I thought it was pretty cool when they asked rider who they would pick to be on Mount Rushmore. Kind of curious to see who you guys would pick. Since Mount Rushmore is about the US Presidents let’s keep it US riders only.
My picks would be:
Bob Hannah
Jeremy McGrath
Ricky Carmichael
Ryan Villopoto

RC – No explanation.
JS – 125 best ever and had to deal with the GOAT.
Wardy – Mr USA 875
Hannah – Lore and titles
Notable exception: RV – 5 chips, won each he contested fully and legendary MXdN rides. RJ – cause RJ.
Include SX? Buckwheat might have to go in favour of MC, and swap RJ and Wardy.
James Stewart
Roger Decoster
Jeremy McGrath

Hannah best of the 70’s
RJ best of the 80’s
McGrath best of the 90’s
RC best of the 2000’s
RJ
Ward
RD
The 4th pick would be a toss up though. I’d say Pastrana if it’s Moto but NOT strictly racing though

Carioli on deck with Ward in the wings. JS doesn't have the titles to compete for a spot on Mount Rushmore, sorry-FMOP for a time, absolutely. Longevity, consistency, and titles, not even close.
Carmichael
Johnson/Ward
McGrath/Stewart
Gotta be:
RC - no explanation
RJ - he did it all - SX/MX/MXDN, 250, 500, he was also one of the first to put the US on the world map for motocross in terms of speed but also style. Plus he has 5 US MX titles (250 & 500). That puts him 2nd all time in premier class titles behind RC.
Everts - 10X World champ, over 100 GP wins
Cairoli - 9 world titles, 6 MXdN moto wins, won first MXGP at age 19 and still winning at age 34!
MC-7 SX titles and 72 wins puts him on MT Rushmore without even adding his MX title. MC changed the game.
RC-No brainer as you say and changed the game again.
Everts-totally agree
Hannah
McGrath
Carmichael.
RC, James, RJ, RV. All four were dominant at their best. Remember RV has 5 titles total, Dungey only has 4 and RV owned Dungey in every outdoor series they raced together.
Hard to leave off Hannah, Glover, and Ward too. I was not a big fan of those 6 round 250 and 500 series back in the day, and to me those titles seem a little less valued especially the 500 class.
Regardless I would have to put RC and Stewart on the mountain and leave the other two spots for the guys that came before. Personally I’ve have to pick Hannah and RJ.

RC - No question.
McGrath - No question.
Marty Smith - Really the first racer that put America on the map for mx.
RJ/Hannah - That is a toss up. Both were awesome!
World (All nations):
Decoster - No question.
Everts - No question.
RC - No question.
McGrath - No question.
Marty Smith (First rock star of moto)
Jeremy McGrath (Made SX for TV)
Ricky Carmichael (He's RC)
If a world MX one?
Decoster
Stefan Everts
RC4
*Conflicted on the last one....Gaston Rahier? Wantanabe? Lackey? Robert? Mikkola?
Bob Hannah
Jeff Ward
RC
Isn't Decoster kind of an American rider?
He did race in the US. He did run a few early SX races. He has been Team USA manager since like 1932 and he is now a US Citizen
Not trying to argue, just sell my case.
What do we say?
Is Decoster an "American rider?"
And since it's outdoors, and national titles are national titles, regardless of class... then 125 = 250 or 250 = 450... or 500. And if you want to be a dick about it, the record books don't show a lot of the old school titles were 6 or 9 rounds.... not 12 like now...
So...
RV won 3 straight small bike titles (that's a very short list) and two premier titles against some big hitters... plus legendary and then clutch MXdN rides...
And James is the winningest small bike rider, believe he's very high on total wins and ran a perfect big bike season. Again, a very very short list.

RC: Greatest all-around racer in the sport's history
