So there is no doubt it was intentional.
That's racing boys and girls. I see no problem with it. Like to see Jo return the favor in the future.

By apologising I mean "man I got a bit out of control, didn't mean to hit you that hard. I know you must be pissed right now but I hope we can keep racing clean after this. Just got a bit squirrely you know?" We all have done it, just own it.
Shimoda had made a girly full track deviation/punt/block move on Jett a few laps earlier.
Hunter would have seen that dirt.
Aaaand I raced in the very late 60's and am still lining up.
Pit Row
Not a real smart percentage move as both might have gone down or a radiator or two might have been beaten up. If both guys stayed up it would be a ballsy aggressive move by Hunter. If Hunter went down it would have been Jo's Thug Life moment.
Hunter has a PR issue after this. Jo has said all the right things and has really come out of it well particularly after gapping everyone in race two. Hunter has said the right stuff too, but needs to humbly ask for his friend's forgiveness.
It served notice to other riders.
Not a fan of Jo or and of the brothers but I am a fan of good clean (ish), hard racing.
Strategically, I think it was a dumb move since there was no possible reward of significance. He could have crashed himself, injured himself, or damaged his own bike. Of course it could have resulted in Joe being hurt in addition to putting him on the ground. Shimoda had never done that to Hunter, so I'm labeling it a dumb move that was also a dick move. He confirmed that he made the move intentionally and that he knew there would be contact. He made no mention of it being dumb or wrong. This, combined with his incorrect assumption that Styles Roberts crossed jumped him at Southwick, the hissy fit he threw over it, the hypocrisy, and couple of other things has me thinking Hunter Lawrence is a little douchebag. He's nothing like Jett. Jett is a good soul and full of talent. Hunter will never achieve what Jett has already achieved. Maybe you disagree with me, but from what I've seen, this is what I think. Hopefully I see things that change my mind.
Racing incident.
End of story.
