If what Brennan said is accurate (which should easy to verify), heads need to roll on the Yamaha side. Its disgusting, frankly. Fuck Yamaha. As for the Deegan's, I'll never support any manufacturer he rides for.
never have two sales people talking to one customer.
Subconsciously the customer will feel ganged up on, two against one.
That is first day stuff.
Two adults questioning a 17-year-old is not defensible
1. Why was Matt Walker mad at this kid or even involved? He trained him for 3 years and it sounds like he didn’t even try to have this kids back. Does Walker have a connection to Yamaha or Deegans?
2. Has anyone confirmed the dealership was actually contacted by Yamaha? Or was this some Yamaha guy stomping around saying “we could rescind the dealerships license”? In other words, did this yamaha rep really have Corporate backing or was he just an over-zealous rep making threats in the heat of it?
3. How much time was between regionals and LL? Bike would have cost $11K at regionals, but he said he didn’t have the $$ then. How’d he earn $6K in a few weeks?!? I guess I’m not convinced someone didn’t “help” him get that last bit!
Oh and... mad respect for trying to keep the factory guys in check at the amateur level...!
I was curious about that as well.
1) The rule seems like a good rule in order to keep a somewhat level playing field.
2) Brennan did not end up with the bike even though he had the money and followed the rules.
3) The Yamaha rider did not give up the bike following the rules.
4) Mx Sports should had nothing to do with this situation as it was an AMA issue.
Because of the above facts the AMA should level penalties against Mx Sports, Star Yamaha, and then the rider "Deegan" per the rules. The rule is they must give up the bike and they did not honor the rule. They put up a fight not wanting to give up the bike and that means they broke the rules. The AMA should make a statement and soon! Failure to do so will result in bigger problems next year I would bet.
Pit Row
Matt looks like crap on this.
The ethics of it all it what really bothers me, I guess some peoples moral standards are just lower than others and see no issue with what happened.
I know if my kid was racing LL’s in 2023 I’d be bringing a fat stack of cash to get a factory bike.
And at this point they arent making themselves look like they weren’t. Semantics
Ever seen the show The Righteous Gemstones on HBO? That’s the Coombs family and MX Sports.
MX Sports, DMG, RacerX, AMA Pro Racing…. They are all so intertwined. Hard to know where one ends and another begins.
Literally the biggest incident at Loretta Lynn’s in a decade and DC has little involvement? I mean was he out pounding in stakes during this?
What the hell is going on? Where the hell was the PRESIDENT of MX Sports to ensure all rules, procedures, and processes were being followed???
Complete lack of leadership and fairness to all participants at LL.
These are the same people who pay the bills at RacerX. You think you are going to get DC to get to the bottom of this? No. This happened at HIS event.
This is crazy how it all turned out. Embarrassment is an understatement.
