Sam Yanitelli, him and Sellards would battle each other daily on minis. I remember being in awe watching them too, I was probably 8.

Gene Stull from PA was the ONLY guy I’ve seen able to beat James Stewart on 80’s and be able to run his pace every time they lined up

Steve Oyster was another madman that could have made it. watching those dudes , doug lange , scotty tyler , Phil and Mike larson and even old larry ward and into just 5 years ago with Josh and justin hill and RV going at it at woodland.....ahhh....the good old days!
Jimmy Anderson started showing up at local vintage races in the northwest maybe a decade ago or so (approx). He immediately started destroying any class he entered.

He then went on an undefeated streak at AHRMA nationals, One year he won the Chehalis national by a wide margin "taking it easy" on his YZ250 with a rod about to go., If I can hear a rod going with my shitty ears, the noise was loud and he was not as aggressive as usual and still won my a healthy margin

Several years ago he went to Farleigh and won there.

Still fast as hell, with a beautiful style. I have never seen him with a wheel out of place. No question he had speed. Wish I knew why he didn't go farther.

There were these two 2 NY kids (brothers) that would show up at NESC races and just tool on the 85 experts around 93...Umhoffer? Years later the Verackas reminded me of them, but even faster.

Was so awesome to see him at a few races this year geared up and turning laps

Back in 04 or so we went to washoigal for a practice day and he would lap me in about 5 laps every moto 🤣🤣

Ed Lyons, whose nickname was Butch, from CT. His first 125 expert moto at Southwick in 1992(3?) he holeshot and lead about 18 of 20 minutes holding off Dowd, Barton, Dzielak, Treadwell, etc. and finished third. Maybe THE most naturally talented rider ever.

I may have already said this when the thread was originally posted, but I remember Ponca 2006, watching Hackley and Dungey battle every moto, thinking for sure that rivalry would continue into the pro ranks. I occasionally saw his name way down in the results, but he didn't transition to the pro ranks as well as Dungey did, obviously.

I always though Taylor Futrell would have made it. I just think he had bad timing because the economy tanked when he turned pro. we also had another local kid Connor Lester that had amazing speed. He could show up after not riding for months and match the speed of some super fast guys for a few laps. I watched him leave Jacob Hayes and many others one day until he got tired. The kid had no speed limit in his head.

Iowa District 22. 1978 thru 1983+. Johnny Spaw. Just unreal speed. I have been watching/racing motocross for over 40 years and I don't think I have ever seen anyone with the corner speed he had! Wonder what he's up to these days?
