half an hour later; turn around and head back cuz one of us forgot his passport; by now it's well into dark but the die is cast and we need to make it to GH by the next evening; get to the border and try to convince the guard that we're not "professional racers"; hit the I-15 and start the long run through MT, ID, UT, NV and finally, CA; grab some shut-eye along the way, and keep an eye out for the 24-hr McD's; maybe stop at a gentleman's bar in Vegas if we're ahead of schedule; and feel the butterflies when we finally start down the Cajon Pass cuz we know when we get to the bottom GH will be waiting. Then it's up early on Saturday to grind though the motos with 4 or 5 hundred other guys who are just like you and before you know it it's getting dark on Sunday afternoon; the rig is packed and its back up the highway to make it home for work on Tuesday. Thank goodness there's In-N-Outs as far up as Utah now...

The World Vets is a destination, and no matter how well you do or don't do, it will always be a motocross happening that should leave you with no regrets. We've been there since the early 90's, and have met a ton of current and past stars. In particular, we were truly honored to have regular chats with Tom White, a man to whom all motocrossers owe a huge debt of gratitude.

And for the record, this will NOT be MC's first crack at World Vet glory: he was there in '96 and rode the +25 class, if I recall correctly. He was still on a Honda, but in retrospect I think he was using the event as a bit of a test to decide what to do next. And that became a pretty seminal event, too...

Thanks, makes a bit more sense. $100 to race is kind of steep but I'm gonna try to make it out there.

Nice. I will be racing 50+ pro on saturday on my 2005 RM250 unless I happen to pick up a 450 before then.

And then racing Pasha 50+ pro on sunday. I know this is shocking but this will not be the first time I will get beaten by MC haha

As people mentioned....

Pros: Glen Helen, awesome track, great competition (even is there are some sand baggers in the Nov/Int classes), get to see friends.

Cons: all day event both days, the stagging/gate selection process is less than ideal.

Overall I love the event. I do have the luxury of living 30 minutes from the track. Would I go if I lived 1000 miles away. Unlikely. But that is the same reason I don't do Loretta's as well

You've heard of TM right? KTM split into K as the new green brand and TM the new blueWhistling

RC works for Triumph but just did a video with Mitch and Bones for Monster riding a KX125, so MC on a Honda could happen. But I doubt it based off availability more than anything.

Regarding the chaos at staging last year, they have made some pretty decent changes and seem to be getting more organized. I was at the 2-stroke event this year and they had a much better system compared to World Vets 2021.

Have to get you up to Red Bud for Vet Fest next year. I know a guy that has a bike you can borrow, but it might be sprung a bit stiff for your scrawny ass.

He has a peak bike in his house. Along with a 90 kx125. He bought a clean 90 kx125 in Crandon Wi. At the 50th anniversary race. A 89 cr125 his 1st pro bike or 125 a class bike would be cool. He raced that big evo vintage in Italy recently. Not sure if he was on a Honda but most where. I think it’s cool that he,s racing the 125 class. I wonder if Emig is racing the 125 class. Love to see that McGrath vs Emig . Perfect racing ending for the yr.
