First of all I’d like to apologize for this mess, this was a private conversation that was never meant to be shared. This was just something I said in a heated moment & I said it as if it were true... When in reality it was just a rumor I had heard & I was pretty upset it was over for such a great team of people and riders. I apologize to both parties for coming at them like that with no real facts. I let my immaturity get the best of me. Like I said it was a private conversation that i shared with a friend and he blasted it on social media..

Hi 5 to you young-man.

Shit happens, people get upset & things get said...and...rarely...someone comes back and "owns it". Good for you. I hope good things come for all of those invovled in the FC family.

Good luck to all of you.

The owner pitched his MAGA ripoff gear/graphic concept to his contact at Geico and was soundly rejected.

He posted the conversations on social media in a huff.

The Geico sponsorship was terminated a few weeks later.

I came back to this thread and saw that two of the players came on here to set the record straight. 👍
Now, back to racing. Let's hope we get a full season of great racing in SX and MX in 2021.

No sponsors belong to anyone. You cant steal a sponsor.....it sucks but sponsors decide where best to spend their dollars. Things change....and i think moto is about to change drastically and geico will be a part of that it sounds like.

You can steal a sponsor if you’re the sanctioning body. You ban an individual or team from running a sponsor, then successfully court that sponsor for your series instead.

Another way (not stealing but costing) is the helmet cam deal with Reed-bar him from running a competing brand to your series sponsor.

GEICO is an acronym. It stands for Government Employee Insurance Company.

I don't know if anyone posted this before and I don't really care to read through these 3 pages but the new CEO of GEICO said a couple months ago that they were pulling out of motorsport TEAM sponsorships but that doesn't mean series. Nobody stole anything here. Although I suspect the pitchforks and torches will still march on.

and to add to the trivia....

In 1996, GEICO became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, led by Warren Buffett.

So, soon I expect to see this headline over at the MXA website, because those guys are all about this kind of stuff:

WARREN BUFFETT DESTROYS GEICO HONDA

..except it would be mis-spelled, because it's MXA...

But the promoter did neither of those. Geico had sponsored both the series and the team for years, and nothing was done to prevent them from continuing to sponsor the team.

The OP was referring, as was i , to the CBDMD and Discount Tyre issues which are well documented.

The Geico decision, as we see it, is that they have either pulled out totally , or just pulled the team money, as they have already been series sponsors for numerous years, its not the same argument.

Let me clear this up.

Bad

- Promoters approaching team sponsors to become series sponsors

- Promoters restricting team and rider sponsorship to benefit only the promoter

Ok

- Promoter sharing a sponsor with a team, and having that sponsor choose to only be a series sponsor moving forward

Right but, it started because there was an acusation that the promoter stole GEICO as a sponsor.

I wasn’t referring to Geico-I was responding to the assertion in someone’s post that a sponsor can’t be stolen.

My question is when you look at the tv coverage why in dogs name would any company sponsor a team instead of the series? You get virtually nothing in coverage as a team sponsor on the broadcast.
