Please know that in our last messages, I kept reminding him how much he was loved by everyone.

Here is a song he asked me to listen to while he was having a Baileys Irish Cream.

Scottie was there for me when I had a bad head on crash in 2014 and it's funny now thinking back how I was scared of surgery and talking about the nerve pain I had and leaning on him for support... In comparison to what #28 has been through, I had no reason to be scared and he had every right to feel sorry for himself and never did (RESPECT). Scottie I appreciate all of our conversations and I'll think of you everytime I throw back a redbull or see Roczen on the track.

Until I see you lining up on the gate in heaven brother take care and I'm happy you're free of the pain finally!

Gloria if theres anything else I/we can do to help, please let us know. RIP buddy

It's really cool to come on this forum and see just how many lives OC did touch. These are pictures of some graffix we did on my boys 65 years ago, sporting the old MCM logo. Of course Roczen was digging it.

Only knew him from this site, but I appreciated his insight and all he did for us on this forum over the years. Really sad news. Rest easy Boi.

I as well as other people have been keeping in contact with Scottie and he messaged me at 8:30 this evening and asked me to post this for all of his friends.

Its about that time, I love you Brian, please post this on Vital after midnight tonight or even tomorrow:

Farewell my friends. I am sorry it has come to this, but I can no longer carry on in this amount of pain. This has not been a spur of the moment decision, I am of sound mind and thinking clearly. Over time my physical well being has declined at a rapid pace and each day gets worse and worse. I can no longer function like this, I have seen many doctors and pain clinics and there is no solution that brings my pain down to a level that is acceptable. I have been dealing with this for over 10 years, and in recent times, the last 2-3 years, the pain has become unbearable. I never thought it would come to this, but it is the cards I have been dealt. I look forward to moving on and ending this suffering.

I have known a lot of you for many many years and your love and support over these years have been amazing, I am truly grateful to each and every one of you. I know some will not support my decision, all I ask is please accept that I am doing what is right for me. I have the loving support from my family and they have been at my side throughout this entire journey. I know it is going to be painfully hard for them to endure losing their youngest son, but watching me day to day in pain also affects them. They only want what is right for me, and all I ask is the same from you.

All I ask is you please respect my decision and support me, when you think of me, think of good thoughts and how I have touched your lives. I love you all and truly wish my life would have turned out differently. I have accomplished a lot in my 52 years and there are many things I am truly proud of; I hope I have touched lives and made a positive impact on them.

In closing, I will miss all of you dearly and hope to see you on the other side.

*side note: Ironically this is also the same day both Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley passed. along with my favorite cat Ty three years ago.
Wow.. this is heartbreaking to read. Scottie was a great guy.. always friendly.

Scott coached me on how to build a desktop computer early 2000's. One of the most generous people ever.

This is painful to comprehend

Frikk. He didn’t deserve his challenges but he sure met them head on. He is at peace now and not in pain.
What a courageous man. RIP mister. Wish we all could have helped you. Life is NOT freaking fair.

Where are Scottie's folks? What you guys say, I forget his name, the guy here that does metal art, we commission him to make something special to honour Scottie and present it to his folks. Scottie's Mom and Pops are feeling the loss harder than us and a gesture of love and support will go a long way.

I’m at a loss for words. The only thing I can think of is based on this thread. My interaction with him was limited to a couple emails and, within the forum. He left a hell of an impression on everyone. Godspeed Scottie.

God, it's been years since I posted anything here. It's terrible that it took something like this to finally come back.

I read Scottie's post on Facebook a few days ago and it concerned me. I just didn't believe it would come to this.
Scottie and I went back a long way. From moto to servers and networking, we shared a lot of conversations. I know he fought depression as anyone would given his circumstances. We talked about it a few years ago. I now wish I could have done so much more.
Rest peacefully OCScottie.

Didn't he used to build tracks for motocross madness? Would be cool to list them all down if he did.

I hope someone sends his family some links to read all these comments.

I see I'm not the only one who's been thinking about him all day. Like others have said I wish I knew him better. He gave me so much encouragement and positive posts dealing with my injury last year, all the while I had NO idea who he really was, or what he himself was going through. Looking back and knowing what I know now makes me realize what an absolute stud and caring person he was, and that I'm sorry that I never got to hang out with him and thank him in person. He was also the first person to interact with me and make me feel welcome in here. What a class act. Seems weird to miss a guy you never met, but this one's hitting hard. I truly wish the medical field could have done more for him, and hopefully in the future the kind of suffering he went through can be lessened somehow. The pictures of him and especially the one with his Dad got to me.

I've had this song stuck in my head all day,

Rat in a drain ditch, caught on a limb
you know better but I know him
Like I told you, what I said,
steal your face right off your head...
9 mile skid, on a 10 mile ride, hot as a pistol but cool inside,
cat on a tin roof, dogs in a pile, nothing left to do but smile smile smile,
now he's gone, now he's gone, gone he's gone, he's gone
Like a steam locomotive, rolling down the track
he's gone, he's gone....gone, and nothings gonna bring him back...
he's gone.."

"Going where the wind don't blow so strange
maybe off in some high cool mountain stream
Lost one round but the prize wasn't anything but pat to the back, and more of the same....'

RIP Scottie, enjoy that cool mountain stream...

Yeah this is fucken heavy! Scottie and I have talked about it a time or two in the past, it's not exactly a bright future for us once we get too many years in a chair and I feel like I can say that in his final moments he would've felt an enormous amount of relief.. Wish I got to say goodbye but I understand..

Dude is finally free
Brother, he absolutely adored you. His messages giving you shit about Mad Skills are some of the funniest things I've read, he loved it.

Absolutely heartbroken. I've known OC since about 97 or 98 when we started the team OCR racing for Motocross madness. Love that guy like a brother. I've been trying to get ahold of him for the past couple of days since I was heading through his town last week and wanted to stop by and see him and his parents. Absolutely heartbroken. Love you tramp.
