Do you think Haiden Ghost rides his bike his fist win in sx as a tribute to his dads win?

No matter what side of the fence you’re on this claim stuff . You must know how proud his dad is of Haiden. His dad dream was to get a factory ride and he never got one so it must of been one hell of a proud moment for him when his son signed that factory Yamaha deal. And no one can deny that the kid doesn’t work hard and he wasn’t just given the ride because of YouTube. Haiden earned this ride and deserved it. Look at Ryder D and Chase Hymas then been on big bike for over 2 years and Ryder D just went pro and hymas is holding back for a 3rd year . Haiden has only been on big bike since a week after Loretta’ last year and he didn’t go 125 school boy like ferry and CC 66. He is going pro next weekend at iron man and team wouldn’t let him knew that if he wasn’t showing the speed as the other pros on the team . So I think it’s amazing and no one should be hating or saying kid is sand bagging. Hes 16 only been on a big bike skip 125 went straight to 250 and he’s going be pro national rider only being on a big bike just barley over one year

Why not, and he could run a big bore like his dad too.

Claiming should be done more often to keep a level playing field. You could buy Ryder D’s test bike for $42k or claim it for $17k. Factory amateurs crush local kids sponsored by mom and pop who work 4 jobs to go racing.

Ya, I don't care what that dude says. At this point I think it's pretty clear Walker spooked him by saying "if this goes through, yamaha could take away your status as a YZ dealer"

The biggest question, why was Walker ever involved?

Cause the dealer hit up walker, the dealer’s son is also trained by Walker (as was Brennan) so he went to him about it. I have yet to have anyone state that there was ever a threat to the dealer or anyone about Yamaha pulling support. Brennan even admitted in his interview with me that it was never stated…he just assumed.

This is what Mathes is hung on and it IS important that the dealer was never actually threatened. Brennan just assumed that was the case based on what? He didn't pull that out of thin air. Chris from Rallye has been tight-lipped other than to clarify that Yamaha didn't threaten him. The only thing that makes sense is that he did say or imply that to Brennan's dad when he pulled him aside. It is THAT conversation, coupled with Walker and Luce being there, that ultimately killed the deal. It's a shit look on the dealer's part to pull support from Brennan after he pulled the claim at the request of the dealer/sponsor.

But really, I'm just here to help this sucker get to 20 pages.
But what if the dealer implied that he would lose his dealership if the claim wasn’t taken back? The kid wouldn’t know that no one said that and maybe he truly is a good kid and felt bad enough to take it back. All we know is that the dealer I was pissed his name was on the side of the kids bike and that they were at Walkers pit and then the dealer took the kids dad aside and next thing you know they are taking back the claim. This dealer (just like all used car salesman) is shady, and the kid should’ve never taken the claim back

I'm fairly against a user that creates a new account just to live in one thread and project their opinion so heavily that they take up half the posts in it. I locked it for a few days and if they want to participate in the forum as a whole afterwards, cool. If this is the only reason they're interest in being here, then good riddance.
Good points. Way too many posts. But I enjoyed him stirring it up...... and well spoken too. But yea, too many posts. Had some kinda connection to moto. One post he said he "had ridden more then one factory bike". Definitely a Deegan advocate. I was wondering if you found out he was "connected" or something...

As another poster posted, did anyone ask the dealer "Who informed you about Brennan claiming the bike?"

Would love a straight and true answer to that question. My money line would be on Walker.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already but Bobby Regan sounds totally ridiculous. If you don't want people knowing your parts supplier then don't put the parts on a bike that can be claimed.

If you listen to the interview with AMA's Mike Burkeen, that isn't technically against the rule.

It's a bummer and not morally great...but technically not breaking the rules.

That's rich coming from the AMA, the AMA didn't enforce the rules...

Enforce the rules that everybody agreed to when they enter the race, don't change or negotiate them on the spot.

If there's an issue with the rules, change them for later events.

So how does this all end? Just is what it is, and fizzles away?

I see they are trying to implement some rules changes for 2023, Brennen lost his bikes and maybe the dealer sponsorship but gets some engine support. Anything else?

I agree with all of this. My opinion is the dealer told Brennan's Dad that it was not good reflection on his business (advertised on the side of Brennan''s bike) for this to go through, especially with the bike being a Yamaha and his kid races too. Dad probably explained that the Brennan and then a 17 year old kid took that as "the dealer was threatened by Yamaha".....and then said that on You Tube before rolling it all back in other interviews.

Assuming that did happen in some fashion, why is the Dealer shady for saying "I sponsor you guys and give you numerous bikes per year and have even when you were a C rider.....and I don't like being a part of this as your actions at Loretta's are a reflection of my business". Whether or not you agree it is a bad look is irrelevant and you may not understand it, but it definitely could be.....not to mention I doubt sponsoring Brennan has created an ROI for his dealership, so he likely did it because he liked the kid and the family and then this happens. Not shady.

One thing I don’t understand is who provided Brennan his bikes. Were the bikes given by the dealer or Yamaha itself? If Yamaha then do the bikes go directly from Yamaha to the rider or through the dealer? I’d assume if direct from Yamaha then what’s the dealer have to do with it? I could see both sponsoring the rider as well but the dealer giving parts or other supplies. Not just a Brennan question but a question as to how things work.

Nothing happens and its comical everyone thought something would like there was a smoking gun somewhere and Perry Mason was investigating this. Multiple parties involved recognize they/it could have been handled better and the AMA is changing the rule to an extent. Also, Brennan has moved on to KTM and the dealer along with Yamaha move on as well. Matt Walker lost a client and many came out looking pretty bad in this deal. Already forgotten.

Bikes may have been on floorplan- ie finance.

As soon as they were taken off the floor to be used, the financier would require payment.

That probably means the dealer owned them and was lending them to Brennan for probable second hand sale when he was done.

That's what we did with the Yamaha dealership in the 80's.

We (fans) are still talking about it. Nobody that matters is talking about or thinking about anymore. Maybe the AMA as they are revising the rule. Otherwise it's over and nobody will be accountable for anything as normal.

They could have been demos from Yamaha too or special incentive bikes (lower cost). Many manufacturers have programs like that for dealers....especially big ones.

Likely the dealership owns the bike Brennan is riding. They pay it off from Yamaha flooring and just let the rider have it for the year to give it back when the season is over. Not sure how Canada Yamaha works but BluCru is different now. The dealer gets so many BluCru rider offers by how many YZ's they sold last year. Then they get to pick who gets it but also that rider has to fill out the forms to claim the retail incentive they get depending on which model YZ it is. Rarely is a bike actually from Yamaha go directly to a rider. Most often it is a dealer stepping up to help them out.
