I understand the suggestion and it would be cool and all, but Mayson didn't ask for this or anything as far as I know. Let him enjoy what he has been given. I'm sure Hammer 663s will continue to update us and convey Mayson's gratitude.

Hammer, your kindness reminds me of family friend I’ve known since I was a kid. I lived with my grandparents and he lived across the street from us. He was like a dad to me. He taught me a lot through his example. He left California and moved to Portland when I was 12.
When I left California for the PNW @ 20, he was the first person I looked up. We’ve been friends/family for over 37 years.
I’m sure Mayson will remember what you and everyone else involved has done the rest of his life.
Happy holidays to you and your family.
Thank you. As I've gotten older I realize my worth is measured by the quality of the people I've influenced. I'm just trying to pass on the good things that I've learned. Moto has been a massive influence on my life, and most of my true friends I met there. My boy and I are fully engaged due to moto and many of our best, and worst, times have come at the track. Mayson is a good kid, and I hope he's in my life for a while. This whole deal has been amazing - who'd have thought a set of fork seals would have taken us all on this trip?

So last night I got an email from Jed at the Galactic Sox Company. From AUSTRALIA! He saw this on Vital and wanted to help Mayson with some product. Pretty damn cool the reach this has taken.

Check out their website. Very well done, and cool products! Made from genuine Scottish unicorn mane, will increase your speed by 1000%. Says so on the label!

Awesome stuff! I know it’s not about the credit, but I’d love for mag23 and sparker245’s names to be put next to slipdog instead of “& others” as they’re paying for Slipdog’s time! Good on everyone!

Could quite possibly be the best thing I've read in 2020!
Great job to everyone involved in this, it's amazing!

I recently lost some faith in the moto community due to some local stuff but this right here brings it all back to what I remember it being.

Heard back from Guts, ribbed seat cover will be on its way. Red sides, black top, with white ribs.
Also, please put Guts as responsible for hooking him up, not me personally 😉

How many hours on the motor? Does it need full rebuild or top end?

Slipdog checked the valves and they were just a touch tight. Cam lobes looked very good. It appears this was a very low hour bike that sat way more than it was run. There's probably some dry gaskets and shot bearings (headset for sure, linkage TBD) but in general it just needs some TLC and it will be a sweet little ride for him. Yeah, he's gonna outgrow it but for now it's a solid starter bike.

Hey Hammer what a wonderful thing you're doing here for Mayson. It looks like you've made a lot of Vital guys Christmases too. I noticed he has one set of tires so I figured I'd send a set of Dunlops with the amount of riding he's going to be doing.

Merry Christmas

Hey ML! Honestly, we're running out of parts to replace! Smile The last 2 items I can see it "needing" are a wheelset, which might be in progress via RMATV, or an exhaust. From the photos it might have an old CHM can on it (Carmichael Honda Motorsports - a local shop) but the header looks stock. Both of those are a little spendy for replacement items that really aren't "must haves" tho.

Hey Hammer, nothing back yet from my RM contact. If ML has any connections with any wheel companies in the mean time that he can pull some strings on then let’s get Mayson a set!

If an exhaust company doesn’t chip in, I’d be more than happy to get a repack kit or material on its way for the current exhaust. Let me know!

Sorry I haven't checked in sooner but it's been a busy week for me. For its age, Mayson's bike is in pretty good condition. I pulled off the front end today and the steering bearings were dry and rusty, especially the lower. I wiped them down, ran some fine Emory around the races, and put some fresh grease on them but they are still notchy and need to be replaced. I will check out the swingarm/linkage when I tear the rear apart but like the front end, I'd assume they've never seen anything but the OEM grease. I will also pop off the tank and valve cover and see how the clearances are looking.

Mayson's grandpa Rick is a really nice guy and seems really blown away and appreciative of all the help that is being offered. We spoke for about an hour when he dropped off the bike and he has a cool background and ties to the sport himself.

Do you know what Mayson weighs and what spring rates are on the bike? I'd be happy to send up a set of proper rate springs from Race Tech for Mayson if you wanted to drop them in when doing the rebuild.

LOL in hindsight you are right, but this all started with leaky fork seals and a blown shock. I had no idea it was gonna end up here!

You can always send a 125 to me if you want. Wink

For the front a .38 rate spring set (FRSP 324538) would be perfect. A 5.6 rate (SRSP 552456) would likely be good for the rear. Springs can be shipped to Brian at:

Roth Racing
3755 Old Auburn Road
Roseville, CA 95661

Thank you guys so much!!!!
