This is the reason walker gave for pressuring the kid out of the claim. Can anyone explain to me what negative impact it would have had on him. He’s probably figured out he’s never gonna be a pro and wanted the bike. Is their any other examples of people claiming bikes and being ostracised by one and all.

What are all these non-family member adults doing in a minor's business. The adults in this situation have no business dealing with this kid's decision. If they had a problem with the kid, they should have been speaking to his parents or guardian. It is inappropriate at best, illegal at worst.

Luce should have spoken up and said "nobody is threatening the dealership, nobody is going to be assaulted and Matt Walker does not represent YMC.

Funny way of doing that, ambushing him in a heated meeting with a Yamaha official and his sponsor.

Matt was clearly pressured into doing it and rather than doing the right thing (staying out of it) he chose to be one of the boys and use intimidation tactics.

I can't think of an equivalent today, someone that stayed in the 125/250 class as a lifer with limited success, 9 podiums in 9 years. Maybe Mitchell Oldenburg would be a close comparison.

Fun fact, Matt Walker won the very first supercross I ever attended.
Thanks.

I knew he rode for Pro Circuit, but i honestly cant say i remember much else.

Oldenburg is a good comparison.

Matt is a bad liar, he came across so ingenuine in that interview. Certain things I am sure he was telling the truth although sugarcoated, but a lot of what he said........no.

Definitely cringe. I was thinking so the whole time, he stumbled and stumbled and what he did get out was basically “trust me bro”.

Shame.

One of the most unfortunate and ironic things in ALL of this....apparently the kid was encouraged to not proceed with the claim or else he'd lose his sponsor, probably lose Walker as a coach, and be black-listed, right?

Guess what?

All of those things still happened, even though he rescinded the claim.

The adults in this debacle should all be ashamed of themselves. But they won't be, because they won.

A guy that keeps running his mouth off about how innocent he is and how none of the behind the scenes strong-arming didn't happen is guilty as phuck.....

On Monday’s Pulp show Walker sounded like he was trying to justify everything he did and all it made me do was feel like he was lying through his teeth and that he’s full of shit. Funny how on Mitch Payton’s Whiskey Throttle Show episode a few years back, GL and Mitch were telling stories about Walker and how he swore up and down he wasn’t lying about a destroyed motor from sinking his bike pond skimming and then swore that his fastest lap time was legit even though he went through an open fence and cut a huge portion of the track, even though Bones saw him cut the track. Seems like there’s a pattern here… 🧐

Those stories are hilarious, he was young then and it’s sort of to be expected. He’s a grown man now and I would have hoped that he’s not that same guy anymore.

Everyone keeps talking about Walker the trainer but lets not forget about the fact that he also hosts a LL qualifier. I can understand everyone elses story on the situation, But everything he says just makes him look worse on the deal.

This ^^^^ I have been saying the same from the beginning and 800 posts later the same holds true. Nobody needed a be a part of this especially Tim Cotter and Deegan.....and a close second being Walker and Yamaha. It sounds like they will keep it anonymous going forward, but they should make this right for Brennan even though he has inconsistencies in his stories. He wouldn't have to tell a story if he went home with the bike.

By make it right I mean Star should build him a badass bike without the "markings in the motor" to give away suppliers.

I don't have an issue with Cotter being involved as he IS the on-site administrator for MX Sports who would function as an arm of the AMA. I also don't think Cotter did anything wrong, nor did the AMA that they haven't come out and admitted to and indicated they plan to work to improve for the future.

Were mistakes made? Yes. Did Cotter or the AMA make them purposefully? No. The real issue here is what happened in Matt Walker's camp that night. Unfortunately, the truth will most likely never come out.

1. How is the PROMOTER the "arm" of the governing body? Thats like saying the TV Promoter of the Cowboys NFL Team is the "arm" of the referees? They are completely separate and he should not have been involved.

2. "Old Slow Guy" posted they have already had meetings and many changes will be in effect and he alluded to the anonymity being one of them.

The real issue is that anyone else was involved in this other than the AMA and Brennan with his family. Now, his sponsor may have still dropped him and Walker may have booted him from Moto X after he claimed the bike. They have the right to do that if they feel individuals they are supporting do not represent them well.

I did not say Cotter did anything on purpose, but he should have handed this to the AMA and went back to running the race.
This is just not the way it works. I am one person at Lorettas‘s. All of those guys Tim included that worked the race are considered the race officials for lorettas just like every race in America. I am the only person in the AMA motocross department. The rule says take it to the referee and the referee, Jeff Canfield, was brought in immediately and all of the race officials handled it about the way it should’ve been handled. I think some thing people are confused about is that the race officials at every amateur motocross race in America work for the promoter, not the AMA. Our role at this race is more of an oversight function. Of course we step in and help when needed but the claim should have been and was handled by the race officials

Makes sense. I still don’t understand why Brian Deegan was invited into any meeting with Schofield regarding the matter, though. Seems unprofessional and inappropriate.

Matt kept saying that he didn't want Brennan to make the claim because he didn't want him to be "know" as the guy that claimed Deegan's bike and that would hurt his career.

What Matt really meant is that he didn't want Brennan to claim the bike because he didn't want to be "know" as the trainer of the guy that claimed Deegans bike and hurt his business because he's afraid of getting black balled.

Of all the interviews I've seem and heard from the entire situation I found his to be the biggest bunch of BS.

Deegan was smart enough to stop talking. Walker isn’t.

He sold out his own rider. Fuck Walker. At least the kid would have the bike. Now he's a pariah, with no claimed bike or a sponsor

Don't know him but have only read bad things. Never good. One year, at ATL SX, he was doing a interview on the floor and started talking. I was extremely baffled and actually felt sorry for the dude. Have no clue how he still is in this sport.

Talk him out of it? Everyone is treating the kid like he has the bike anyway. If he had the bike nothing in the story or his career would change

Funny in the first minute of the interview he lies by saying no one called anyone back and right after says the dealer called him back to meet him…:didn’t threaten Harris but a minute latter, yeah I raised my voice to get him out of my pit. Some people say I sound aggressive, yeah I can just imagine the non threatening words that were said….most likely Yamaha didn’t threaten the dealer but I can see how the dealer made it come across that way to the kid. How many times did Walker mention the dealer saying his name was on the side of the bike and he didn’t like that? IMO Steve did a disservice to the kid they way he took everyone’s word as gospel except the kids, wonder if his tune would be different if the “you tube guys” didn’t get the story out first and he felt he had to present a conflicting narrative?

matt was between a rock and hard place. matt holds a LL regional race at a track he promotes in GA and has aspirations for a national in the future. that was for sure to be gone had he not stepped in on this.

It was sarcasm. Kid might have the bike at least if not for Walker. Now he's blackballed anyway
