Serious question; are you not allowed to get n95’s on your own and use them at the hospital? They seem to be readily available on the net. I went to the hospital once during COVID, and they made me through away my n95, and use their surgical style mask.

Much of this is unfortunately dictated by legal teams and unions. For example, here in Canada the nursing and health professional unions mandate that the employer supply the N95 to shift the responsibility onto them. I can only imagine in the American system the legal teams for hospitals/organizations do not want staff wearing self-sourced PPE as it might expose a legal risk if the employee were to have a bad outcome.

As for them making you toss the mask, I think that happens in many health care settings just to ensure the outpatient is not bringing in something considered "contaminated". May well depend on wear you are headed upon arrival, like the ER/surgery will want higher safety precautions than maybe going for an outpatient X-ray.

Not saying any of the above is ideal, just answering your questions.
It’s not that organized. The union where I’m at doesn’t have a clue. They’re not sourcing or creating process to source. They’re creating problems through red tape. Everyone needs to calm the hell down and work together instead of constantly having an us vs them posture. Just do the right thing. But we can’t do that in America.

It’s a blanket shit show and nobody can source because people don’t calculate actual and projected burn rates. I’ve worked with a few different health systems that can’t understand this concept and need help to figure it out. Once they get the new process in place it works.

Too many people making decisions that have never taken care of patients at a bedside level. They have no clue. Everything on paper sounds great but doesn’t always work at the bedside. A blanket presidential executive order throwing money at fema doesn’t work (Biden). But also throwing an executive order to make thousands of ventilators and hand sanitizer didn’t work either (trump). High level government Officials disconnected from hosptials can’t fix this problem with a stroke or a pen.

N95s aren’t all the same either. Medical grade vs construction grade vs Chinese grade (who knows what’s youre getting) n95s still allow 5% particulate through anyway. It’s not all guaranteed safe. Minimize exposure and don’t hang around people coughing and hacking.

Working in a covid ER at the moment. Covid isn’t the problem. And we aren’t testing for flu. Haven’t swabbed ONCE for flu. So do y’all think we will know if people have the FLU? If we aren’t testing for it ? Not trolling here, just pointing out what I’m seeing hands-on. Can’t say for sure if the rest of country and world isn’t testing for flu but makes me wonder. We are so hyper focused on the Rona that we may be missing a lot of other things we used to pick up on easily.

Also the covid positives I’m finding are people that live close together for extended periods and appear to have poor hygiene. Extreme poverty high risk.

So for ARAY to just be shooting the shit with other riders, I still think him spreading it to all the riders in these short scenarios probably doesn’t have the hugest probability. (If he’s coughing on people where he can feel spit on there face maybe.)

I can’t pinpoint why I’ve been in close contact with covid+ for extended periods of time and not popped hot. I have a n95. But the supply is so low in hosptials that in rewearing them and they don’t always have the best seal. No way around it. They can’t source more. For whatever reason. The images in the media you’re seeing with people in full hazmat gear taking care of patients—-I haven’t seen that once and I’ve been bounced around to quite a few areas. We are re using n95 masks placing them in paper bags and re wearing on a 5 day rotation and using gowns that are being laundered. There’s no scuba gear. No decontamination chambers before we go into rooms....these places are extremely limited on resources and it seems like grays anatomy makes it seem like we are all very well protected with PPE. Fake.

Poverty. Filth and living in close quarters it spreads. But if you’re generally clean. Shower. And keep your distance it’s a lower risk to get it. This is anecdotal personal hands on experience. Not medical advice and I haven’t studied it. So, there’s that to consider too. Maybe I’m just lucky.

That’s nice. Haven’t seen that type of equipment being provided to ER nurses. We’d burn through it faster than they could source it. so maybe that’s why they won’t get it to us.

This is my daily kit. Purchased myself. Funny how I can get it. But hospitals can’t. why would they attempt to get it when their employees get it for themselves though ? if we all went on strike they’d get the shit quick.

My question is what kind of test did he take. That PCR test is 90% inaccurate if cycled more than 25 times. The "WHO" finally came out and admitted it. Most places were cycling the testing 40-45 times to get a covid positive result.
Wow, that sounds really interesting. Is there a website you can link that will allow me to read more about the PCR test issue?
Crickets
https://www.publichealthontario.ca/-/media/documents/ncov/main/2020/09/…

cycling more will increase positives. ontario threshold at the time of this paper was 38. The control positive reached threshold at 27 cycles. This will likely lead to false positives. US cdc "has been able to culture virus specimen from low 30 cT (cycles) positive tests" This means they were able to grow it in a lab at low 30 ct values. It is likely the threshold is to high, but for symptomatic patients it is very accurate. For asymptomatic patients it is more likely to be a false positive.

It is interesting and there are issues.

Threads like this make it clear why the US has been so pathetic in dealing with the pandemic.

On masks: “Humans aren’t built to have their breathing restricted”.

It’s like something a 7 year old would say to get out of washing their hair.

Research rewards the researcher with a wealth of excellent data. I suggest it strongly.......as there is a much bigger issue that affects us all and it is not Rona! Engage the Critical Thinking Skills or forever regret your indecision.

Almost, I just need to see a few more charts, graphs and stats, and maybe some more links, memes, and irrelevant stories of personal experience. That stuff is fascinating and persuasive.

I find it hard to believe that some on this forum claim to ride yet are scared of a sniffle! It's got to be exhausting living in fear this last year. Enjoy the greatest sport on earth! Put the fear away!

Can you point me to anyone on this forum that is "scared" and "living in fear"? Has anyone on this forum said they are not riding because of the 'rona? That seems awfully dramatic.

I think you misunderstand. I bet no one on this forum under age 75 is afraid of getting sick. My wife and I have been lucky to keep working and can’t afford to miss any time.
And we certainly don’t want to be responsible for making anyone else ill.

I'm not afraid of getting it, but I am afraid of allowing my ego to kill others, so I wear a mask out of consideration for my fellow humans. There's a reason why pride is one of the seven deadly sins.

Fear isn't being projected? Anyone who wears a diaper on their face is living in fear! My own grandmother who's turning 85 this year laughs at the current level at hysteria. She lived in Croatia during WW2. My grandfather was imprisoned and tortured by the Germans. Do you think they fear Corona? Do gooders think they are helping but all they are doing is showing the greatest generation how weak we are. My grandfather raced motorcycles in Europe for years after WW2. Do you think he wore a helmet? LOL. We are trying to bubble wrap our society. To the strong we look pathetic.

I’ve absolutely seen a few members losing their shit at people for riding and saying they would never risk going to the track right now. An extremely small, completely irrational number to be sure, but they do/did exist.Pinch

I find it hard to believe anyone on this forum wants to be responsible for someone else's loved one dying because they demanded to be served dinner indoors and refuse to wear a mask while they shop for groceries, but here we are.

the road to hell is paved with good intentions

i don't want to hurt anybody by spreading the virus but the control that has been exerted over society has sinister implications and the response has been heavily influenced by party politics. It is unfortunate that measures that preserve personal liberties are no longer in vogue

Your being as careful as my kids are who build a blanket wall to protect themselves from the monsters who live under their bed. Some people never grow up. The Corona Boogie Monster has caused grown ass men to wear a diaper on their face. It's gotten them to be willing to accept anything in the name of moral superiority. Reason, logic and reality no longer matter. You still building that blanket wall?

Wow - 1/3 vs 2/3 - I would never have believed that if I was told.

We need further analysis. I'm in the 1/3 and I'm 68 years young and I don't watch any MSM.

.....and you?
