Does anybody like seeing "Rider Gap Times" most of the time?

This seems to be NBC's new plan this year - to show "gap times" 90% of the time. I have no interest in gap times. I would match rather see "time behind leader".

It's easy to determine gap times between two riders. It's not easy to figure out how far back the 10th place guy is from the leader.

I'd rather them do it the opposite. Rider gaps are fine but behind leader should be up most of the time.

I like the old way better. At the first race this year I was like WTF is wrong with the time clocks.

Time behind leader. For the love of god. And shorten the riders names. And only use 1 decimal place. No reason the image needs to take up 1/3 of the screen. Tighten it up some.

Yeah, 3 decimals is ridiculous. Unnecessary precision. There is no realistic difference between a rider being down 1.843 seconds and 1.8 seconds.

Oh, also I hate the new grey rider names at the bottom of the screen for the 21st-40th place guys. You can barely read the names.

(But props to NBC for changing GasGas to red.)

I agree with everything you stated. This would give us more screen real estate.

Better than fastest lap. After qualifying is over, fastest lap is irrelevant.

In order of importance:
Time behind leader
Last lap time
Gap
...
....
Fastest lap

After getting back into watching moto gp this year I really see how much better the broadcast info of the racing could be for MX/SX. If we could get our sport to include onboard speeds / heart rate / fender cams (roost, I know...) etc. that would be cool.

How hard would it be to have a rotation of X.X gap and x:xx:xx lap time cycled every 30 secs...

I don't care about that, I can mentally suss that one out.

But I never, ever, ever want "Fastest Lap"

I like the gap being shown as well. I like to seeing how close people are to each other and it just takes some quick math to figure out how far they are back from the leader.

I like it because it gives me a quick look at how riders are progressing. I think its better with the gap times. I don't care how far behind 10th is from the leader, I'd rather see quickly if he's catching 9th or not.

The math to figure the gap between the 10th place guy (1:16.097 seconds behind leader) and the 11th place guy (1:22.264 seconds behind leader) is FAR easier to do than the math to figure out how far the 10th place guy is behind the leader (12.463 + 6.983 + 1.847 + 10.019 + 0.987 + 27.893 + 7.379 + 0.876 + 33.282).

Either is fine but like to occasionally see lap times to see who is going fast further back in the pack

Quick: What is 12.463 + 6.983 + 1.847 + 10.019 + 0.987 + 27.893 + 7.379 + 0.876 + 33.282?

Yeah, I would like to know who is going fast, but a single lap time isn't always helpful. If they could give us "average of last 3 laps" or something like that, it would give us a better idea of who is hot or cold right now.

Enough that it doesn’t matter haha You do make a good point, though.

Lap times, fine. But "Fastest lap time" (especially with no indication of what lap it was on), hell no.

I dont want anything on the screen except the racing. I also want to hear the bikes louder than the announcers. Actually no announcers would be better.

If you're playing Pulp Fantasy, you have A-Ray, and he's a 18 handicap, it's better to know gap times to know if he'll be able to get double points or not. haha

Gap time gives me more information and prefer it over absolute time behind leader for positions 3 on.

No I can do basic math to figure it out. But I don't want to take 5 minutes to add up all the totals to figure out how far they are behind the leader. Or wait 2 minutes staring at the scoreboard for it to change to time behind leader.

Last lap time or time behind leader. Everything else is lame IMO.

Love gap times ... I'd like them to freak the world out with actual on-track running order...

Doesn’t matter what it adds up to, all you need to know from looking at that is there are probably sweet battles going on for fourth and seventh the broadcast is missing. Smile

I like the gap better but it would be cool if they rotated them along with some more lap time info.
