I get what the OP is saying but theres only 1 way to find out. The kids has the talent and some swagger. As I watched that Res Bull video I thought that the sponsors and industry are throwing this kid to the wolves and piling it on him. But he is definitely special and may be able to handle it. Lets hope so.

You're12 months late on this post.
He did enough during the year to warrant the hype. He will podium threat inside and out- there are still a few fast & consistent guys that have his measure so I think another learning/building year and then 2022 will be his year.

Fast and marketable. Bright future ahead of him. As someone mentioned earlier, as long as he doesn't make Austin's mistakes, the sky is only the limit. If he wins the next two SX championships, would he be the youngest premier class prospect in the last few years?
This is exactly what i mean. Your already calling for him to win the next 2 sx championships and move to the premier class when he hasnt even won a sx race yet🤨🤨.??? We havent even seen how he will handle adversity yet. Lets see the guy deal with a big takeout from the senior guys and see how he works through some criticism and bad results/injurys/bike problems before you start saying he is the one to beat. AC won like 3 of his first 6 races when he was 17 and he still doesnt have a sx championship 5 years later...

Could’ve/would’ve/should’ve won his what(?) 3rd sx race ever entered and won the last national this year. Barely turned 17 yrs old and won the national, got on the podium in sx at 16 yrs old. The last 16 yr old to come out and win was AC I believe. Before that I think was Millsaps and before Millsaps was Bubba and Pastrana. I’m not a fan of all the media super hype, but I think it’s deserved. He had a solid summer and was way ahead of any other rookie this year too. I wonder if Honda can get that bike up there or if he would’ve been better off signing with PC Kawi, Star Yamaha, or Factory KTM for a better bike but Hunter would’ve probably had a more difficult time finding a ride?
Have you ridden all the Geico/Star/Factory KTM/PC bikes? Please dont compare them to showroom stock bikes! The Geico bike won a lot of races last year.

I kinda understand what you're saying but the only problem will be on social media and message boards (yeah yeah I know message boards are social media shoosh) with fuckknuckles saying bullshit like 'see I knew he wasn't that good' or 'I thought he was gonna win everything'.. So while it's ugly as fans to deal with said fuckknuckles he shouldn't know about most of it. Unless he truly demises but let's hope that won't happen..

Well I'm assuming the teams have been around long enough to not buy into it..

Also I 100% agree that Hunter is being underrated but I also reckon that's where he'll do his best work

He does seem to be extremely hyped. Hopefully he can save the money he is getting this year, avoid the track snacks, stay focused and stay healthy. Basically do the opposite of Austin.
Doing the opposite of Austin sounds like the best advice one could ever follow, in all facets of life.

A lot of people dont realise that hunter is the reason jett got a ride at geico to begin with. Geico signed hunter from gps and it was negioated that jett comes along as well.

If you watched him closely, he does not ride like a 17 year old rookie. He rides like a veteran, making very few mistakes. He would of been 3rd in points outdoors if he didnt have two mechanicals. Supercross was a little wild because prior to September 2019 he had never ridden supercross. I think people are so high on him because of the way he rides. If he rides like he did in outdoors he will be hard to beat next year due to his consistency.

Yeah, Jett is not AC. His outdoor season showed it. He was cool as a cucumber . If he can get starts he is going to be SX and MX champion this year, IMO.

Well he did finish 11 points shy of 3rd in points outdoors despite 2 technical DNFs. So I guess he has already lived up to it. Not a single finish outside the top 10 aside from the DNFs. Not your standard rookie results

If you had done that, you wouldn’t have missed a very key word in his question.

If the kid can go half as fast as the hype, he's a gold mine.

Kid is fast, good looking, good personality (funny), has that strange accent.

I'd milk the kid like some teenage Tiger Beat heart throb.

Sometimes, you don't have to win, or win championships, to sell product.
The single most well known “dirt bike” rider today last won a championship in 2001?

I think that proves your point about marketability!

Heck, that guy didn’t even have a single or double digit number. He must have been slow, he’s number 199......

The popularity or hype for Jett is deserved because of his early results, although we can look at Hunter and see the opposite side of Motocross fate.
Hunter had some early results and is just as talented, although due to luck and mistakes he is now almost a year behind in development.

Go Aussies.
Hunter has rode a ton of races where he was just not good and it was nt because of injury . He has had 10 really good race days since he started. He is a good rider , he deserves a good ride , but has to be one of the most overrated riders in years . Maybe he will prove me wrong but i think he will be like a josh grant ,Cristian Craig, win some races over his career but no were near this multi championship winning hype he gets . I think Jett is real deal . His outdoors last year was more impressive than Hunter has ever done

He has a perfect technique and riding style. I’m glad that I’ve seen Hunter ride on tracks like Valkenswaard and Loket. Made it look incredibly easy.

I would love to know how Hunter is undeterred atm . He has only won 1 overall since he started and that came in the mxon . When you look at his results. Compared to the amount of buzz he gets he is definitely no underrated.

Not sure about Hunter, it might be that he is going to take longer to adjust to US and in turn he might just need to calm down mentally a bit.

We will wait and see how he goes next year, fingers crossed he stays injury free.

I think a lot of people actually underestimate him, based on his injuries since he's made the switch to the States. I wouldn't predict that he's gong to go on to dominate AMA racing, but at the same time he's one of only 6 guys to win an outdoor moto in the 250 class when he was reasonably healthy in 2019,

I kind of wonder if his ACL injury in 2019 has been harder for him to come back from than some others have. He's certainly skilled enough to win any moto he enters outdoors, but it seems like he hasn't had too much opportunity to really compete at SX so far and it might be something that he doesn't really master like his brother probably will. He could end up being sort of like a Mike Alessi, which isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things.

He's raced 2 SX' in total! None in Europe, none in Australia!
He got 7th and 13th! That's pretty crazy in this day and age
