Geezuz...I feel for the kid and his family but damn, motocross as we know is dangerous. To go after the organization, track, staff etc ain't gonna bring him back. One day we ain't going to have any tracks left.

I’m not a huge NASCAR fan, and have only mildly been paying attention to this lawsuit. But the one thing I saw mentioned that drew a parallel to SX, was the complaint about teams finding big money sponsors, and then NASCAR trying to convince those sponsors to sponsor the series instead, thus stealing them from the teams. Reed and Carey Hart have both described that same situation happening with Feld.

Frankly, certain track promoters do a lot of very stupid shit. I’ve called out some of our local promoters here in the NW over the years for things such as gigantic tractor tires used for corner markers. They might as well have concrete highway barriers. Running quads with mini bikes. Letting little kids practice with big bikes and no flaggers? Small bikes should NEVER be allowed on a track with big bikes. I don’t care if Jet Lawrence is on the mini. Blind jumps, over watering during motos . The list goes on and on. Correcting any of these issues...

Crazy that MX Sports says they have no influence over the races that are used to qualify for LL…isn’t there basically an arm wrestling competition to hold a qualifier or regional as the promoters know they are a cash cow and can make or break their earnings for the year? If they have no influence who the heck would???

This is a heartbreaking story, and Ping is right that we need to get out of the "too bad for them ... next race" mentality. A lot of the issues the article focuses on (obstacles near track, mixed-age practices, insufficient/untrained/unqualified flaggers, lack of qualified medical personnel) are no-brainers and should be fixed immediately. We all love this sport, but we are going to lose it as we know it if we don't respectfully begin having conversations with race promoters, track owners, sanctioning bodies, etc. about cleaning up some of this stuff. Fair article. Most of their points have been made on here many times. Not much new info in there but the number of deaths is higher than I'm guessing most of us realize. Don't complain about legislation and regulation if the sport itself can't even get on the same page with mixed practices, flaggers, medics, etc..... those football deaths would catch up in a hurry if they told kids to go practice against pros.
