I agree, removing him from his position for these cases would be extremely harsh. But a sit down and some proper guidance in professionalism would absolutely be in place from the outside looking in.
As far as the gate issue and the protest, pretty shitty! These guys try to play head games, albeit on different levels. I don't like it, but it isn't going away any time soon. The protest, again just shit and a last ditch effort to try and get a title. I think he realized that was his last chance at ever getting a title.
I'm not defending what Shane did in any way, but he isn't perfect and neither are any of us. I don't understand why everyone looks at Christians and thinks because they aren't perfect that they are a horrible representation.
The way this thread is going, I hope it gets flushed too. Between the COVID arguments and now the religious debates, I hope the mods do a deep cleaning on threads soon.
Yea everyone is human....but when someone is so vocal about their faith and regularly expresses its importance in their life, that person becomes a representative of that religion, whether they like it or not, and especially if they're in the eye of the public. It's only normal to then hold that person accountable to the same standards you would expect out of any religious person. In other words, do they practice what they preach? It was in a rhetorical sense to ask why Christians tend to have a bad rep. I get that people are going to have a different idea of how a religious person should carry themself, but I think there are some basic tenants that all would expect out of that person. If you're not willing or able to act in accordance with those expectations, then don't be so loud about your faith at every opportunity. It's just not a good look for anybody.
Some times job changes can be like a divorce and you certainly shouldn't pick sides without hearing from both parties.
Although, if you like one side better than the other, then taking sides is easier - no need to wait.
Could be Shane had lots of good reasons for not waiting - could be he felt he wasn't always treated with respect & courtesy. Could be he thought about it & decided there was no way he'd get a better offer. Could be Star called & said 'Hey, we need an answer'. Who knows?

I don't care about McElrath's religious leanings, but I don't think he's going to amount to much on a 450. He's like a poor man's Savatgy, has some wins in 250 class, no titles, pointing out....good luck. I'm really curious to see if he ends up on a KTM in a team like RMATV-MC or if his TLD departure completely burned the KTM bridge. If that is the case, he's shut out of a lot of opportunities in the big class.
mxjon454 had an opinion, you dont agree with it...fine.
Never mind I don’t use you anymore.
Once a raceteam I worked on had to go to federal court to get an injunction against the SCCA to stop the Supernational at Portlad Intrrnational Raceway. Our Porsches were faster than everyone else. Another manufacturer kept protesting us. The SCCA was getting a lot of money from that manufacturer. There was no sportsmanship, it was about money. One time a rider protested Honda at a National and claimed a $50,000.00 works Honda and Honda was forced to let him have it for something like $5,000.00. It was fair because it was within the rules.
Geico insurance is a terrible company that has been sued thousands of times. They have been penalized by the government for violations of law multiple times. That doesn't make Factory Connection Geico racing bad, its just business. The Geico team isn't good and the Star team isn't bad. They're just businesses. Shane isn't a bad guy. Chase isn't a victim. They both along with most of the other racers have all done stuff to try and help them win. The fuel protest was within the rules. It was a gamble but what if it worked? Shane didn't try and take Chase out or hurt him. You don't think Chad Reed wouldn't have taken Chase out for a championship? Remember what Christian Craig did to Alex martin in practice? What about what Osborne did to Savatgy? Consensus was that he was a hero and Savatgy was week. Kevin Windom did some rough stuff to other riders when he was at Geico. Stop with the phoney self-righteous bullshit. Yamaha doesn't care about the protest and the starting line nonsense. Chase was the better faster rider and managed the series better than Shane. Its not about sportsmanship. It is about winning to get the money. If Chase is your hero good for you. If Shane is your hero good for you as well.
And if they were and Shane is presented with (what he feels is) the best offer he is going to get - after all that waiting?
Some see it all black & white, but I can sure imagine a lot of grey.
