I lived when he called races on ESPN. Very happy to have him back. He’s been my personal favorite outside of Eckman.

Cool to see some of these people back at their roots! Jamie Little a year or so ago and now Todd Harris. Makes me feel like it’s 2004 again. Now if only we could see a 259 kx125 out there to tie it all together
Don’t forget Cameron Steele to complete the trio.

I thought he was pretty good, it does bring back memories hearing his voice again. Just a little too much “stoke” in his voice for me at least in this first round. B+

Give this man a long term contract, he's the best race caller we've had in 15+ years

I don't think either are better, but for me, I'm not so invested in the announcing that I think it's a loss.

Bottom line...

I like Diffey

....but Harris slipped on like a silk glove tonight. A job very well done.

...and yeah, I still miss Ralphs excitement.

Yeah, he had quite a few flubs. Called Ferrandis "Fernandez" a couple times. Got tangled up with his words a few times.

Could just be a little nervous maybe?

Took me back to being a teenager watching RC, Stew and Reed go at it every week. Great to hear an old familiar voice in the booth. He’s very good

Tonight he made just as many mistakes and said just as many dumb things as Ralph would've.

As above a lot of the yrs suddenly rolled away hearing his commentary again... He's OK, they're both OK imo but I wouldn't put it stronger than that at the moment. I do still miss the Art and Bailey days, and for me Paul in the GPs is still the current king.

What Bailey especially had was technical analysis but also the ability to weave a narrative, a story, for the audience.

For instance last night, here's how I think Art and David would've done it -

Art: "Tomac gets Ken. Oh but Ken immediately back by, David! What great action we have tonight"

David: "Yeah he had to Art, he had to, that was critical. I sort of get the impression, with the way it's gone over the last couple of yrs for Ken, that perhaps Eli is like, 'No problem, I caught Ken and I'll pass him and that's that, same old same old'. For Ken this yr it's critical that he lets these guys know 'Hey whatever problems I had last yr or even last week, you're NOT going to just roll through and take it!' - big mental game going on out there right now Art for how the rest of this championship may unfold" etc etc.

The way I've written it there isn't especially good but it's along the lines of that sort of thing. Instead we tend to get (paraphrasing) RC "Ken passes him back Todd. Ken riding really well at the moment, doing an excellent job".

There's no real story or motivation hook there for me to become invested, other than the fact I'm already invested because I somewhat know who these guys are already. But as a casual observer from the outside I'm not sure I would be.

Yeah, I thought I was watching Monster Jam for a minute. Stop yelling, the races haven’t even started yet.

I loved how RC told him to ask Blair about LCQ’s!! Blair’s response was perfect.

David Bailey is the goat when it comes to calling and analysing races. I could listen to his insight for hours

Oh my god, you can keep him. He’s still exaggerating like he’s sitting next to Cameron Steele.

He was fine. He made more mistakes than Leigh. I never cursed at the tv calling the announcers idiots like I would with Ralph so it's still a win

I think he had a lot of nerves last night. He did mispronounce a few names. Felt like he came in very cold, minimal work lately and lack of homework.

As a whole, I think both he and Diffey are good, as well as Ralph.

That's the biggest thing that stands out to me, RC has been great with both of them.

RC has consistently improved, and being able to flow and "perform" with two different people takes some skill.

I don't mind Harris or Diffey, or even Ralph. They all have their quirks. I'm most bummed about Jim Holley missing from RDL.

That line about the LCQ from RC was so damn quick. Well done Ricky
