Got to watch some barely known French rider on a non-factory bike beat all the factory guys at Gatorback years ago. JMB was so smooth to watch.

This was my view from the greatest SX race of all time, 1990 Atlanta. This was one of the last races at the old outdoor Atlanta Fulton-County Stadium, and it was cold as fuck that night. My favorite riders back then were Jeff Ward and Ron Lechien, so I was beside myself at what happened in the final laps of the race.

Super cool seeing RJ, Stanton, Chicken, Wardy, Omara, Bradshaw, Cooper and many others duking it out and literally swapping lead throughout the main.

A less potato-ey video I found:

I was there, as well. When the gate dropped for the main, nobody sat down, we were standing the entire race. I couldn't find anyone to go with me, so I took my (then) GF who brought a book to read during the race. The book was never cracked. Hell, even she was into it.

98? my first Supercross in Houston, At 4 years old watching Mcgrath do Nac Nacs, I was HOOKED, legit thought McGrath was the second coming of Christ😂

02? Stews rookie year, Houston Supercross watching him fall countless times and still podium

05? lake Whitney classic, villopotos last race as an amateur, pro circuit 250f barkin, he lapped the whole damn field nearly. I knew he was gonna be a problem in the pros after I watched him decimate everyone like that.

06 the first year they ran the Thunder Valley national, 4 strokes were starting to take over, and they all ran like fucking shit on the side of that mountain way up in elevation.

2012 last time I got to see Stew ride professionally at the Freestone outdoor national here in TX

2019? Closest Supercross finish in history as Webb passed Roczen up the face of the finish line.

-Hangtown 1997 - Ricky Carmicheal's first national win

-San Diego SX 2001 - Great battle between Carmichael and McGrath. RC takes the win and goes on to dominate and take his first 250SX title

-San Diego SX 2002 - James Stewart's first pro win

-Hangtown 2007 - Steve Lamson's last pro race. He qualified on a CR125 and wore his old 1996 gear. Also the last time I got to see Ricky Carmichael race. Awesome day!

-Anaheim2 SX 2008 - Awesome retro night event with David Bailey and Ricky Johnson riding around the stadium

-Hangtown 2010 - Eli Tomac's first pro race and first pro race and win

Those pics of Lamson are baddass! Although RC's first national win was at Gatorback Tongue

First SX I attended. Salt Lake 2017. Eli Tomac had an INCREDIBLE race that night. Absolutely blew me away. Not as amazing as some others mentioned, but it will always stand out to me
10/13/2021 10:22am
Las Vegas 2017 was probably the most significant I've attended in person. The Tomac vs Dungey and the bunching, but even more so, the last lap heroics of Osborne on Savatgy. The roar in Sam Boyd when that pass was made still make the hair stand up on my neck when I think about it.

Washougal in 1985, so long ago but pretty surreal that AJ Whiting won the 125 overall and Eric Eaton won the 500 overall. For both guys it was the only overalls in their careers.

I was also at Santa Clara for the first ever SX in Levi's Stadium in 2015, but that was not really notable for anything to do with the racing....

Southwick 81. Huge battle between Hannah and Howerton.. I think the entire series was historic.

Unadilla 1990. RJ's last National win ever. 3-1 in the 500 class

Budds Creek 95. Doug Henry launching off of what would become "Henry Hill"

Southwick 2011. Dungey missing the start and roaring up the start entering the race almost a lap down, and finishing 7th.

I've been to a ton of great ones but numero uno on my list is by far the Des Nations in 87 at Unadilla. It is was an incredible weekend. We made arrangements to stay in Syracuse because they were going to run the mile on Sat night but that got rained out. We were going to see practice Saturday but leave in time to get back and watch the flat track race but the weather obviously had other plans. So instead after practice Saturday we high tailed it back the hotel room had a few pops and then got up bright and early for race day. I remember all the talk about the weather favoring the euros blah blah blah, Hannah was to old and senile to race let alone on the 125 blah blah blah, Mickey diamond deserved the ride (he kind of did) blah blah blah. Instead RJ, Wardy and Bob went out and put a whoopin on the world. RJ was like on another plateau that day, he just laid waist to everything and everybody! Best day spectating ever for me Smile

I was at James Stewart’s final professional race ever. Washougal 2016 (i believe it was 16). Came out in the first moto and got something like 14th or maybe even worst. Then didn’t race the final moto.

Not quite the swan song departure he deserved but glad I got to see him in the pits and on the track for what was his last time out.

Washougal 16’ was epic. Alex “Troll Train” Martin won his first ever overall in the 250s (1-3) after battling with savatgy for like 20 mins all first Moto. Named to MXDN. Then Forkner comes out in moto 2 and wins his first ever pro race as a 16 year old I believe. Webb took out J.Mart and his title hopes. In the 450s Roczen and Tomac were sooo fast Tomac won overall going 2-1 to K-Roc 1-2. Stewart got 10th in moto one I believe and DNS moto two. Pourcels last outdoor national in the states also I believe. He was ripping but crashed badly late in moto 1 while battling with Eli. The only American race I have ever been too and I could not believe how fast they all are. Way faster than the cameras do justice and to this day I almost cannot believe how far they jump off the sky jump and flat land in the sandy chop like 60-80 ft down the straight away. You can feel it in your feet if you stand on the fence line!
I was at that one and it was an epic day. I stood in the beer garden having a couple hoppy cold ones next to the landing zone you called the sandy chop for the better part of a moto and it was frickin insane! They'd appear way over your head seemingly out of nowhere and just "thud" down in the sand pinned. Good stuff Smile The other thing besides me just being in awe of the place was I was standing at the fence in front of 180 before horsepower hill where Eli on like lap 3 came in ultra hot behind Marv who took the mid line and Eli BLITZED the outside crown molding and left Marv in his dust! Awesome day at the races Smile

Red Bud 1976 125 National. My buddy was a huge Marty Smith/Honda guy, he raced a sweet 125 Elsinore occasionally in d14 as well. Anyways he had no Idea about Bob (news traveled real slow back then) and so we go to the race together and during practice I casually point out the #39 and tell my friend Dan that this Bob Hannah dude is going to beat Marty today. My buddy laughed and said "yeah right" lol Wink

I watched Brad Lackey win the 500 World Championship at the last GP in Ettelbruck, Luxembourg in '82.

My memory's a bit vague now but I remember it very dry and dusty and that he was totally mobbed by fans at the finish. It was nuts.

I was at a Golden State series race (I think it was late 86) when Rick Johnson punched Ron Lechien in the face at the finish. It was a nasty mud race and Lechien brake checked Johnson a couple of times. I remember Lechien locked himself in his van and was flipping Johnson the bird. It was classic!

I was at the Moscow Supercross with the great RupertX!

I was also at the race Kenny Zahart was DQ'd at for giving his mechanic a ride over the finishline

I was at the 500cc Final in St Pete when Hannah lost the championship to Smith due to a carb clip or something like that.

The one and only Chicago SX that was cold AF and dangerous AF

RC's first comeback win with Suzuki, PHX

How was Moscow?

I’ll speak for Dave, here…. The weather was cold as were most of the people….we would never go back but we’re glad we went…. Probably not fair to judge Russians by Moscow in winter, alas things were fairly bizarro

Houston SX - Carmichael beating MC for the first time
Arlington - Webb beating the 94 in the last turn for the closest finish in 450SX history (that one was awesome)

Not quite historical but I also was at Paris SX when Peick had his horrific injury. You could tell it was bad right away.

OK, I will be showing my age here...
The first (and many after) USGP at Unadilla 1978 - The Rusians are coming!
The first national at Broome-Tioga 1979
The only Supercross at the then named Rich Stadium in Buffalo in 1984
The 1987 MXDN at Unadilla
The first USGP at Budds Creek in 1993
Someone else mentioned the 2000 Broome-Tioga national where RC won his first 250 title, I still have the signed rear fender!
The 2014 Toronto Supcross - Epic ride by JS7!
The 2017 Los Vegas Supercross - CRAZY! The entire crowd was on their feet for both mains.
The 2019 Daytona Supercross - last normal race of 2019!

I was in the Air Force stationed in England back in the '70's. I got to see Brad Lackey take the overall at the Farleigh Castle GP...the first American to win a 500cc GP. It was July and pretty warm for England...I happened to be wearing a t-shirt with a big American flag on the chest and my 10 gallon cowboy hat. I didn't pay for a single one of the far too many pints I had at the beer tent. That tour in England was the best 4 years of my life...I ain't kidding fellas.

Southwick 1998 when Dowd and Henry went 1-1.

2004 Indy SX at the old RCA Dome. Larocco led from start to finish and won before the hometown crowd. The place went nuts.

Stacked Lorreta classes in 2005

Stewarts battles with RC and Langston 2007 Southwick

Souhwick 2010. Metcalfe runs out of gas on the last lap while leading Dungey
