Straight from Regan Duffy himself, here's the play-by-play of what happened on October 17th and the following circumstances that almost cost him his life. He also updates on his current condition and possibly returning to racing.

Wow! Never heard of anyone surviving a torn aorta, other than Gary Wells. Nice job and best of luck to you in the future.

Wow....that's similar to what happened to Nathan Woods, but with a pretty miraculous outcome. Unbelievable...someone was watching over him for sure...young man has a lot to live for.

Is it wrong that i read that twice and laughed both times.

But seriously , the fact he can even post about it is a huge thing.

Would have been watching him here in the first GP here in a few weeks, had this not happened.

If he gets another shot, that would be great.

Absolutely insane that he's recovered to the state he's in given the extent of the injuries. Modern medical care really is something else.

FH said the seat is open for him when he’s ready obviously this is based on time and speed but cool of FH

Man , that was just heart wrenching to read , but it made me smile towards the end. Way to go Regan! Those have to be some of the worst injuries / near death experience's I have heard , and you made it back onto a pit bike in 2 months!!?? Crazy. One tough kid!

Hope he makes a full recovery.

Having been lucky enough to move to Australia 6 years ago. I had seen my fair share of fast local GP boys in the UK and been on the same track many many times. I put Regan right up there with almost anyone and in the sand I feel as if there is only a handfull of riders that would give him a hard time. He has that Jeffrey Herlings esq look about him in rough sand.

Regan has the raw speed and talent to go very far in the sport. Fingers and toes crossed, can't wait to see him back racing locally in 2022.

The vascular surgeon and OR staff, scrub nurse, circulaters, PAs, techs….and the ICU definitly did their job. So happy for you! That’s amazing recovery.

Man what a read. that was some intense stuff. Aussie battler at its finest. crazy recovery.

"every man has two lives. And the second one starts when he realizes he only has 1"

with all the things we see on Vital.
was good to see some positives on here for once.

The more experience I have in life, the things I witness and stories I hear, the more I realize that there must be destiny for all of us. Simply put, when it's your time, it's your time. So might as well go out and live your dreams!

Here's to a full recovery m8!
