Well, they are not hampered by any existing commitment to a design.

I hope they do something a bit different, but, making money is important, so, they'll be doing / will have done, a shedload of market research.

The involvement with Bajaj is interesting, what with Bajaj already being a manufacturing partner ( with something like 49% ownership of KTM, and always ready to get control if at all possible) of KTM.

Bajaj are far bigger than either KTM or Triumph, by the way.

Triumph have had several factories in Thailand for decades now , heck, most every Manufacturer has.

Just the fact that a manufacturer is going into MX / Off-road production, is a great thing. Among the doom and gloom about the future of Dirt Bikes, it's something to smile about. Triumph have also, already shown that they have an Electric Motorcycle project , so, I'd be very surprised if MX and Off-road aren't a part of it - re the my first sentence in this post.

Am I alone in wondering how this can be successful? To come up with a competitive motorcycle to compete with the current manufacturers is a TALL order, let alone a vast dealer network, parts selection etc. Sort of has Cannondale written all over it. Maybe I will be wrong and eat my words. We'll know within 3-4 years how all this plays out I guess.

Over hyped deal here. There was supposed to be an AMA/FIM announcement? Glad to see a new company in the sport, after the biggest sales year ever during Covid this sport has re-awakened. Let's see some rider's and bikes and race teams. So far we have brand ambassadors and t-shirts.

They are a awesome brand. I’ve owned a Thruxton, Bonneville, Tiger and Speedmaster. Never had any mechanic issues with any of them. Can’t wait to see what the MX model will look like. I’m thinking very KTM-ish 👍

If you actually follow the history of it the Harley dirtbike was fairly successful, unfortunately it was after Harley sold it.

That's great feedback. At this stage in my life, late-30s, father to young children and business owner, I can ill afford the risks associated with superbikes. I've had them all before, R1/R6, ZX10R, Ducati 996R and a few supermoto bikes and the novelty wore off after a close friend died on one of our rides. But, I live close to some incredible scenery and mountain roads and fancy taking it in on something sensible. Looking at the Triumph road models, they have a number of options that fill that brief without being boring!

The Triumph name has been around since the late 1800s, so I reckon they'll be alright Smile Don't mention norton tho

Anyway, weld some tubes together, throw in a single 250 cylinder engine, how hard can it be? Smile

How is the internationally available Triumph motorcycle brand going to build a dealer network? Umm. Are you OK?

Also if I remember correctly, Ricky announced he was giving away his PC KX on instagram like a week ago if I understood it correctly. Makes more sense now.

They definitely have the talent and ability to build a smaller, lighter weight motorcycle. Lets see how the plays out. It wont be easy to be competitive with the current bikes, but it sure is great to see another brand coming into the sport.

Still rocking my 2012 Tiger 800XC. Fantastic motorcycle.

So if you're Triumph, you have a clean slate to start with. I think they take each existing bike and determine the pros/cons. To me... the biggest decision will be weather to go with a steel or aluminum frame. Personally, I'd start by mimicking KTM steel frames (flexibility) but try to match Suzuki ergonomics (cornering). Will be interesting to see what the do in-house and what they outsource.

I'm perfectly ok thanks, just throwing in my 2 cents.

Don't get me wrong, I'm very aware of who Triumph is and what they are about. Closest Triumph dealer to me is over two hours away. They are far and few between in comparison to say a Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki or Yamaha dealer. It's going to be very difficult to convince someone to buy a Triumph mx bike over any other established brand regardless of who they have hired as an ambassador. Time will tell either way.

I find it odd they didn’t atleast have a 3D rendering of the bikes or even announce what displacements It models they plan on offering. What about small bikes? Or 2 strokes? Are they gonna build trail bikes?

Whether Triumph can macth this technical development will be interesting. Starting from scratch may be a good thing.

This is so cool for the sport... How awesome will it be to see a Triumph in the Nationals and Supercross.

Love my Triumph Tiger... RC is not kidding...the craftsmanship is top notch.
