Not my oldest, but like new newmann said above, still competitive since I first raced it in 1999. DG head and swingarm, GEM reed, 34mm Mikuni, original FMF pipe and more...

1982 Honda ATC185

Bought this for $500.00 off CL from a dusty garage in Big Bear where it had sat for years with no carb and a rag stuffed into the intake. Found the carb in pieces in a box in that same garage. Stuck the carb on, checked the oil, sprayed starting fluid into the carb and it tried to fire on the 2nd pull. I drained the dinosaur goop, fresh oil, new gas, new jets and fired right up. I wanted a a little cruiser like this so my last kid at the age of 7 could follow me around in the dunes on his 50cc quad (at the time-He's on a 90cc now). I now use it to work on my property in the hidezlife.

Here's the video of when I bought it. FF to 4:17

Those are definitely the October 1972 Trans-AMA at Rio Bravo. That's Brad Lackey in the green jersey, for example, walking the start to the first turn.

If you look at the upper left corner of the first pic, you can see the hay bale in front of the tree they left standing out on the track in the early days. It sure is strange to see them racing on topsoil there, like very early Carlsbad photos. They still ran thru the water at the three creek crossings, one of which is below the line of sight in that first photo.

It would have been fabulous dirt that day had it not kept raining. That may be Ake Jonsson coming off that dropoff in the second photo, but he didn't get much roost on his number plate from anybody but lappers that day.

Old bike is a project not yet coherent enough to take a picture of.

71 rickman montesa 250. Just picked it up last month and with the help of everyone here I got it running this past weekend. Sat for years in a work buddies parents garage until I convinced him to sell it to me. (Took years). Not sure what I want to do with it yet but man it’s fun to ride.

My current project is a 1980 CT110, which also qualifies as the oldest bike I currently own. I've got a little head start on you Smile

Bought it almost exactly a year ago as a tag along with 77 Pursang that I really wanted.

Got it cleaned up and running last summer with the help of my dad.

Ended up racing it last Sep at the Midwest VMX Race of Champions at Byron.

1981 MAICO 490. Still have it. Still race it. The original owner was a neighbor that sold me his '79 MAICO 400. He had to quit riding after a car accident. Out of the blue he decided to give it to me under one condition, that I never sell it. I have kept that promise for over thirty years. When I take that final checkered flag it goes to my son.

Way cool bike! Neat that you have had it all those years...

1973 Hodaka Combat Wombat 125

My brother and i always wanted to do a rebuild together so we started looking and won this on ebay, many years ago it was a rust bucket but has been an interesting journey that even took us to Athena Oregon for the 50 Year anniversary of Hodaka. That was a fun few days where even Brad Lackey, Tommy Croft and Preston Petty came along.

It came with a plastic tank. Vital’s very own Newmann sent me a BEEEEAUTIFUL “Newmann restored and painted” tank for it. She’s got Ohlins shocks, 41mm forks and all sorts of little RC trinkets. All I need is an RC swing arm!

My 1975 Honda MR50. It was my first dirtbike at 9 yrs old. I found a very nice survior in 2008 and restored it. It now resides in my home office, and everytime I see it, it reminds me of where my mx passion started.

Picked up a matching title uncut frame and engine core for a 72 400 Radial Maico project at the beginning of the year.

Have to finish another first and then get this rolling.
