It’ll be tough with Eli, but I think his chances of winning a 450 race are highest they’ve been in his career..And he expects to win..big confidence change.
Tomac does not have to win a race the rest of the season.
Fan favorite or not, Malcom will NEVER win a 450 title as long as he has to battle with riders that are smarter than him..
(How much more ‘too’ does he need to be to convince you?)
Really thought he could have battled for the win in Daytona before all of the drama.
Once Tomac backs it down a notch to mail it in, the Mookster will get his first win. But to beat a Beast Mode Tomac?....It aint happening.
Pit Row
I’ll be rooting for him to get his 1st win at Indy next week.
Looks like working with Aldon does work for many riders...at least for a while.
But 3 or 4 career podiums isn't exactly elite in my estimation, especially when compared to the accomplishments of the current 450 riders.
Big James said on occasion that Mookie was more talented than James, but not as driven about MX. James was simply so driven at a young age and developed his skills to the elite level (and beyond) at such a young age. Mookie was not as into it...and it took him a while to be all in on his dirt bike career.
I do agree that Aldon has got him to where he needed to be physically and he’s finally showing his true potential and I can see him getting a fair main event win. But championships alone are not easy to come by, let alone multiple championships, especially when the rider is getting long in the tooth.
I understand this is a Mookie Hype thread and don’t want to be a downer so I will say if he keeps it upright and heathy this year, and keeps up this pace, there’s no reason I would doubt him as a title contender next year. But you gotta take it step by step and walk before you run. He’s getting used to what running up front feels like in the 450 class but becoming a champion doesn’t happen overnight. I’m excited to see him on an outdoor track again!
