The interview with Bobby Regan confirms it's a 50K bike. He also said any "normal" guys bike in pro sport or B class has 30-40K in their bikes. This is the problem ladies and gentleman. I disagree the other bikes are 30-40. A close friend of mine races at that level and is nowhere near that figure. I don't think Regan had anything to do with all this garbage, but there you go from the owner of the Team and their thought process.

No outside pressure from Yamaha to Sponsor but he flies off the handle and pulls support from Brennan. It was all hugs and kisses at Walkers camp and decided Ahh nevermind lets just go home Dad.

Sponsor Chris has some major problems that need addressed and if you believe its all good from his statement then I dont know what to say.

Donnie Luce, Matt Walker and Sponsor Chris are Scum.

So the sponsor responds with one vague sentence. Nice. The dude that ultimately made Brennan retract the claim and then disassociate himself afterwards with him has the least to say.

Makes sense. 👎

Seems to me like there’s merit from the Brennan sides story. Problem for the other side of the coin is, when Luce uses walker as a scape goat, and walker uses the sponsor as a scape goat, there’s no scape goat for the sponsor to use.

Procircuit was selling a Ryder D bike for about $40k right? I assume Chance Hymas was on a similar bike.

I agree.....and that is the problem and why they don't like the claiming rule. More bikes getting claimed for 17K will slow all of it down which is why the rule exists.

Both Factory riders. Regan tried to say every average rider in B class has that much in their bike. Bullshit!

No rider at an amateur level should have more than the cost of their bike into modifications. Only factory pros and old, slow, fat fucks like me

It was shitty of Bobby Regan to go out of his way to interject that he believes Brennan claimed the bike for the sole purpose of flipping it for near to full value. I understand that Regan works hard to pull his team's funding together, but it was gratuitous for him to do that. I don't think I saw a single other person speculate that was Brennan's motive in any of the coverage/discussion of this episode that I have seen.

I don't think Brennan would have gotten a ride day on a Star bike in return for dropping the claim.

Yeah Hymas bike would be the one I would go for if I was a back rider in the A class . His bike at Loretta’s had some pretty cool hrc parts on it had HRC triple clamps and he had kit suspension also.
Pissing off HRC Honda probably be worst then pissing off Yamaha

Seeing how spineless dealer wouldn't talk is even more reason we need to hear from Brennan's dad. Hopefully since the bikes were returned with no new ones given, he will decide to spill the beans on what the dealer actually said.

Bobby Regan isn't going to tell anyone what was in the bike, and now that it's still in his possession he can say whatever he wants.

At the end of the day the people who had the most life experience (adults) still sounded less believable than a 17-year-old kid.

Bobby Regan is an idiot then. The rule is the rule. If the kids want to claim the bike and flip it for more money then that’s his business. He can do what he wants with it.

He was helping Brennan with bikes he didn’t have to and you have to remember he’s a Yamaha dealer that’s his livelihood and his employee’s livelihood is selling Yamaha product so when a rider that you help that is riding free Yamaha bikes you gave him goes out at the largest amateur national event and try’s to claim a factory am support race bike from the same manufacture you make your livelihood with it puts a lot negative non wanted attention on your dealership with that oem and that’s why I’m sure he took the bikes back l. Dealer was probably blindsided and Brennan maybe should of talked to him first snd let him know what he was planning on doing

Brennan has an interview up with Hopper and he says they dropped the claim because the dealer asked them to. Then his bikes got yanked a week later. He also said if he knew he was losing the sponsor anyway he would have not rescinded the claim. He also talks about why he claimed a Yamaha and not another brand. Because he liked Yamaha best.

I think he should of maybe let his Yamaha dealership sponsor know ahead of time he was planning on claiming that bike . The dealer probably was really blindsided and in damage control after it was all started

That is probably true however the dealer more or less lied to him to get him to drop the claim. He could have terminated the sponsorship right there but obviously the dealer had some incentive to say anything to get the claim dropped.

I think you should when it’s the same oem brand that you’re sponsored with . He’s given 6 free Yamaha bikes a year to ride from his dealer I’m sure that dealer would like a heads up so he’s not blindsided. If it’s not the same oem then no he shouldn’t have to

Not dealer. Sponsor. Like ML said sponsorship deals have the expectation, in writing in ML’s case, that you don’t damage the sponsors image. I realize it is likely Brennan was so hell-bent on the claim he didn’t think of or perhaps want to get any pushback from telling the sponsor.
I can imagine what a thrill it would be to get a Star bike and I envy the nerve he has to do the claim. But there are foreseeable consequences, both deserved (everyone pissed) and undeserved ((outed to Deegan by AMA when it should be need to know, and ultimately sponsor finding out and pulling sponsorship).

The amazing part of all of this, aside from how poorly this was handled every step of the way, is the way the way Yamaha and Star are handling damage control.

How hard would this be:

"I want to start off by saying how sorry I am to Brennan Schofield, his Father, Loretta Lynn, and the entire Motocross community for the incident this past weekend. I'm embarrassed on behalf of myself and the others involved. In an effort to show off our amazing Star Yamaha at the best amateur race in the world, we had Haiden Deegan race a bike that we never should have let leave the garage. This mistake was mine and I take full responsibility for it. The claiming rule is a rule that I very much believe in, as it is fundamental in the effort to promote fairness and equal opportunity at the amateur level of our sport. That being said, many of us were completely caught off guard by it this weekend, and we dropped the ball every step of the way. In a misguided effort, born of loyalty to Star and Yamaha, many of the parties involved overstepped their boundaries. I'm ashamed of the way we reacted without thinking. I want to make this clear: many of us made mistakes this weekend, but Brennan Schofield was not one of them. That young man followed the rules. He made his claim and he paid his money. That is the bottom line. Where he got his money, and his planned intentions with the bike are of nobodies concern. I was angry with myself for sending Haiden to the line with a bike that I would never want claimed, and I was desperate to not have to pay for my mistake. It's been a few days now and thankfully I am thinking a little more clearly. I know that at this point it will be very hard to make this right, but I would like to offer Brennan a 1 year amateur deal with our race team."
