I have an orange bike and love it
I think the Suzuky is very nice, but if I stall the engine entering a tight turn (cause I'm dumb) I can restart it in a fraction without even coming to a complete stop

I've got three bikes, two have kick-start and those same two are the lightest production mx bikes built.

Objectively, all three bikes are much better than previous yellow ones I've had.

Realistically, one of the riders sucks so who cares as long as your having fun! Cool

Man the whole e-start/ Kickstarter thing is an embarrassment to the sport. We’ve become so entitled, needy and soft. Whatever happened to ride what ya brung, days in the dirt with your mates? Washing the dust off your teeth with a cold beer in the arvo while you all laugh about squirrelly moments in the preceding hours. Don’t remember a Kickstarter ever ruining those days.
Whatever happened to riding for fun?!

I know it’s different in serious racing ranks, but anyone that questions the competitiveness of the RMZ 450 only needs to watch the start of a current SX- anyone noticed those yellow privateer bikes consistently at the front of the pack heading into the first corner amongst all the factory bikes???

i had both an rmz and kx450.

loved both, tho i think if i had to pick i think i would pick the kx450 06 even over new bikes in terms of engine and chassis.

Yea my old man bought me a 94 husaberg fc501 with a left side kick when I was 13. Never slowed me down..I was the only one that could start it though.

As a Zook fan, it's sad that they haven't updated much, but it's even more sad that a lot of people will trash them in this sport. Suzuki gives back way more than the orange brand. Watch the race tonight, and you will see the Zook logo all over the place. Watch the winner's interviews and check out the wall behind them, never seen an orange logo there ever

Nothing wrong with the kickstart on the Zook, but having that magic button stalled on a hill or slope when you need to hold the bike with the right leg comes in handy.

If only you'd been around back in the days of DeCoster, Robert, Geboers, Rahier, Wolsink, Watanabe, Masuda, Distefano, Grossi, and LaPorte - you'd know how truly sad your comment is. Racing dominance was a way of life for Zook back then, as was revolutionary innovation and class-leading performance. Back then, if you wanted to know where the Suzuki pits was, especially in the G.P.s, all you had to do was look for the biggest crowd. KTM, on the other hand, had about two fans for their mean, anti-social, hard-core communist Russian riders.

If you can't see what Suzuki has lost, it's only because you aren't aware of what they once had; and if you can't see what KTM has built, it's only because you don't know what they started with.

Truth. I am a die hard Suzuki guy. I remember even as late as 2003-2004 looking down the starting line at a packed 125 intermediate class that was all Suzuki and Yamaha. If you showed up with a KTM, you better have a spare motor in the back of your Dodge D50 for the second moto.

KTM came out with guns blazing and, although the off road/moto segment is small in the big picture, they have asserted dominance. They built what the consumer asked for. They changed the industry. We used to have a bin in the shop just for stock handlebars to go to the recycler. Now most brands come with better chains, better bars, better grips etc.

I am hoping Suzuki steps it up, I will probably stay loyal either way. I don't need confirmation from the masses to make me feel good about my choices.

Another Suzuki diehard here. I became a fan when my dad rode Suzuki and he would take me to watch DeCoster, Robert and Geboers race at Saddleback and Carlsbad. I am still a fan today and kick start my bike every week!

I believe Suzuki will be back. And I will stay loyal to yellow!

Hey I’m 67 and don’t mind kicking it ...I did lose 2nd moto last race...because I went down in corner and couldn’t get it started...1st usually starts 1st kick thinking it’s because I forgot to use choke ?

I would say that Covid has slowed down production as well as development in Japan this year .Usually spy photos
sneak out from the Japanese MX Nationals where manufacturers run their updated (prototype) bikes. These bikes
are usually the next years models. I haven't seen any of these photo's on the web. Their RMX450 enduro bikes looks
like it was discontinued. Suzuki could easily use the RMX engine cases/tooling to adapt Estart to their RMZ450.
I Hope to see a new RMZ450 for 2023?

Cockpit and chassis is near perfect, most important thing for me. Isn’t the 250 the best turning bike also. There is a member on here with a JM racing detailed bike build. The 250 sounds like a great bike. Suzuki contingency is by far the best payout, pays 2 classes on 1 bike also. I looked lastnight new 250,s selling for 6,100-,6,400.

I hope that GAS GAS makes a kick start 450. I had more fun on a carbureted kickstart 125 than I ever had riding motorcycles. I've literally never had a mechanical issue with a kickstarter in almost 30 years.

Im on a 2018 yz250f right now and even with all my kick start bikes say from 2010 onward I have never ever ever taken any longer to get my bike started and going then a electric start bike. They pop over with one or 2 kicks especially since efi. I have watched quite a few e starts not start up after a first turn pile up or after a crash. The Estart I've had it on my ktms while it very nice, it's over rated unless your knees or hips are fucked. I would take a kick start and a loss of weight cost over a button any day.

Except kick start doesn’t come with a weight loss. The ktms are the lightest in every class.

Lets hope it comes with a better Kickstart than the 2016 and newer austrian 125s since they have terrible issues with the ratchet slipping.

Outdated, overweight, and no E-start.....doesn't bother me as Suzukis are still my favorite bikes and if I was buying a new 450 I would buy yellow because they handle like a dream and a kickstarter has never bothered me in 30 years.

It doesn't get any sexier than yellow but the new hondas are a close second place:






Maybe it’s just me ? but it seems like there’s been a few pros that looked smoother and more comfortable when they were on Suzuki’s vs other brands. Reed, RC, Bubba, Dungey, Peick come to mind. I thought those guys looked smooth and relaxed on RMZ’s. I haven’t ridden one, but guys I know that own them say they love how they handle. But until they get the button I think they’re not on most guys radar.
