Forkner is fast...but he talks mucho shit for a rider who hasn't won any more than he has. I hope he comes back and shows what Mitch thinks he's capable of...and perhaps he'll have matured a little being on the sidelines. Being out of the spotlight does that sometimes.

I love seeing threads like these. A guy doesn't win a title or hasn't won enough titles and off to pasture lol. There's a lot of great riders who haven't won a title. Give the kid a break, he's coming off a major injury. I don't care for the kid but it is what it is. If he wins, great, if not who cares. There's a lot of kids who are supposed to be the next big thing and it doesn't work out. They are all better than most of us will ever be on a motorcycle. Gotta love this pile on/cancel culture mentality.

Pretty sure this isn’t a good thing and talking about collective issues is how change happens…

Not a fan of his but bet he ends up top 5 overall if he can stay healthy all year.

If this didnt happen he may very well have finished top 5. He went 7-6 for 6th. I was there and kept an eye on him, especially in moto 2. He charged in moto2 all the way til the end and passed Mumford on the last or next to last lap. Was closing on Colt too.

I think he will be fine and I wont be surprised if he gets a top 5 o/a at Red Bud.

I love how every time there’s a thread about Forkner people have to start out their comment with something like “I never liked him or I was never fan of his but..” yet they care about him enough to comment on a thread about the guy. Lol

Just saw the video. It’s the type of reckless riding that has caused the majority of his issues. That other rider would have been seriously jacked up if he got landed on.

Hunter Lawrence is 22, what's your point?

AC was 22 (almost 23) when he put it together. Forkner was tearing it up in 2019 before he got hurt indoors. Give the guy a break. Sure, if he isn't top 5 by the end of this season and he struggles next year he probably won't have great offers, but let's give him the rest of the summer to see how things go.

Probably that this isn’t MLB and most riders peak around 25-27, which he’s closing in on.

Plenty of guys are racing longer. Who would have thought Osbourne would have titles based on his first few years racing?

Ferrandis is 27 and just now getting on a 450. Whats to say Forkner cant do the same? Sure he needs to start producing on a 250, but all Im saying is the guy has potential. I think he just needs a yr or 2 to get confidence back like AC needed.

Ferrandis won his first championship at 25. RC was retiring at 25 or 26. Times have changed.

I think a change with revive him unless there is an underline sickness or a minor nagging injury that he is dealing with.

There was also the deal with his chick and those headgames can easily put one off their A game.

We all know that to compete at the pinickle everything has to work like the finest Swiss watch. I'm giving him the benefit of the boubt and look forward to that Forker Fire to come alive down the line.

Wish him the best going forward.

The big difference with Ferrandis is, he rode GPs for years battling for podiums and wins. Then decided to move to the US. Start from zero to move to 3 titles in a few years and now leading the 450 MX.

That’s a whole different story and ball game and does deserve allot more respect and credits then what he is getting.

I agree with you times has changed and age doesn’t really matter anymore, US or MXGP still plenty off “old dogs” running up front.

I think a new team and switch up should be good for Forkner. Just a fresh start with new people and a new way, because what he is doing now is simply not working.

OP Really ??
Fer christ sakes give him some time, its been 3 races. Some maturity and having to build back up, may help him in the long run. Guess we’ll see

My point was Ferrandis had been racing pro for a while, regardless of whether it was MXGP, Mx or Sx he just got his first title at 25. Yes, hes always been a great rider and quick but it took him a while to win a championship.

No one can deny that Forkner was killing it in sx in 2019, he was so close to winning the title even with an injury. The guy has speed just needs to string it together and avoid injuries. He has the potential to ride a 450 at the factory level.

He still has time to right the ship. He's been through hell injury wise. He knows how to go fast and just needs some more time.

Really can’t believe how the year is going for him. I’m not sure he was even mentioned once in the broadcast last week.

Is he injured? Something else?

He’s supposed to be a contender. Can’t remember the last time someone who was supposed to really be the top of the class, come out so underwhelming to start things off.

Can he right the ship? Or is this the beginning of the end for him? Not trying to be harsh. Just wondering what you all think.
Forkner did pretty well at High Point, which I'm assuming you watched. He fought his way through the field from mid pack to well within the top 10 in both motos and was putting up solid lap times. If he had good starts, he probably could've pulled of a moto podium.

I guarantee you Austin will end the season with multiple OA podiums and top 5 in the standings, which is pretty good for a guy who lost organs last year.

reminds me a lot of Austin Stroupe (on the bike) during his PC days. When he has it together, one of the fastest guys on the track. Other times...has you shaking your head wondering wtf is going on.

Forkner is better then Stroupe. When was Stroupe ever the guy per say?

He was always a podium contender but never more then that.

I love all of the thumbs down on posts. Basically a bunch of keyboard ninjas who disagree with anything slightly positive or that makes sense about forkner. Why not just say what you feel instead of hiding on the down vote?

The kid is fast, he will rebound and be fine. Been through hell and back. I’ll laugh when everyone who wrote him off watches him mature and start to excel like he always has done. Each person will be a new fan like those who hated Reedy until his latter years and then say everyone will miss him when he is gone.

Nobody is hiding behind downvotes. Pretty much everyone is saying they don't much like Forkner. No one denies his talent. Kid isn't very likeable. At least when AC had his struggles he had so much personality and charisma. Forkner? Ya not so much. As in at all

I’m a big fan of Forkner. It’s lessened a bit just with some of his stupid stuff. But I’m still a fan.

There is no denying his talent. I can’t recall the first outdoor race he won. And maybe it was just a moto or maybe the OA. Was it 2018? He was so fun to watch.

Feels like it was ages ago and he’s regressed quite a bit. I did not know he was still suffering from any injuries. I just assumed if he was out there then he’s 100% but that appears not to be the case.

Be interesting to see how the rest of outdoors goes.
