Wouldn't surprise me to see him call it a career although it would be a real shame for him to not win a 450SX title.

I have a lot of respect for the US top riders, on their national tracks they are as fast as any GP rider.
But stick them on the GP tour & they will start becoming lost in the variety of terrains, longer wk ends, track conditions, weather etc
Do you remember Mitch Payten saying the fastest riders are the fastest riders, shortly before the Lommel MXON, referring to the fact that the US nationals guys will still be on top despite never competing at Lommel.
What happened ? Pro circuit national champs Blake Baggest gets lapped by Tanol Leok.
Obv it would only happen at somewhere on the GP calendar as there is a different art to GP’s.
It’s a level above any national series..
Chase and dare I say it Jett are going through this right now but they are younger and more willing to take risks so they show flashes of dominance followed by pushing the bike over the edge and ending up on the ground.
The best thing for Roczen if he wants to keep racing is to get away from Honda.
Pit Row
At first you blame the bike and say he needs to get off of it but now you're saying it has to do with his age and mindset.
The mxgp tracks are certainly gnarly, but they are not as deadly as a sx track and if you make a mistake you might walk away without injuries. So in that respect he might actually consider it. The top runners in mxgp are crazy fast though.
I wonder how he would have performed recent years without the gnarly injuries he’s had.
The older you get the more your reflexes slow and the more risk averse you become. A bike that steers more works against that risk averse nature and as reflexes slow you lose the ability to keep the bike under you. This can make you hesitant and slow you down all over the track not just in rough or slick sections. A more stable bike won’t throw you on the ground at the slightest mistake, and you can continue to ride it more aggressively. So while you will lose time to the bike with more steering in spots on the track, the lack of crashes and comfort when pushing the bike will allow the “slower” bike with less steering to be ridden harder.
Cream will always rise though.
