It sucks! I am looking for a bike to start riding some again. It is crazy what people are asking for used bikes.

Try importing Skylines... 3 years ago I could get a gtr v spec. Landed to my door for under $30k. Now, i cant pull one out of auction for under $35k. Want an R34? 2 years ago, $50-75k depending on spec. Now? Nothing under $100k. V spec2? $150k, v spec nur spec? $275-325k. Just at auction...
Yep, I sold my 59 rag top for 7k a few years ago, the guy recently sold it for 16. I saw a 66 resto go for 60k at auction. My buddy was offered 70k for his mid 60s microbus that he paid 2500 for 15 years ago.

I’ve done pretty well in life, but not well enough to pay 60k for a VW no matter how much I like it.

I think Broncos have been crazy for a long time. I had no idea RX7s were so expensive until my nephew bought one.

Any rust bucket with a 2jz motor in it has tripled in price, and good luck getting a Supra for under 20k.

Yep. I'd rather just not have a bike than pay these ridiculous prices.

Gas prices are climbing. Some of these sellers, can’t afford to drop 300 on gas to go ride. 125 bike prices are crazy, 2 cr125 for 23k. They all post competitive price in current market. A lot of states are covid open. Prices will drop, if sellers stop over paying. A lot of stupid bling bikes, with power coated frames and swing arms, etc. these bikes are hard to sell.

So true.... I cannot believe the value of a mid/late 60s bugs and we are talking about the kind that is only ready to start restoration. I should have kept mine from high school. Recycler was hundreds to 1,500$ max. then although this was a long time ago. But still "come on man!".

Although dirt bikes are expensive I don't have a problem with that as much as I do say a manufactured in china MTB.

Yup. It’s sellers market. Sold my boat 25% more than what I paid for In 2010? Real estate can appreciate, then so can bikes. This consequences of shutting down economies, reducing supply, thus enhancing local activities (no more world travels). Plus increase money supply (printing trillions) at lowest interest rates ever. Inflation is planned. This will continue for few years, until it cannot.

I don’t know that it’s possible to price gouge on a non-essential luxury item.

Also...are high priced inflation (devalued dollar) or supply and demand? I might be wrong, but With COViD and the breakdown in the supply chain of new bikes...it’s pushing more and more people used, plus, there was a massive push for outdoor activities...so more people fighting over a limited supply of new bikes makes demand for used bikes incredibly high.

I just bought a new 21 YZ450FX...only a couple dealers in utah even had one in stock...most had no idea when they’d even get one....my wife and I were looking at a new Toyota Sienna...same deal there...few dealers had one in...virtually none on the used car market...and the used ones on there are expensive!

I just sold my bike on Sunday. I live in missouri. It was a 2019 YZ250F with 75 hours, brand new top end, suspension revalved/resprung and alot of small nice parts on it.. I sold it for $4500. The next day, the guy is trying to sell it for $5700.. almost the same price you could buy a leftover for last year. Did I sell too cheap? I feel like I priced it pretty fairly.

Oops, post while unloading in Memphis. Prices may drop if , buyers stop over paying. But everything is expensive now. I can drop over 300 eating fast food in a week, trucking. I ran northeast loads for 10 days straight, b4 I left the area. No food available for a couple days. I felt horrible, throwing up acid liquid. I walked to a strip mall to go restaurant 18.90 for a sandwich. And they where busy, because ever other restaurant was out of business. Old cars forget it, 71 Lemans for 25k. I owned a few, they look cool but are pretty slow. Guys that bought those old cars now buy, 90,s cr,s and restore them.

This.

If you can manage to live without a house, boat, motorcycle, car or truck right now, sell it all. Then rake it all back in for cheap sometime in the next few years.

By the way, I have a roachy, clapped-out motorcycle for sale. It used to be a 2006 YZ250 but now it's just a blue blob of grease and bent parts. She runs, though. Needs a new swingarm, fork seals, suspension bushings, full brake rebuilds at both ends, steering stem bearings & races, and a top end. (At some point, a bottom end, too - never done it and there's about 1,000 hours on the bike.) I'll let her go for $10K. Woohoo Grinning

In ohio, ABSOLUTELY!! Doesnt matter what it is. If it runs the price is $5000. A 2002 xr50 that should be listed at 7-800 is listed at 1500. A $3500 sport bike with 30k miles and is a 2004 is $5000. Its absolutely ridiculous. Im fighting back with KBB and NADA values. It needs to stop.

I'm getting ready to list a bike. Is it unrealistic to ask 7500-8K for the following? Picture below - it's not a current picture at work! It's spotless after every ride. Just curious what's realistic / fair - I'm not out to rip anyone off, but obviously I'd like to get what I can when I post it.

2020 CRF250r - 20.5 hours
Tokyo mods remapped ECU
Tokyo mods manual timing chain tensioner
Factory Connection Re-valve and Springs for 175-185 B rider
Rekluse manual torque drive clutch - with rekluse basket (4 hours)
Yoshimura RS-9 exhaust (also 4 hours)
Twin Air - air filters
RecMX oil filter cap
ARC RC8 perch and lever
ARC Brake lever
Works Connection Radiator Braces
Works Connection Engine Plugs
Works Connection Hour Meter
Twisted Development spark plug holder
Gieco Honda Case Saver (I think TM makes them)
Carbon fiber gas tank cover

If people don’t buy this stuff...

The prices will come down.

I’m still laughing my ass off at the geniuses that told me I’d paid too much for the 2007 RM125 I bought in December ($3,500 for a saweeeet little scooter).

Same thing with c-10 square body Chevy's. They are rusty junks that drive like shit, but everyone wants one for some reason....The Supra pricing is hilarious.

I bought an original turbo second gen RX7 a few years ago, super nice car. Ended up hurting the engine. Sold the car, less engine and a few other components, for nearly double what I paid for it...and I actually let it go a bit cheaper than what everyone else was asking. My current second gen RX7 is worth over double what I paid for it...so no complaints here haha.

Funny thing about the square body, i gave my son an 01 2500 and we found out the frame was shot...and the rest was in rough shape, just my old work truck. He traded it for a 84 in actually pretty good shape with 57000 miles on it.....even up.

same trucks around here in way worse shape are selling for 2-4k.

Boats are ridiculous right now- We ordered a new ‘21 wakeboard boat last fall and got a great price. I am seeing the same model from 2018 priced several thousand more than we paid ..

Again, it’s a free market.

Most of my life I’ve been stuck buying high and selling low..

6k for a 94 Toyota pick up in so cal right now. I was buying them for 500-100 about three years ago. Used market is ridiculous right now. I saw an 89 yz250 that was beat to shit stickers all over it barely any plastics for 2200. And it was sold in an hour...

Yeah the restyle kit is super Lame. 02-04 cr125 are slow. 05-07 ,s much better, but there easily the most over priced bike being sold. In Minneapolis a guy is asking 23k for 2 new 06,s. He states a 07 cr125 at mecum brought 12,100, actually it was 12,500. That’s when all bikes prices went up. I found a like new 06 cr250, for 4,200. I know I should buy it, but I want a 125.

The market dictates price. Standard supply and demand, economic theory. Remember to do your due diligence. And don't be the greater fool.
