Dreadful- so young and getting so good on that KTM- aah its just too sad.

As said- who knows what can happen each day to day or minute to minute even .... 'live every moment like its your last', to coin a phrase but not sure that's so easy; as otherwise we would be possibly expecting a possible disaster all the time .... and in everything we do!

Such sad news and an outstanding young rider for sure. RIP
Badass racer too. Godspeed, RIP

So tragic, always seemed like such a great kid and obviously had a very promising career ahead of him. Just terrible, my thoughts go out to the families of Rene and his friends.

What a tragedy for all involved! And for the Moto community, we've lost a future world champ. He was just coming into his own down the stretch in 2021!

I am truly gutted. A friend of mine text me to say had I heard Rene had been killed. For some reason immediately thought he’d been involved in a car accident, god knows why I thought that. Jumped straight onto Vital & found out he’d been caught up in an avalanche.

My thoughts go out to his friends & family.

RIP Rene.

Shocking news, really puts into perspective how fragile things can be on this rock. That family looks really tight knit. As others said he very well could have been the next ktm rider to steam roll threw championships over seas, maybe even make it to America and make a career here. Geez he was just a kid, rest easy Rene u did things this year people never get in a whole career.

My son’s age. Heartbreaking. Seeing clips of him beaming with happiness on the podium made not just the loss for the moto community but also the human tragedy really hit home. Can’t imagine what the families are going through. Give your loved ones a hug and treasure every moment with them.

This is so tragic. He had such a future, riding dirtbikes everyweek, knowing the risks envolved, and then something like this happens. Just shows you never know when your time is up. RIP Rene.

Two of his friends killed were also motocross riders named at our news today Michael Weissmann, 19, ja Bastian Wolf, 24. They were hiking up in mountain with their skies when 200m wide and 4,5m height avalanche hit them.

Had the chance to see him at our local track a few times when KTM group hired the track for their riders. I never personally met him but Rene was known for his friendly attitude, always smiling and not taking his position as a factory rider for granted. Besides his warm personality, he also worked really hard to become a world champ one day. Which in my eyes he definitely had all the talent for.

The first time I saw him riding was at Loket on the 85cc, when he became the European Champion. In his final year in EMX125 he was SO good at Valkenswaard, if i'm right he was the only factory backed KTM rider at that time. He later had a nasty injury that season but he definitely caught my eyes that day, 4 seconds faster in race two than everyone. In 2019 he stepped up to EMX250 and had a wildcard ride at Loket again where he already was fighting for top 10 spots.
In 2020 he surprised everyone to directly fight for podiums in his first year as a full time GP rider. In 2021 he came back after that shoulder dislocation in 2020 and had his first GP win, MXDN MX2 win and some podiums..

His career was just starting and that makes it even harder to comprehend when you knew his potential. Life however, can be so damn brutal at times. Try to enjoy your days at the track or whatever passion you're waking up for, because as we see it can be taken from you in a split second. Rene will be remembered not only for his massive talent and skill, but also for his positive and hard working attitude.

As a moto community we've lost two other riders too, as both of his friends were riding dirt bikes in their free time. Ride in peace Rene, Michi and Bastian.
